At least learn to spell your hero's name correctly.
two G's.
Baggy is my hero. But I appreciate the edit. Asshole.moonshine apple pie, baby.
It's Opening Day 2011, and I have already pretty much written off the season.
EVEN IF I could recognize the names of more than three players on Houston's team.
EVEN IF our DL was not longer than our starting roster.
EVEN IF half of our team wasn't below the legal drinking age.
EVEN IF the other half of our team wasn't eligible for Social Security or gastric bypass or both.
EVEN IF I was able to pick out Houston's manager from a three man line up where the other two people were Donald Trump and Rosie O'Donnell.
EVEN IF all of the above were true...
There is no way the SKG** are going to let me have the Saints win a Super Bowl, Auburn win a national championship, and the Suckasstros... well... NOT suck ass in three consecutive calendar years.
The Suckasstros are fucked. And so are my plans to actually enjoy a baseball season for the first time since Biggio hung up his spikes.
But at least I am not a Fucking Redbird or a Goldam Cubbie.
So I got that going for me.
Somebody pour me a stiff drink.
It's Opening Day.
** SKG = the Sporting Karma Gods, who are the primary governing body and highest authority in the world of Karma. The FKG and the BKG are two of the divisional branches.

BLASPHEMY
To be fair, I've had a pretty good run since 2006. My 3 favorite teams have all won their championships. And my 4th, North Dakota Hockey, is in the frozen four this year... GO SIOUX!
But when this happens...

Expect this at Casa de Jarhead

Howard is so right about you fucking HOLLYWOOD MARINES.
Guess who just went yard at his first at bat...again? Jason Heyward. Boom mothereffa's! Braves up 2 - 0
Go Bravo's!! Hells to the yeah, we are going all the way baby. Cursing to the finish and winning it all.....right Buzz?Fuck you.
The Bravos April schedule is brutal.
Nothing for a team of the Bravos caliber. They laugh at April, as a matter of fact they laugh at the entire season knowing they will win it all. Fuck you BKG's! Deal with it!

Well, I mean it's possible. Now there are certain teams that have about as much chance as.....ooohh..saayy...a baby bear in a bull fight of going to the WS.You don't mean like a Cubby Bear's chance do ya?
You don't mean like a Cubby Bear's chance do ya?
Oh no no no....did you think I was referring to your Cubbies? Certainly not. Look, they have a great chance. Probably as good a chance as they have....well...every year. I know baseball and trust me, out of all the teams in MLB, the Cubs are one of them.

So.......ahem, no Orioles in there?
Who?
Braves won. 2 - 0. Screw you guys and your bad juju....and Never to Field picked up a save courtesy of their newest closer.
Braves won. 2 - 0. Screw you guys and your bad juju.
Braves won. 2 - 0. Screw you guys and your bad juju.
Of course they won, such a superior team shouldn't lose. damn you BKG's! I give you ammo and you scoff at it, how dare you!
it's been how many years now?Don't talk to me about years...
In typical Cubbie fashion, they lose the first series of the season. At home. To the worst fucking team in the division.
Until we return to our shitty ways, that is. Thank you BKG's, all praise be due to you for the O's 3 game winning streak.
The Sports Gods are paying me back for Auburn's 2010 season. You're welcome.
Why do I have a feeling that our last two posts are going to be a recurring theme this season (followed by snickering coming from Wench)?
3B Evan Longoria shaved off his bushy mullet after a rough spring that saw him placed on the DL with an oblique strain, one of his cars stolen, his spring home burglarized and his team start 0-3. "It's not been going good," Longoria said. "I've always shaved my head before I came to spring (training), and something told me I should do it again but I spent so long growing my hair, I was reluctant to do it. But after the start that we're off to right now, I just said it's about time that it goes. It's been a rough couple months."
Conversation with my coworker this morning. More wins in April, Roy Oswalt or the Houston Astros?
The Red Sox are looking like they are going to claim the pennant starting out fast at 0 - 4.
In typical Cubbie fashion, they lose the first series of the season. At home. To the worst fucking team in the division.
Liking this season so far. Jays & Orioles tied for first in the AL East? If the Jays have to share the spot, I'm happy for it to be with them, as I hate them the least of the division rivals. Sox & Rays
156 games to go!
(http://a1.twimg.com/profile_images/1300935400/Teams.gif)I'm about to be. Moving in 3 weeks.
I didn't know you were from NOLA. Never been able to bring myself to start rooting for the Hornets. I'm still a Jazz fan at heart.
The Braves start the season 3-0. Whooohooooo......
wait....they did what? 3-4 now?
Oh fuck. When does CFB start again?
Dear Baseball Karma Gods,They are quite possibly becoming the best club in the history of the beisbols.
You are so great and wonderful. I can't even begin to acknowledge your awesomeness. Give us this day of baseball, give us our RBI's and assist, give us our hits and stolen bases, help us Orioles to keep finding favor with you. Amen.
7 game losing streak................ :sad:Saw that this morning and was like "WTF??".
7 game losing streak................
7 game losing streak................
*sigh* lost to the Twins tonight, split series with the Yanks up next.
I have noticed that I am the only one keeping this thread alive.
Well, my Cubbies have...um, they are tied for...er, they have been...
I got nothing.
I was reading more on the Vlad deal this morning, an old article that I missed. Apparently our GM said "there is no such thing as a bad one year deal". Um, yes there is. It's paying a 36 year old $8 million to DH, who just happen to go cold at the end of the year last year and not going out and getting some pitching. Zach Britton is living up to expectations and that is good, Jake Arrieta is not doing bad either, but two men can't do it all.Starlin Castro has been one of the few bright spots for teh Cubs this year so far. I think Quade has found the prototypical leadoff hitter in him. Now, if he can just fill in spots 2-8 we might just make the playoffs.
Fuck you, Mitchel Boggs.
And fuck you, too, Wench.
You should have known it was over in the first inning when LANCE BERKMAN tried to steal second and was picked off by a country mile... Yeah, his Puma-like speed and nimble feet...
I am honestly shocked that the Suckasstros rallied in the bottom of the 9th when they tried SO DAMN HARD to piss it away in the top of the 9th... Carl went on to bed after the Deadbirds scored, figuring it was a waste of time to sit up and watch.
Still... always nice to beat that buncha goobers from Saint Looey.
I hope he goes into the HoF as a Redbird... And Biggio doesn't get in the first year.
He's stealing a base tonight.
6-5, baby. Suck it, you rat bastard Hollywood asshole.
No way does Puma steal a base unless he sticks one in his gym bag to take back to STL with him...
And I will take that bet on Biggio too - he is a LOCK for first time around.
Oh, I think Biggio is a first rounder lock too. But now, I hope he loses votes for playing in a ball park that looks like an erector set. But hey, it's got a hill in center field.
And a bar in centerfield that stays open one hourafter the game... duh.
That you can run a tab at, as well.
Drunkest I've been post college has been at that bar.
DAMN your bullpen is teh suxxors... I thought we had problems. Sheesh. That is totally gonna bite yall in the ass at some point.
How do you say "5 game winning streak"?Best Braves team ever! World Series Baby!!!
Oh, just like that. (http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o141/kboom23/Atlanta%20Braves/Tomahawk.gif)
Suck on that big black dong, WE!!! and Buzz.
Best Braves team ever! World Series Baby!!!
Ooohhh no you don't. Not this time. Your shit has been blocked from ever reaching, much less having any effect on the baseball karma gods. I've already burned a Barry Bonds and Mark McGuire rookie card at the sacrificial alter and screwed three 17 year old virgins while they wore a Biff Pocaroba road jersey. As dangerous as this guy?
Save your weak sauce for something else. BTDub, the Cubbies are looking dangerous this year.
As dangerous as this guy?Haha, the Guido Bitch behind him mouths: "Are you fucking kidding me?"

Damn straight, going to dominate like never before. After the All Star break, I would be surprised if they lost a game. Once again I am jumping off the Oriole's train and hopping on the Braves bandwagon.
My husband comes home from Spencer's t-ball team meeting and announces that my son is now an Oriole. So much for that retirement plan... he is hosed before he ever gets started. I doubt that bird shit smell ever washes off.

