Dammit, just one year, just one, why, for the love of all that is holly, why can't we go out and get some decent pitching?  Why? 

We trade Mussina when we should have kept him to build a young staff around.  But NOOOOO, he's getting old, can't resign him, he went 11-15, doesn't have it in him anymore, what does he do you ask?  Well gather around kiddos and Uncle AUT1 will tell you what he did.  He went to the New York fucking dog ass Yankees and rolls off 17, 18 and 17 wins the next three years.    Yup, we let him go to free agency and he is brilliant.   Forget the fact that he pitched pretty damn good the year his record was shit, wasn't his fault he had no help.  He only had a high 3 ERA, 200+ SO, and I know that opponents only batted something like .240 against him that year.   

Fuck this, now I am mad!

And fuck you Peter Angelos!

i must say...no one will stop the phillies from winning the world series.  if you think the braves have excellent pitching the phillies are that much better.  on my 3 ballpark series, we saw the phillies 2x...the phillies pitching is spectacular across the board.   there hitting isn't much better than the braves but with victorino back and howard a second half batter they will be hard to handle.

You have to remember that I am in my 30's.  The O's had a good little run of being right there in the 90's.  I vaguely remember 1983, remember more my old man being happy about it than the actual games.  Before that, I don't give a shit what they did.  I know what they were capable of before Angelos decided to not give a fuck anymore.

probably...but the fact is, for the last several years (at least in the NL), the phillies have dominated the second half. 

look at the last 10 games.   braves 5-5 and phillies 7-3...with a loss most recently to the second best NL team (imo) the san fran giants.

Atlanta has a base open last season in the winning playoff game versus Frisco and what do they do?
They pitch to the Aubrey Huff, the best clutch hitter on the team and it's over. No the Braves weren't as good as the Giants and certainly not Philly, but Philly floundered which is why it's important to make the right moves and manage the team aside of the pitching staff. Speed doesn't slump! This team will do as well with a fearless baserunner which is why I wanted Bourn...but Hunter Pence has been mentioned as was Josh Willingham with the possibility of trading Minor and one or two lower level prospects. The front office seems to be kicking tires but nothing serious is happening.

Solution:  Trade a young bat to the Toronto Blue Jays, in exchange for a rental #4 starter, and two bullpen pitchers.

Result:  0-2, at home, against the worst team in baseball, since the trade, collecting 5 runs and 11 hits in the two games combined.