Question for the Braves fans on the board: I will be going to the Sunday afternoon Phillies game. Should I wear the "Mets Suck, Braves Swallow" shirt or the "Bobby Cox is a Homo" shirt?
TIA

This one, only b/c it's true.
I would get pissed here but part of me agrees. I wanted BC gone years ago. Yeah, I know..he was ultra-successful...328 straight division titles etc. But the getting thrown out of every other game, REFUSING to ever bunt a runner over in any one run game and shoving a huge thumb up your nose to dig for gold every time the camera was on you in the dugout...got old.
Actually I thought it was true b/c Thrilla rubbed his weenier against him.
Actually I thought it was true b/c Thrilla rubbed his weenier against him. That was the angle I was reaching for.
:fu:It's going to be so much fun watching Zambrano no hit the redbirds tomorrow.
For all the Cubs fans as I get ready for this weeks series.
It's going to be so much fun watching Zambrano no hit the redbirds tomorrow.
I'm going to enjoy even more watching Pujols in a Cubs uni next season though...

BTDub...Thrilla must be uber busy not to have responded to this yet.
That's hitting below the belt.
And the Bravos go out and lose 2 straight to the Craptionals...at home.
Tipsheet: Cubs have rich history of overpaying
Would the Cubs dramatically overspend to steal Albert Pujols from the Cardinals?
Of course they would. They are the Cubs.
Making ridiculous business decisions is a time-honored tradition on Chicago’s North Side.
This team is paying Alfonso Soriano $19 million to man left field this season, such as he can. He will make $19 million next year too. And in 2013 . . . and in 2014 as well.
If his fielding is this bad now, what will it look like in 2014? One shudders at the thought.
The Small Bears gave Japanese import Kosuke Fukudome a four-year, $48 million deal – roughly $44 million more than he is worth, given his so-so production in the Windy City.
This team gave temperamental Milton Bradley a three-year, $30 million to play the outfield. Trouble was, Bradley couldn’t play the outfield any more. His hitting had deteriorated, too.
But his temper was strong as ever, leading to a series of unfortunate events.
Mercurial starting pitcher Carlos Zambrano is scheduled to make $18.875 million this season and $19 million next season. If he can avoid another full-scale implosion, he might actually earn that money.
That, of course, is a big if.
The Cubs could get lumbering third baseman Aramis Ramirez ($14.6 million) and strikeout machine Carlos Pena ($10 million) off the books after this season, so the team could easily afford to lavish unimaginable riches upon Albert.
Would the franchise spend outrageously to acquire the backside of Albert’s career? Sure, because this team has eschewed the prudent path so many times before.
Attendance is flagging. General manager Jim Hendry is under fire. The team’s ownership group, the Ricketts Family, might be looking to make a marketing push if this team sinks toward the bottom the National League Central still again.
Many experts believe the Cubs would be better off investing in a younger player, perhaps Prince Fielder, as part of a long-term rebuilding plan.
But that would be the smart thing to do. These are the Cubs, remember?
Making ridiculous business decisions is a time-honored tradition on Chicago’s North Side.
Some team from the NL Central is visiting tonight and tomorrow night, not sure if I've ever heard of them...And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy My brothers. And you will know My name is the Lord when I lay My vengeance upon thee.
And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy My brothers. And you will know My name is the Lord when I lay My vengeance upon thee.Your team is so crappy they can't even catch a fan that runs on the field.
Your team is so crappy they can't even catch a fan that runs on the field.
Carlos Lee would have had a heart attack if he had had to actually run. We are protecting our $100M asset, jerkoff!
We had a LOT of opportunities last night to make the score much worse then it was. The Braves are inconsistent in capitalizing on opportunities!
Currently being shutout in the 8th by Astro pitching. 3 runs last night. 0 so far today. Knocking the cover off dat bitch.:haha:
:haha:McCann hits a solo homerun in the bottom of the ninth with 2 outs to tie the game and go to extra innings... :haha:
All he does is win!McCann hits a two run homerun in the top of the 11th to beat the Asstros. :haha: :haha: :haha:

The Braves are going all the way this year BABY!!!
Fuck you Buzz. Why do you feel the need to upset the BKG's all the time?Because they continue to show me year after year that they already hate me.
McCann hits a two run homerun in the top of the 11th to beat the Asstros. :haha: :haha: :haha:
I thought about bumping this thread last night when I saw where the Stros scored 6 in the 9th against the Cubbies, but seeing how Baltimore is just as shitty as both of them, I left it alone.
I'm worrying about the Bravos but the reality is, a wildcard is the best we can hope for because the Phillies just look like they're going to run away and hide. Now they've got Uttley back.
I wish the fucking Brewers would drop a few. I'm shocked as hell the Cards have the 2nd best record in the NL.
I thought about bumping this thread last night when I saw where the Stros scored 6 in the 9th against the Cubbies, but seeing how Baltimore is just as shitty as both of them, I left it alone.
When Darwin Barney (who the eff?) is leading the team in hitting, your team is the suxxors. Wait till next Century!
I thought about bumping this thread last night when I saw where the Stros scored 6 in the 9th against the Cubbies, but seeing how Baltimore is just as shitty as both of them, I left it alone.
Damn, I fucking hate our bullpen. Blow a 1 run lead in the 9th with 2 outs, and then lose in 11. Fuck you Ryan Franklin.
Not holding my breath but,
I'm hoping the Braves try to get Carlos Beltran...
:silence: :silence: :silence: :silence:No actually I'm pretty true to myself and others but I guess you have your opinion.
Traitorous motherfucker.
Houston won the NL without his sorry ass.I'm wanting help to get to the playoffs. This guy has as many clutch hits as anyone the Braves could hope for.
I'm sure they are glad they didn't over pay for him. Granted, he's a Cardinal killer, unless you count striking out with the bases loaded, down a run, with two outs in the 9th, in game 7 of the NLCS.
...and that's what you're going to be paying 30M/year for 10 years, Cubs fans.12th inning, right in his wheelhouse.
...and that's what you're going to be paying 30M/year for 10 years, Cubs fans.I am really gonna heart Poo holes next year. Right now, he can choke on a dick.
Does anyone know if the Orioles are still fielding a team?
Seeing as how I have tickets to watch the Cards play the Browns on the 28th, I sure hope so.
Oddly enough, this is the first time the Cards have played the Browns/O's in Camden. I can't believe with all the interleague that's been played, Baltimore and St Louis have never faced off in Baltimore.
This week is National Fuck Off Wench Week, beginning tomorrow night!
And the Cards will drop 2 of 3 to Houston....
Does anyone know if the Orioles are still fielding a team?
Yeah...they've got uniforms and everything.
Baltimore Orioles 26 31 .456
That isn't terrible. Only 5 under.
And for good measure (because it's Go eff Yourself, Wench Week):
Houston Astros 23 37 .383
Baltimore Orioles 26 31 .456
That isn't terrible. Only 5 under.
And for good measure (because it's Go Fuck Yourself, Wench Week):
Houston Astros 23 37 .383
Considering they started the year off like 12-3 or something, its a pretty dismal collapse.:haha:
:haha:
6-4 in their first 10......wait, what was it you said again?
Seriously though, I remember them shooting out of the gate pretty good this year. Maybe it was like 5-0, or 6-1. Still though to go from top of the heap in the begining to 5 games under has to suck for Orioles fans. By that I mean, they gave you guys false hope. Thats worse than none at all.
Baltimore Orioles 26 31 .456

I wish you cared more.
I hate this shit. I can't even talk smack to Wench anymore. Fuck you Mike Quade. I hope the entire front office gets the goat aids from Thayer.

What are your thoughts about Big Z's rant?
Some mediots are trying to compare that to Santo's rant in '69. Bull. Shit.
He is a fucking cancer on the team, and has been for at least 4 seasons now.
I wish he would go back to AAA himself.
REDACTED
You, sir, are a dickhead.
Yeah, like Snaggle said, Braves won. Shocker... 1 - 0.Braves inching closer behind Lowe's strong outing as Phils lose to Mets.
Braves swept the Marlins. They get the suckAsstros tonight. Looking at recent history, they will drop a few.
On another note, I didn't recognize anyone on theCubsSuckasstros roster. I did seeAramis RamirezCarlos Lee, who isn't having a very good season, but this was just a parade of no-names having bad years.

Whew! Glad he's not playing against us every day.
Come on now...Darwin Castro may be this year's MVP. And, that Lou Montana guy. Whew! Glad he's not playing against us every day.
I recognized the Fuck-and-Do-Me guy too. Seriously, it was like watching the Marlins or Padres or Pirates. Every year, it's a roster of Triple A guys, which sux. I'm not telling you anything you don't know or think every year, but the Cubs are one of those franchises that SHOULD be damn good every year. I know nothing of their ownership but fan support alone should force them to put a product on the field that's in the hunt every year.Every year when I see the opening day roster, all I think about is the first day of camp on the movie Major League.
Was it worth it to give up that blast to McCann? Damn!
Load the freekin bases and try to get Chipper to hit into a DP. He could you know.
We will never know now will we Astro lovers?
Who you talking to, fucktard? There are no Astro lovers on this board...So harsh! But on a positive note they have some good young talent.
:silence: :silence: :silence: :silence:
6 game win streak on the road and still 2 back of the Phillies. On another note, I became a Boston Red Sox bandwagoner about 10 years ago, more because of having someone to pull for against the Yankmees than anything else. Those guys scored 30 runs in two games this weekend. 30 runs???? Is Toronto pitching that bad?
Sounded like ESPN announcer yesterday giving the college super regional scores. South Carolina topped UConn 8-2 and Peter Tom Willis threw for 3 touchdowns in Florida State's 23-9 victory over Texas A & M.
Fuck the Cardsstarting pitching.
If you ever get around a "Sawx" fan, you'll see they are as bad, if not worse, than Yankees fans. The accent is the worst part.
Heeeey youz, letz go pahk the cah by da Hahvahd yahds before da sawx gammmmme.
Strange thing about the Sox this year is how they started. Dead last, something like 2-8 and now the best record in baseball with the Phils.
Yeah, not that I have any alliegance to the city or their fans....never been there but I do want to go to Fenway Pahk as part of my bucket list. I just started pulling for them to beat the Yankees and now I like following them as my favorite American League team.I kind of follow the Devil Rays since it is close by.
Strange thing about the Sox this year is how they started. Dead last, something like 2-8 and now the best record in baseball with the Phils.
Kinda like Baltimo..........oh, yeah, nevermind.
How does one have Oswalt, Hamels, Lee and Halladay......and NOT have the best ERA in the majors by a full run? The Phils are second to the Bravos in team ERA.
For us to be discussing this shit, it must be a slow day.
I'm looking at strategies with every play and watching how the pitchers are setting batters up etc.
Which is why I love the NL. Fuck the DH. There is nothing better than watching someone like LaRussa play a chess match with Bobby Cox.
Which is why I love the NL. Fuck the DH. There is nothing better than watching someone like LaRussa play a chess match with Bobby Cox.Hi, I'm 2010,and I'm fucking out of this piece.
Hi, I'm 2010,and I'm fucking out of this piece.
Speaking of strategy, watched a good bit of SF/Cincy last night. Starts in the early evening when there's that huge shadow half way between pitcher's mound and home at the start of the game. Orel Hersheiser was commenting along with Bobby Valentine how as a pitcher, it had better be about 75% breaking stuff and low. When the ball is coming out of bright sun into heavy shadow, the hitter can pick it up out the pitcher's hand but from there, he can only guess where it's going to be when it gets to him. A fastball up lets the hitter guage 10X better than one that starts out belt high but winds up on the ankles because it's impossible to pick up the rotation.I agree Snaggle. baseball is a better game. I actually collect books about baseball. I really like football but not enough to read about it. If I were Russell Wilson, I hang up the pads and keep searching for the right instructor to find my stroke.
That's the kind of stuff I like and from there, I'm paying attention to pitch selection.
6 game win streak on the road
So much for that streak... BOOYAH!!!
So much for that streak... BOOYAH!!!
Really? One out of four Asstro smack? Really?
Don't you judge me. i have to take my moments where I can get 'em this year...You should think about watching soccer.
You should think about watching soccer.
Your avatar pains me.
Really? One out of four Asstro smack? Really?:bugs:
Your avatar pains me.

Do you really think Pujols will make a difference for the Schlubbies? That would be like Pujols coming to the Suckasstros - he can't pitch, catch, play 7 positions and bat nine times in a row, so unless they can dredge up a catcher, 6 other position players and a decent 5 man rotation, big whoopie.
He's but one man. One man alone cannot fight the future... and the Schlubbies SUCK!
Pujols + Cubs = #winning
Only three teams in the game that are playing worse than them.
Do two of them play in the NL Central?
One word. Cam Newton. Okay, that's 2 but you get the idea. According to every person outside the Auburn family, he played every position on offense, defense and special teams.. plus he worked the Dippin' Dots kiosk on the concourse.
Pujols + Cubs = #winning
I knew I liked you for some reason.
Do two of them play in the NL Central?
Wow! Well, I never noticed that, but yes they do!And fuck you.
Fuck you. What'd we do? Oh wait...nothing. Same as last year.
And fuck you.
And just for good measure, while I am dishing it out? Fuck Buzz and his Schlubbies too.
eff you.
And eff you.
And just for good measure, while I am dishing it out? eff Buzz and his Schlubbies too.
What did I do? Jarhead was the one that pointed it out. :)
She just enjoys fucking people...uh, fucking WITH people.
Fuck you. What the hell? GH doesnt get a fuck?
And fuck you.
And just for good measure, while I am dishing it out? Fuck Buzz and his Schlubbies too.
What the hell? GH doesnt get a fuck?
Fuck you, cockbreath.
Better?
What the hell? GH doesnt get a fuck?
You brought coat tail smack. You have to wait for Snaggie's sloppy seconds.Don't forget the fucktard...redheads find him irresistable.
The Suckasstros lost to the GAWT DAMN Pirates tonight. Ain't nobody gettin' NOTHIN!!!I really feel for your husband during baseball season.
I really feel for your husband during baseball season.
Fuck the bullpen.
That is all.
The Braves lose to the Mets...The circle of motherfuckin' life I tell ya.
Fuck the bullpen.
That is all.
The DEADBIRDS LOST???? Wasn't it like 6-1 at one point, with Pujols and Puma blasting HR all over the place? Weren't you the one sending cocky texts to people about what a kick ass game it was and how glad you were to be seeing it in person???

Oooooh my stinking heck... that is HY-LARRY-US!!!!
(The only way to assuage my own misery is to revel in the misery of others, so nyah...)
I hope you can't find the second book in the Dresden Files today when you go to the bookstore.:haha:
I've never seen a walk off balk before. That was different. But I'll take it to avoid the sweep.
Pujols hurt in Cardinals' 5-4 win over Royals
ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Cardinals found a way to rally past the Kansas City Royals despite losing Albert Pujols to an injury.
Pujols sprained his left wrist and hurt his shoulder trying to make a tag at first base, but the Cardinals recovered to beat the Royals 5-4 on Skip Schumaker's ninth-inning homer on Sunday.
The Cardinals moved into a tie for first place in the NL Central with Milwaukee, which lost at Boston.
Pujols was injured in the sixth and the three-time NL MVP left the game. He will be evaluated on Monday, a day off for St. Louis.
"To be honest, I can't give you guys too much until the X-rays and an MRI tomorrow," said Pujols, whose left wrist was tightly wrapped. "I know I'm pretty sore. Am I worried? Of course. Hopefully, everything will come out negative tomorrow. When I come out of a game, believe me, something is really wrong.
"Hopefully, cross our fingers and I'll be all right."
General Manager John Mozeliak said no roster moves are being planned.
"We will know something tomorrow and go from there," Mozeliak said. "Right now, he will be tested in the morning and we'll see."
Manager Tony La Russa said he experienced a range of emotions when he saw his first baseman go down.
"It scared the hell out of all of us," La Russa said. "It smoked him pretty good. The doctor said he has good strength so that makes us kind of optimistic. First indications are that we caught a break."
Wilson Betemit hit a chopper up the middle off Cardinals starter Jamie Garcia. Second baseman Pete Kozma backhanded the ball and made a jump-throw to first, pulling Pujols off the bag. As the slugger tried for a tag, Betemit ran into his glove hand and Pujols went down to the ground in pain.
"He hit me on my wrist and my shoulder," Pujols said. "He kind of jammed me back. It's the toughest play to make as a first baseman. It's a bang-bang play. I saw the replay a couple of times, but I didn't really want to look at it."
The collision was unavoidable, Betemit said.
"I was running hard and the ball arrived at the same time I got to the base," Betemit said. "I couldn't do anything about it. He hit me on my left arm, that's why he dropped the ball. I hit him and then I saw him on the ground. That's part of the game. I couldn't do anything about it."
Pujols, hitting .279, was 3 for 3 with his 17th home run. The fifth-inning shot gave St. Louis a 3-2 lead.
Lance Berkman, who had been given a rest Sunday, replaced Pujols at first.
:haha:
Pujols has broken bone; out 4-6 weeks
Cardinals first baseman and three-time MVP Albert Pujols will miss four to six weeks with a small fracture that was found near his left wrist, the team announced Monday.
Pujols had an MRI and followup X-Rays this morning with the Cardinals' team physicians. A non-displaced fracture was discovered in his left radius (forearm). Pujols will be placed in a splint, and the Cardinals expect him to be out of the lineup for four to six weeks.
The official statement from the Cardinals did not mention a corresponding roster move to replace Pujols on the active roster when he goes on the 15-day disabled list.
Lance Berkman is likely to take over at first base for the Cardinals.
The first baseman injured his wrist and shoulder in the sixth inning of Sunday's game when a baserunner collided with him along the first-base line. Pujols was upbeat after the game, saying that an initial scan of the wrist done at Busch Stadium did not reveal any fractures in the bone.
The scans he was scheduled for Monday morning were done to get a more detailed look at the structure of the left wrist.
Tim Hudson isn't human.
8 innings pitched. 8 strikeouts. Retired 20 straight. 17 groundouts. 89 pitches.
And oh yeah...the braves lead 2-0 because Hudson hit a 2 run homer. One man show tonight.
I gave him a hearty "War Eagle" as he crossed home plate.
Proving that you, sir, are a better man than I.
Tim Hudson isn't human.Nicest guy in the world as well. Seriously. Dude is a great human being.
8 innings pitched. 8 strikeouts. Retired 20 straight. 17 groundouts. 89 pitches.
And oh yeah...the braves lead 2-0 because Hudson hit a 2 run homer. One man show tonight.
Its good news and bad news.
Your homerun king is out.
Your strikeout king is too.
Another new league record!
I'm still gonna' keep harping on the inexplicable absence of hitting by the Braves. In the Texas series, which they lost, they scored 3, 4, and 4 runs. Now, against the Blow Jays, Tim Hudson is the ENTIRE offense in a 2-0 win. Hey, they're 8 games over .500 and leading the wildcard race but that's because they lead the National League in pitching. We could always depend on a pitcher to get a bunt down or execute a critical sacrifice. Not any more. And hey there are Michael Bourn rumors buzzing around.

FUCK YOU.Too late! I'm going to see that this deal gets done by weeks end after that outburst. Braves fans will love him. Houston will weep.
Too late! I'm going to see that this deal gets done by weeks end after that outburst. Braves fans will love him. Houston will weep.
bourn has 7 more stolen bases than the entire braves roster combined. the braves have been caught stealing 20 times compared to 23 stolen bases. he will be an immediate impact for run support, but the braves need a touch more than bourn's .280 average and 1 hr...they need a power hitter too. heyward suxxor.Uggla has disappointed. Braves struggle v LH pitching which is also Bourn's hang up.
on a side note: uggla, no offense chopper, doesn't hustle.
Too late! I'm going to see that this deal gets done by weeks end after that outburst. Braves fans will love him. Houston will weep.
YOU'RE gonna see to it? Who the hell are you, George Costanza?
*snicker* ...with plate and utensils.
Uggla has disappointed. Braves struggle v LH pitching which is also Bourn's hang up.
YOU'RE gonna see to it? Who the hell are you, George Costanza?Maybe.
I love how everyone forgets that Brian McCann is a fucking machine, and without him the Braves would be as shitty as the Cards...or even the Astros. Ugla hit a homerun today.
You cut me to the core, baby.I'm just messing, you know I love you like whoa. :)
Uggla is up to .176 now. It's barely even the allstar break, negative nancy.
Have to say the Bravos have been swinging better the last couple of games. 10 games over .500 and still 4 1/2 back. Damn. It's definitely the wildcard or nothing this year.
It's barely even the allstar break, negative nancy.
Got my ticket to watch two minor league teams play tomorrow night at Camden Yards!
Got my ticket to watch two minor league teams play tomorrow night at Camden Yards!I didn't realize the Cubs had to travel to the O's this year.
I didn't realize the Cubs had to travel to the O's this year.
Also, is it sad to anyone else that the fans of the 3 worst teams in MLB are talking smack in this thread? Weak smack, but smack none the less.Nah go right ahead. My team is good but can't do the little things well so they are going to settle for second in their division. And I pulled for this bunch when they were miserably bad too only smack talk wasn't invented yet so we just sat around afterwards wondering why we wasted three and a half hours of our lives when we could have been doing something useful like catching a nap.
Was just browsing the standings this morning and jesus, i had no idea one team had already made it to 50 losses.

You obviously have nothing better to do than to make fun of those who are less fortunate and obviously physically and mentally challenged. That makes you a bad bad bad man. Scum of the earth and the lowest common denominator. I am shocked and appalled that you would stoop so low. You are beneath contempt. How do you look at yourself in the mirror every morning knowing that you made fun of the most helpless, defective and pathetic of God's creatures?
Oh, and eff you.
I think you just called Aubie16 a bammer!
I'll be at Camden Yards in Baltimore for the Cardinals/ Orioles game tomorrow night. Can we beat them during our typical middle of the year shitting of the bed? Hmm...
You near the stadium? We're leaving College Park in 30 minutes to go tonight.
Nice ballpark you got there, AUT1.
It's awesome, too bad there isn't a team to utilize it.
Brian McCann won again last, went 4/5 with an .800 batting average.
Brian McCann won again last, went 4/5 with an .800 batting average.
Perhaps you'd like to trade him to the Cardinals for Ryan Franklin, an empty bucket for popcorn, a half eaten bag of sunflower seeds, and a slightly used rosin bag?
Isn't that redundant fucktard? No. 4/5 dictates the hits/at bats, .800 was his batting average. Whore.
After last nights performance by reliever Ryan Franklin, I expect he will either go on the DL for an extended period of time, or just get cut outright. We have the O's to thank for that. I've thought for a month he needed to not be on the active roster, but I don't get paid the big bucks like the GM or LaRussa.
So thanks!
Chopper showed up. Damn, he's short!
No. 4/5 dictates the hits/at bats, .800 was his batting average. Whore.
You are right. You usually are about 1 time out of two, about half the time.or .500

Chop, you picked a good night to go. Sounds like Carp was dealing.
You're welcome btw.
I propose that if we move teams from the AL/NL, that we ship Philadelphia and another good team, like Atlanta, to the AL East, and Baltimore moves to the NL Central.
Chop, you picked a good night to go. Sounds like Carp was dealing.
And as I watch and listen to the Atlanta telecast and their marvelling at how close McCann was to hitting a solo dinger to tie it up I blah blah blah bla fuck fuck fuckity blah blather blah blah
*snicker* the Bravos lost to my shitty O's
:haha:
I'm sorry, did you say something? This is about my ABBA comment about six months ago right? Because it can't be over Michael can't hit left handed pitching to save his life Bourn trade rumors. :moon:
This is about my DERP DERP blah blah blecky blah blah babble blah blah
Anyway,I am a total douche...
FIXT. But I think there is an echo in here. Did you say something?Doesn't it require a lot of time and effort to be a total douche?
Yeah, and I was there, during the hottest day of my life, with my two children. I mean, it did rain for about 15 minutes, but then it went from holy shit hot to super khamahamaha hot.
Fucking Orioles.
I noticed in the paper yesterday that there are now 2 teams with 50 losses. FML

Pujols might be off the DL today. 2 weeks to recover from a broken wrist? Either the Cardinals doctors got their degree at the University of Tijuana (The Happiest Place on Earth), or Albert really is a machine.
I saw that this morning and thought they were full of shit.
Pujols receives medical clearance, will be activated tonight
Perhaps Albert Pujols is a machine. Defying initial projections that he would miss four to six weeks due to a hairline fracture of the distal tip of his left radius, Pujols has received medical clearance to return to the Cardinals just 16 days after suffering the injury.
Pujols will be activated from the disabled list tonight, according to the club, however, it is not yet known whether he will be penciled into the lineup. Pujols will be put through a rigorous fielding and hitting regimen before tonight’s game before a final decision is made on tonight's lineup. No corresponding roster moves have been made at this time.
Pujols foreshadowed his early return on Monday in word and deed.
“I can’t wait to get back on the field,†Pujols said Monday. “Hopefully, it can be (today). If it’s not, whenever the time comes will be the right time to play.â€
Pujols also took ground balls and hit off a pitching machine Monday, implying his readiness to return. The three-time NL Most Valuable Player has been on the disabled list since June 20.
General manager John Mozeliak on Monday described the club as optimistic about Pujols’ return but cautioned, “We don’t want to get ahead of ourselves.â€
However, once doctors declared Pujols fit to return Tuesday, there was little question the slugger would make his way back into the lineup.
Pujols insisted Monday that he is able to swing without discomfort. He said he has hit off a machine throwing 89 or 90 miles per hour.
Manager Tony La Russa has stayed abreast of Pujols’ progress. He acknowledged Monday there was no reason for Pujols to go on a rehab assignment once cleared by doctors.
“You listen to the experts. You listen to him because you trust him,†La Russa said. “If he’s ready, there’s no need to wait. Most of all, you listen to him because he’s going to know best.â€
Pujols has declared himself pain-free: “If I felt any pain, I wouldn’t be swinging,†he said Monday.
Pujols suffered the injury in a collision June 19 with Kansas City Royals third baseman Wilson Betemit. Initial projections called for Pujols to remain in a soft cast for four weeks before resuming baseball-related activities. An August return seemed more likely than him becoming available before the All-Star break; however, Pujols has exited the disabled list after the minimum 15 days the two previous times he has been lost to injury.
Since the day after his injury Pujols has said he has felt good enough to play. “I feel like I could have played the next day if they let me. But obviously the MRI and the CT scan said differently,†he said.
Pujols is hitting .279 with 17 home runs, 45 RBIs and a .855 on-base-plus-slugging percentage this season.
A couple of 20 game winning streaks and the Cubs are back in the hunt.
With the impending All Star break Pujols trade and a little pitching, I see a 2nd half Cubbie resurgence.
It's still baseball season? It was canceled in Houston back in May...
The day after opening day?
How bout them Bravos? They may not catch the Phils but at least they are fully in control of teh wildzcard.
Any predictions before the trade deadline?
Any predictions before the trade deadline?
The Braves suck...there is your trade deadline.
I can not stand to watch Gonzalez or Heyward bat...it's turrible.
The Braves suck...there is your trade deadline.
I can not stand to watch Gonzalez or Heyward bat...it's turrible.
Here's the deal. Heyward has too much natural talent and is way too young to even think about trading him. But Gonzales and McClouth need to be served up on a platter to someone...anyone. I was yelling at the tube last night every time one of them came to bat. YOU SUCK!!!!!
The Braves need to bite the bullet, unload these two clowns and go get a big stick or two. That used to be the M.O. for Sheurholz (sp?) every year. See where they are at the break, then go get what they need.
I would be ok with keeping McClouth and getting rid of Gonzo and Dan look at me sporting a .196 average Uggla.I believe Mr. Uggla is on a 16 game hitting streak...just saying.

The Astros plan to trade their entire fucking team to Sea World in exchange for Shamu and two trained seals that can balance baseballs on their nose.Oh yeah...
Oh yeah...
Had to use a crooked broom, because, you know...it was just the Astros.
The Cardinals have traded center fielder Colby Rasmus and relievers P.J. Walters and Trever Miller to the Toronto Blue Jays in a multi-player package including starting pitcher Edwin Jackson, relievers Octavio Dotel and Marc Rzepczynski and outfielder Corey Patterson, according to sources familiar with the situation. An announcement could come early this afternoon.
Not that it even matters, nor do I give a serious shit, but the Suckasstros got fucked on a bad call last night too. Pujols was credited with a 2 run homer even after a review plainly showed it bounced off the wall and should have been a double. They lost 3-1. Not that they would have won, but the Card bullpen SUCKS... there might have been a chance.
I'll agree with you, but I'm happy with the results. And you batted in the 9th with the tying run at the plate, what more do you want?
And you batted in the 9th with the tying run at the plate, what more do you want?
Oh, little song, little dance. Batman's head on a lance.Good...no I mean sorry, that's awful.
My want list in re: the Suckasstros went out the window in May.
Fukudome heading to Indians for prospects
By Carrie Muskat / MLB.com | 07/28/11 10:33 AM ET
MILWAUKEE -- The Cubs will deal outfielder Kosuke Fukudome to the Indians on Thursday for two Minor Leaguers.
The two sides were close to finalizing a deal with only minor details still being worked out. A source indicated that Cleveland expected Fukudome to waive his no-trade clause to approve the deal to the Indians.
Details were still being finalized as to which Minor Leaguers were to go to Chicago in the deal.
either the Cubs nor the Indians have commented on or confirmed the reports.
Fukudome, 34, is batting .273 with the Cubs with three homers, 15 doubles, two triples and 13 RBIs in 87 games. He has a .374 on-base percentage.
The left-handed hitter is owed about $4.7 million for the rest of the season, and the Cubs may pick up most of that money. Fukudome has a limited no-trade clause but it is not known which teams are on his no-trade list. He left Japan to sign a four-year with the Cubs in December 2007.
Cubs are freeing up money to pay for Albert.
I'm guessing that the Braves are just giving up on it this year. Why the hell else would you have Julio Lugo and some Martinez guy on your fucking roster? They have too many weak links to make a serious push at overtaking the Phillies.
It's a shame, because you could have had all .273 of Fukudome.
Ed Zachary. I'm all for jmar's suggestion of going after Bourne or somebody dynamic to get on base. Either way, they've got to find a way to produce some runs. McClouth has been a frickin' flop. What is at now...about .225? The pitching is there (Kimbrel looks untouchable) but for some reason, everyone outside of McCann and now Freeman, is having a crappy year at the plate. And they're still about 17 games over .500.
Pujols strikes out swinging with the tying run on 2nd, Houston wins.
Uggla has a 18 game hitting streak... I don't know what more you could ask? David Ross is doing a pretty good job. I don't see why you guys think they are just giving up?
Have you watched them? I just said that it looks like Uggla has shaken off the slump, but Julio Lugo, and whoever the Martinez guy is? Really? There's nothing better out there? I know at one point last night Lugo was 0 for 3 with 3 fucking strikeouts. :puke:Well, I do agree that the Braves offense sucks balls. However, they are still winning games. Martin Prado went 0 for fucking 9 Tuesday night. Heyward is not looking good at all...and don't get me started on Alex Gonzalez.
Well, I do agree that the Braves offense sucks balls. However, they are still winning games. Martin Prado went 0 for fucking 9 Tuesday night. Heyward is not looking good at all...and don't get me started on Alex Gonzalez.
But but but, they are still winning.
Meanwhile in Baltimore..................... the team still continues to suck, thank god for the Astro's or we would officially be the worst team in MLB. Don't worry Huston, doing things like signing a kid out of Cal-State Northridge, reactivating our DH and continuing to not give a damn about pitching, we will soon pull you out of the cellar.
Don't you DARE try to fuck up last place for us. We have to have a goal... right now, losing 100+ seems to be the target. Don't deny us the only crown we have a chance of winning, asshole.

Baltimore 41-59
Houston 34-70
No way you can catch Houston, unless the Astros have 40 games left with the BoSoxCardinalsand PhilliesCubs.
We beat y'all last night, mofo. So up yourn...
Dammit, just one year, just one, why, for the love of all that is holly, why can't we go out and get some decent pitching? Why?
We trade Mussina when we should have kept him to build a young staff around. But NOOOOO, he's getting old, can't resign him, he went 11-15, doesn't have it in him anymore, what does he do you ask? Well gather around kiddos and Uncle AUT1 will tell you what he did. He went to the New York fucking dog ass Yankees and rolls off 17, 18 and 17 wins the next three years. Yup, we let him go to free agency and he is brilliant. Forget the fact that he pitched pretty damn good the year his record was shit, wasn't his fault he had no help. He only had a high 3 ERA, 200+ SO, and I know that opponents only batted something like .240 against him that year.
Fuck this, now I am mad!
And fuck you Peter Angelos!
i must say...no one will stop the phillies from winning the world series. if you think the braves have excellent pitching the phillies are that much better. on my 3 ballpark series, we saw the phillies 2x...the phillies pitching is spectacular across the board. there hitting isn't much better than the braves but with victorino back and howard a second half batter they will be hard to handle.Let's use facts. The Phillies and the Braves are tied head to head this season...I'm pretty sure.
b.t.w. i am not a phillies fan.
one of the funniest things we saw @ citi-field was a rookie met's pitcher sporting a pink dora backpack. welcome to the big leagues kid.
The O's have always sucked for the most part. Why are you acting like this is something new for you? :poke::fu:
i must say...no one will stop the phillies from winning the world series. if you think the braves have excellent pitching the phillies are that much better.Roy Ozwalt can suck AWK's dick.

We beat y'all last night, mofo. So up yourn...
Me and my big fucking mouth.
Yeah, Houston beat the Cards again tonight.
But Hunter Pence is about to be traded.
To quote an infamous X-er - FUCK FUCK FUCKITY FUCK!
:fu:
You mean like Atl pre 1991?
You have to remember that I am in my 30's. The O's had a good little run of being right there in the 90's. I vaguely remember 1983, remember more my old man being happy about it than the actual games. Before that, I don't give a shit what they did. I know what they were capable of before Angelos decided to not give a fuck anymore.
Dilemma: The Cards can't hit. Their offense sucks.
Solution: Trade a young bat to the Toronto Blue Jays, in exchange for a rental #4 starter, and two bullpen pitchers.
Result: 0-2, at home, against the worst team in baseball, since the trade, collecting 5 runs and 11 hits in the two games combined.
Fuck me.
Aaaaannnnd the Braves look anemic against the Bucs. My favorite shitty centerfielder, Nate McClouth, whiffing again in the clutch late in the game. Can't wait til Jordan Schaefer gets back so Gonzales can insert his stellar .225 batting average back in the line up.
I misremembered. Shafer is at .240. My bad, Jordan. Think about this. The Braves are 16 games over .500 right now and in control of the wildcard race for the most part. This is happening with:
Shafer at .240
McLouth at .228
Heyward at .223
Gonzales at .230
Uggla at .205 (Granted, he looks to be back on track)
On the bright side, Freddie Freeman is a flat out ballah, both in the field and at bat. This guy looks like an 8 year veteran. He's got a sweet swing and the past two games, I've seen him take pitches that he may have been fooled on or was overmatched...and just flick his arms out there and punch a little liner for a hit. Great bat control and he's at .292 now.

Hey, you watch your dirty whorish mouth. I watched em in the rotten years!
It appears, APPEARS the Bravos won MOST of their pennants before 1991 using non-Chizad math.
Major league titles: World Series titles (3) 1914 • 1957 • 1995
NL Pennants (17): 1877 • 1878 • 1883 • 1891 • 1892 • 1893 • 1897 • 1898 • 1914 • 1948 • 1957 • 1958 • 1991 • 1992 • 1995 • 1996 • 1999
National Association Pennants (4): 1872 • 1873 • 1874 • 1875
East Division titles (11): 1995 • 1996 • 1997 • 1998 • 1999 • 2000 • 2001 • 2002 • 2003 • 2004 • 2005
West Division titles (5): 1969 • 1982 • 1991 • 1992 • 1993
Is that when they were in Boston and Milwaukee? If it's before 1980, then it's before my time. :moon:
Damn. It appears the Phillies are taking Pence. I guess Atlanta is going to stand around playing with it's dick while everyone else is stacking up for the run.
Damn. It appears the Phillies are taking Pence. I guess Atlanta is going to stand around playing with it's dick while everyone else is stacking up for the run.Yeah the Astros wanted Teheran in that trade talk and the Braves want to keep him.
Holy shit. Braves trade Jordan Schaffer and some pitching prospects to the Astros for Michael Borne. Borne brings a .300 average to Atlanta with 40 stolen bases. With the way Freeman and Uggla are hitting, I'm liking this trade.
Costanza, good speed guy. Almost turned a bunt attempt into a 3 base error (and I still believe he was safe). Not sure how he'd do as every day leadoff. I was disappointed that he never got a steal sign the few times he's been on base in the last few games. If Chipper and McCann can get healthy again, the Braves should have a potent lineup. I think Dan should stay in cleanup with McCann batting 3rd and Freeman batting 5th, but I'm betting no way in hell does Chipper move to 6th.Yeah it's kind of like the aging Jeter thing with Chipper in the 4 spot. I even like Freeman third, Uggla 4th and McCann fifth.
Just listened to the local sports. They gave the Astros report. The Suckasstros won over the Reds in 10 4 - 3. I did not know one single name they mentioned. NOT. ONE.
Fuck 'em.
Fuck Derrick Lowe! Why the fuck didn't the Braves try to get rid of him? He's sporting an 8-10 record with an ERA up around 5. He let the Nationals ass rape him tonight, even Ankiel hit a fucking grand slam off of his ass. Its time to give up hope fellow Braves fans, this team is letting it all slip out of reach. The Dbacks or Giants will take the wildcard spot.
I agree. No way can they let him continue to go out and give up 4-8 runs a game. I say it's time to move Mike Minor back up into the rotation. Put Lowe in the bullpen for middle relief in extended situations. Something has to give.I concur...some pitchers go in a mini-slump like Jurgens but I've only seen two decent outings from Lowe and it seems no lead can be safe while he's on the mound. Impressed with this Constanza guy. He slaps the ball around and should provide the Braves almost another run per with Bourn in the lineup if the damn pitchers can lay a fn bunt down. That was the turning point with me. Should have been second and third with one out but instead they force at third, then get a K and make out like champs. The what-if and could-have-beens matter in this game when we are talking abcs and giving your team a chance. Hanson hasn't been particularly sharp and Hudson's split finger is on about one in three outings. I certainly wouldn't bet on the Braves being the wild card team as of today.

With Jair Jurrjens hitting the DL, I hope those young guns we refused to trade are ready for the prime time. Otherwise, the Bravos may miss the post season.
That's what is so great about being a Cubs fan...no stress after April 15th.
That and you are going to have Pujols next year.
Fucker.
With Lowe taking the mound tomorrow night, I'll only be watching to see if Dan can make it 29 games. He'll have to go 5-5 with 10 RBI's to give his team a chance.
cubs + pujols (http://www.solving-math-problems.com/image-files/sym_equal_not_sign-blue.jpg) championship
I didn't get to see any of the series with the Mets. Did Freddie's streak end?
Cards fall 4 back to the Brewers. Pujols now batting .128 against the Brew Crew this year. They've figured out how to pitch to him, come inside, and he doesn't have the plate discipline to lay off the outside balls.
Uggla extends it to 30 on a 1-6 night. Braves secured a series win and go to 68-49. Frick...19 games over .500 and the biggest deficit in baseball. With the hitting finally coming around, this team looks like the complete opposite of earlier in the season. Best staff in baseball (statistically) for most of the first half. Now, Hanson is getting MRI's, Lowe just plain teh sux and Jurrjens looks human. Beachey pitched well last night so they need to piece together a rotation the rest of the way to get them into the wildcard.
They have the Marlins again tonight so hopefully, Uggla can tie the Bravos record. Worried about the opener against the Cubbies because Zambrano will junk ball him to death.
Beachy pithced one hell of a game, and I hated to see him get a ND. One thing I noticed last night, is that the Marlins have no fan support. Hell I've seen more fans at a Huntsville Stars game.
Did you see big ole Mike Stanton swing and have the bat slip out of his hands. It flew into the stands about 100 mph. VERY little chance of anyone being hit.
Quick update. Uggs is at 31 games and has 2 hits with 2 knocked in so far. Huddy looks good, Bravos up 6-0 in the 5th.Yeah hopefully Vizciano can eat some innings when the starters struggle.
But the best news of the day? SCOTT "POINT SHAVING MOTHERFUCKING" PROCTOR WAS RELEASED TODAY!!! THE BRAVES ARE BACK IN IT!!!!
Yeah hopefully Vizciano can eat some innings when the starters struggle.
As a resident of Texas for 36 years, I keep wondering why the rest of the nation pays any attention to our political and cultural absurdities and yet still chooses Texans as presidents. Our most revered historical moment, the Alamo, was arguably a mass suicide. The slaughter in San Antonio was followed by a massacre at Goliad, the fall of the Confederacy to Union forces, and later by the Houston Astros. Texas has a legacy of losing.
Was Rick Perry a starter or a reliever?
Braves have finally sent Zambrano to the retirement home? Thank You!!!

Word is that by the time the team came to the locker room, he had already cleared out his locker and declared he was retiring. About. Fucking. Time.
Well the streak is over, and the Braves lost two of three to the fucking Cubs.:haha:

In case you haven't noticed, and judging by the attendance you haven't, the Cubs have managed to win a few here and there, and are threatening to climb out of the cellar.

Assured of a series win against the baby bears. 5-4 win with incredible clutch pitching. Kimbrel ties the rookie record for saves with 40. Aramis Ramirez has a 5-5 night, the first of his career. But then, how many others ever have a 5-5 night in their entire career? Great game.
Is it just me or does it seem like it is the phillies, braves, rangers, red sox, yankees.....and then everyone else?
Seriously, it's beginning to look that way. Plus, as much as I've said they'll fade, the Brew Crew is looking like the real deal.
Cards have got to be the most disappointing team in baseball this year.
You are delirious. I never thought the Suckasstros would win it all, but I sure as fuck never counted on being the worst fucking team in all of MLB...
So that begs the question, what's more disappointing? Being picked to finish last, and finishing last? Or being tabbed to be a division contender, and being closer to .500 than you are the division leaders?
Secret answer C: Not winning a World Series in more than 100 years.

Berkman to the Rangers???
Championship...
Nothing official from the STL beatwriters. One said he's heard it, but just on message boards. I wouldn't be upset if it happened, though, he deserves to play for a team that's going somewhere in October.

I just heard the local show here talking about it. Cruz went down yesterday with a hammy I believe and what better way than to get someone in here to make up for Cruz? Berkman? Damn. Can you imagine the line-up of Hamilton, Cruz, Berkman, Young, Kinsler, Murphy, Andrus and Beltre when/if they all get healthy??? Damn dude!!!They'd still lose to the Phillies.
They'd still lose to the Phillies.

Apparently the Braves are ready for football season too, and don't give a damn about playoffs.
You shut your damn dirty mouth. Braves go 4-4 the rest of the way, Cards need to go 7-2 to catch them.
They have 3 of those 7 wrapped up in a nice little bow this weekend.
You do realize that we will now be swept, right?I will eat my
Wow...flipping channels last night and said, let me see if the Braves are on. Found them just as Kimbrel gets the second out in the 9th. Up 5-4 and nobody on. Cool, they needed that. Next guy hits a high chopper to Chipper...a Chipper-chopper if you will. Sweet, game over and the magic number is reduced.
Wait...I'm sorry....what the hell just happened? Excuse me, Chipper...did you just let that ball go because...the lights were in your eyes? On a one bounce chopper you didn't even have to move for? Really? Really?
Okay Kimbrel, go ahead and get this last guy. Apparently, Larry's eyes are too sensitive to light for him to get that last out. Kimbrel deals a chest high heater....BOOOMMM....upper deck walk off.
Hey, thanks Chippy. I've got some Visine in my bag if you still need it.
Hey, give him some credit...at least he didn't spike himself.
I felt for Larry, though. The walk off HR was majestic. I imagine he still had that flash bulb thing going on and couldn't really watch it leave the yard.
Who spiked himself?

Go ahead and give me -100 more, because I still haven't made teh connections. It was out of my reach, what do you want me to do dive for it?
Why, with 2 games left on the season and up 1 game in the wild card race, doesn't anyone in the Braves organization have a problem with Lowe taking the mound? Why? Did they really think he wouldn't give up 5 runs in 4 innings? The mother fucker has an ERA over 5, and he's lost sevenmotherfuckingteen games by himself!!!Exactly, I saw the score tonight and did this. :suicide:
I hope the Cards win the wild card.
Absolutely no fucking reason in the world why the Braves, with....
1. Bourn
2. Prado
3. McCann
4. Uggla
5. Freeman
through half of the lineup, can't get into the fucking playoffs.
Fuck Freddi Gonzalez. Fuck the Atlanta Braves. Fuck baseball.
I hope the Cards win the wild card.
You just became my favorite bammer. He's right though. The Braves don't deserve shit this year. After this collosal collapse, they deserve nothing.
Carp vs. Huddy tonight to see who makes it in...
Meanwhile, I have been teh biesbol stress free since April.
Meant to ask you today, did you see "Catching Hell" last night on teh ESPNs? Pretty well put together. That poor Bartman kid. I didn't realize how bad it had gotten for him afterwards.
No, I hadn't heard about that. I will have to see if I can catch a replay sometime though. I remember that he had to move, and the real shame was that Alex Gonzalez could have saved his ass, but booted a sure double play just after his bonehead move. I still hate Gonzo for that reason.
I watched the whole Bartman thing last night too. With all due respect to our Cubbie fans on board, I lost all respect for that fanbase. Wow....just wow. After seeing that, I'm 100% certain Bartman would have been killed had security not gotten him out of there. No eggzajeration. They would have killed the guy. They were just awful. But to me, its says more about the people wanting to kill him than it does about him. Most of the ones I saw looked like pathetic losers.
They were just awful. But to me, its says more about the people wanting to kill him than it does about him. Most of the ones I saw looked like pathetic losers.
I truly think they believe Bartman had invoked the "curse" and everything that happened after that, especially Gonzo dropping the tailor made double play ball, was because of that curse.
If they believe this kind of crap, then they deserve to lose and this explains why they have been so good at it for 100 years. They probably could have won Game 7 if they had not waded so much in their own poop and blamed Bartman the 24 hours following Game 6
OHHHHH, the curse be real.
Anyone with any sense knows that play had little to no effect on the outcome of the game.

I completely and whole heatedly disagree with you there. If Alou makes the catch, I think the Cubs win the World Series that year.
PFFFFFFTTTTTT....it would have been the 2nd out in the 8th inning. Gonzo screwed the pooch in that game far worse than Bartman and the Marlins murdered Prior from that point on.
No doubt about that. But I am a firm believer in the whole, if something did or didn't happen, it affects everything around it. Would Gonzo have shit the bed if not for the Bartman incident? Would the Marlins have rallied like they did if the fans would have stayed as loud?
It's funny you say that because they had a quick take from Mike Lowery (I believe that's his name) from the Marlins. He said they looked at each other in the dugout and said, "Let's make this guy famous".
8 runs in that inning. EIGHT. Did you get a chance to watch that documentary? I couldn't stop watching. Compelling stuff.
Any team worth it's weight in salt wouldn't have let that foul ball bother them. If they wilted that easy, then clearly the better team won that series.
For the first time since I can't remember when, I did not attend a single baseball game this year.
And... I am... ok with that...
I only attended one game this year...and I think it may have been the Braves' only win this year against the Phillies.
I attended several. Bought some sort of season pack for the kids. They have fun at the Rangers game. I also just got word that I will have playoff tickets...whooty wooooo...
Tickets? For which team?
Braves won't be in it.
up by 8.5 with 2 weeks left and they nose-dived.
Went to one game. Saw Proctor blow a lead and ultimately pick up a loss against the Orioles. That should have been a sign to me on this season would end.
I wish we could parade his ass back to the mound and let him pitch to a few batters. It would be fitting for him to pick up another loss to finish off the Braves 2011 campaign.
Booo, fucking booo. Booooooooooo. Someone should be fucking fired. That was the worst fucking collapse I have ever seen.
Fuck You Braves.

It was pathetic. Who should be the first to get fired? I say Lowe, then just clean house with those overpaid under producing fucks.
Again.....Fuck Uggla too. That asshole, a lot of people forget, didn't do shit the first 1/2 of the season.
Bourn
Prado
McCann
Uggla
Freeman
I'm good with getting rid of any other player not in that 5. Well, keep Constanza. He's got some wheels and did a good job at the plate. The rest can go, and I expect them to go.

Meanwhile, the Cards are handling business like they should. Normally I'm pissed, and I am somewhat, but I'm just ready for this to be over. Braves truly didn't deserve the playoffs this season. The GM HAS to get some starting pitching this off season, and a few more for the bullpen. Venters and Kimbrel can't do it all. Not all season, anyway. The pitching gave up 4 runs in 13 innings. The team averaged 2-3 runs per game for the most part of the year. I don't think pitching was the problem this year. Heyward, with as much hype as he received coming out the gate last year, is officially overrated. McCann - wilted. Jones - wilted. The rest of the lineup - pffffffft. We need to pick up some bats in the off season and rid of Lowe.

Hudson pitched his ass off last night. Giving up 2 ER in 7 innings SHOULD win you a ballgame every time.
Yep. The Braves were 5 out of 32 the last five games with runners in scoring position. They hit .195 in the month of September with runners in scoring position. The scored just over 3 runs per game in September...only better than San Diego I think...And you cheer for the Cubs?
Pitching wasn't the problem down the stretch...

Theo Epstein's big signing?
Wrong GM?
I think that he is inferring that with the collapse of the Sox and the Hendry firing, that Epstein will possibly be working for the Cubs.
Just a hunch though...
Yep.
Fuck all y'all.
Never mind that Bud fucking Seelig is blocking the sale of the Fuckasstros. Never mind that r proposed new owner is a Ponzi scheme running racist EEOC violating securities fraud dodging motherfucker with shitty choices in business partners.

Not according to my husband...
More like a friendly "fuck off."
And it worked. Series ties 1-1. I'm calling you "cock break" every day until the Cards season is over.
Works for me, Dabo. The way they are playing, won't be but a couple more days anyway...
Which is also working for Auburn. I'd legally change my name to Dabo if it meant Auburn running the table. You'd change your name to cock breath?

Hardee Har Har. Mr. Fun McFunnyman.
On a lighter note, with the Braves firing their hitting coach and the GM laying it down to people like Jason Wayward.....2012 is the year of the Chop, beeshes.

They are going to be good. I think the injury bug with your starting rotation and then the cold bats is what did you in. Maybe you didn't have enough chicken sacrifices before the games?
True. But I still think we had enough pitching (Outside of Lowe) to keep us in most games. It may have been you that posted that stat about the Cards hitting .280 and Braves .230 down the stretch. Piiiiiiiitiful.
I was stoked watching the Cards come back and slap the Phillies around last night. Good game.
Just wish the Rally Squirrel could make the trip for game 5.
IfWhen the Cards go down tonight, I'm fine with anyone winning it but the Phillies.
AAAaaannnd...the cursed Yankees go down.

I need a reason for tonight's game.

Yeah, I thought about that after I hit "post."
Maybe the squirrel can save me.
Sources: Theo Epstein nears Cubs job
Theo Epstein, the general manager of the Boston Red Sox for two championship teams in the last eight seasons, could be on his way to the Chicago Cubs, two sources said Tuesday night.
Although a Red Sox official with direct knowledge of the negotiations told ESPNBoston.com's Gordon Edes on Tuesday that "it's likely he's going to go but nothing has been finalized,'' WEEI radio in Boston reported on Friday that a deal had been reached.
Epstein would receive a five-year contract for in excess of $15 million from the Cubs, but a title had not been agreed upon, according to the report.
The Red Sox and Cubs were still negotiating compensation that Boston would receive from Chicago for Epstein, who had one more year left on his Red Sox contract. Talks could continue for a few more days.
The Cubs' negotiations with Epstein about taking over the top baseball job in the organization have been going so smoothly that the team has asked Major League Baseball what protocol will be for compensation if Epstein decides to join the Cubs, a source with knowledge of the negotiations told ESPNChicago.com's Bruce Levine.
A source with knowledge of the talks told ESPN's Karl Ravech that the compensation would involve prospects and/or cash, but no major league players would be part of the deal, following traditional precedent.
Also, Epstein's title with the Cubs would be above his current title of executive vice president/general manager of the Red Sox, a source told Levine.
"Nothing will be resolved as quickly as has been speculated,'' a source close to the negotiations told Edes, "and it is still unclear how this will be resolved.''
The Boston Herald first reported that Epstein was on the cusp of joining the Cubs.
Since the possibility of Epstein going to the Cubs first surfaced in August, Red Sox ownership has downplayed the possibility because Epstein is under contract with the Red Sox through 2012. But at no point have Red Sox owners John Henry or Tom Werner ever squashed the talk completely, nor has Epstein definitively ruled out the move.
Neither the Cubs nor Red Sox have formally acknowledged that the Red Sox granted permission to the Cubs to interview Epstein, but an industry source said Tuesday that Cubs owner Tom Ricketts spoke with Epstein last week and that Epstein met with Cubs president Crane Kenney in Chicago last weekend.
Sources indicated last week that the Red Sox have had informal conversations about changes in the event that Epstein did leave for the Cubs -- and at the top of their hierarchy, there have been some discussions about the identity of the next manager without Epstein.
The Red Sox also have had informal conversations about candidates other than assistant GM Ben Cherington to replace Epstein, were he to leave. But Cherington appears to be the heir apparent if Epstein departs.
If Epstein leaves the Red Sox, he will likely be restricted, in an agreement between the teams, from bringing any Boston employees with him without approval from the Red Sox, according to an American League source.
Executives with the Red Sox either declined comment or did not respond to requests for a response. Epstein did not respond to a request for comment, although there were indications Tuesday night that the Red Sox were hoping that Epstein might yet change his mind.
But one Red Sox official said Tuesday that Epstein's departure would not come as a surprise.
"It wouldn't shock me,'' the official said, "but until it happens I won't believe it.''
The last two Red Sox forays into hiring a general manager have taken last-second twists. In 2002, the Red Sox struck an agreement with Oakland's Billy Beane to become GM, only to have Beane call Henry two days later to inform him that he had changed his mind. That opened the way to Epstein's hiring.
Then in 2005, Epstein left the club in a dispute with CEO Larry Lucchino, and the team subsequently hired Cherington and Jed Hoyer as co-general managers. Epstein's departure was short-lived; he was back as GM within three months, with Hoyer later leaving to become general manager of the San Diego Padres.
Cherington's first order of business, if promoted, would be to hire a manager to replace Terry Francona, who left after eight seasons in the job. In Chicago, Epstein would be replacing Jim Hendry, who was let go in July after becoming Cubs GM in 2002, the same year Epstein began with the Red Sox.
The Cubs have a manager under contract for one more year, Mike Quade.
I think I jinxed us. Oh well...I like the Rangers and would love to see them win, but I am not emotionally involved.
Nolan Ryan was the man. I remember him throwing out a first pitch in the World Series in 05. 85 mph up the gut. <3
I guess I am wanting either the Tigers or Cards to win it all. I'm not really a fan of any team that's left, but don't dislike any of them either.
Queue the Pujols to Cubs chatter in 3...2...1...
I'm getting really tired of the "Beast Mode" the Brewers are doing. Hit a single? Beast mode! Home run? Beast Mode! Fuck them, and their beast mode.
If the Cards don't advance, I'm rooting for the AL.
When did we ever stop talking about that? It's a done deal, pretty much, right? Your Dead Bird Pujols jersey is worthless after this year...
Josh Hamilton is one of my favorite feel good stories.

That's because you want him to motorboat you.
Do Rangers close it out tonight? Is that a good thing if they do? Game 1 of the World Series is on the 19th. Would a week off in October be a good/bad thing?
Does anyone but you really give two fucks at a flying doughnut?
Does anyone but you really give two fucks at a flying doughnut?
Winner of game 4 will win the NLCS. I don't know if the Cards can go back to the Keg and take 1. LaRussa already said Carp will go in game 7 on 3 days rest. That worked out so well for us in Philly.
And these games stress me out. Every time a Cardinal pitched to a Brewer, I was expecting them to tie it up.

Oh, Jarhead. I am so sorry for my thoughtless and unsportsmanlike behavior over the past few weeks. I wish the Cardinals and their wonderful fans nothing but the best as they try and close out the series with a win tonight. I am sure Pujols and Berkman will hit grand slam after grand slam, and make you and your friends so happy and joyful. Why, I'll bet baby kittens and sparkly unicorns will pop right out of Berkman's ass as he rounds the bases!!
