According to this report from AL.com, current defensive coordinator Will Muschamp is unlikely to return for a second season at Auburn. Citing sources within the Tigers' football program, Muschamp is expected to leave to be the head coach at South Carolina, follow Kirby Smart to Georgia as his defensive coordinator or fill Smart's old position as Alabama's defensive coordinator.
Muschamp will have options, and staying at Auburn is certainly one of those but it seems that it is the least likely at the moment.
Muschamp was in the running for South Carolina's defensive coordinator position last year after being fired by Florida but decided to make a return to The Plains, where he served in the same role from 2006-07. The former Florida head coach emerged as the front runner to the Gameroosters' head job this week once Smart, according to reports, agreed to become the next head coach at Georgia.
Muschamp is expected to have a formal interview with South Carolina athletics director Ray Tanner either Thursday night or Friday.

"Citing sources within the Tigers football program"
Really? Were those the same type sources within the LSU program that said for a fact that Les Miles was gone?
Look, if USCe offers the guy $3 or $4 million to take an SEC Head Corches position, you won't hear a peep out of me other than wishing we had him another year. But to claim he's going to leave a $1.6 million paycheck at Auburn to be the DC at Georgia or Bama? On what planet does that make sense? Think about it. The "Source" is telling whoever the fuck wrote this trash...
"Yeah, uuuhh.....he's interviewing with the Cocks on Thursday...or maybe...umm...Friday...unless he's taking the DC job at Georgia...or....uummm...going to Tuscaloosa to be the DC at Bama. Yeah. But he's definitely not going to be here."

While it's written in typical al.com douchebag style, I can't disagree with a lot of it. How hot is Malzahn's seat next year? How hot would it be if the Miracle at Jordan Hare didn't happen?
I do disagree with Scarbinsky when he says that we are two-three years of recruiting away from competing for the SEC West. By the end of the season, I think our team as a whole could have been a 9-10 win team with a decent quarterback. I don't know if Malzahn can fix it, but Muschamp did his job. Our defense is only going to get better going into 2016. If Malzahn gets the offense going, I think he does more than save his job. I think he makes a run at the SEC West.
But then again, Malzahn's seat is hot. I don't know the inner workings of the program. Maybe Muschamp does see the writing on the wall and is trying to get out as soon as he can.

Muschamp's future and reputation have nothing to do with the temperature of Gus Malzahn's ass. His resume is already set in stone regardless of whether CGM makes it or not. Hell, Auburn fans were dancing in the streets back in 2005 or 6 or whenever it was when he was announced the first time as our DC. He doesn't help himself by going to Georgia in any way shape or form. He doesn't help himself by going to Bama in any way shape or form. A head coaching job at South Carolina? Hey, wish him well. But saying he's worried or needs to get out of Auburn is utter bullshit. Dude is making 1.6 to coach a D and the team WILL be better next year if he stays.

Garner is his boy.
Rocker is not. He was never coming back. It's why uga was able to retain him.
This is most likely true.
And if so I don't blame him bailing. Prob for less money too.
I'll say this again - Jacobs is most of the problem. Period.

I got rid of that Muschamp fuck one time before, when I dicked him around on his contract. I was surprised to see his ass back again and found a way to alienate him as quickly as possible.
The man meddles. He's dumber than a bag of candle wicks. We've got to get rid of him. Got to.
I heard Finebaum talking about Saban and why things work there. He said Saban wouldn't take the job until he got assurances that nobody was going to tell him shit. Not boosters, not ADs, not fans, not ex players, not anybody. He was going to do things his way and if it worked, it worked. If it didn't work over the five years of his contract he'd leave on his own. Until then, sit the fuck down and shut the fuck up. They were so starved for the glory years that they handed him the keys. That guy doesn't exist for us. Jacobs would never hire him.

Where in the hell is Joel Erikson at al. I am a gay twerker that has no balls!!!! I also have no idea how to use the quote function to post stories, so I annoy the piss out of others. I like male genatalia in and around my mouth.? We've got 2-3 guys that are supposed to be Auburn beat writers at that shit hole. I've now disowned that fuck stick, Brandon Marcello. Fuck you with an aids infected, cancre sore covered mule dick.
Before the LSU game, Marcello posts quotes from Rudi about Fournette. Not just quotes, he writes a fucking piece centered on Ford saying 4-Net was just another back. Total bulletin board material...from an AU beat writer. No need...no point in publishing it. WHY??? In fact, you know if you do, it's a complete negative for AU and a motivational piece for the best back in the country at the time. But, you can't wait to get it out there.
Numerous shitty articles later, he posts a piece saying....get this.... Muschamp is reaching out to Marcus Lattimore about joining his hypothetical staff at USCe. No proof of it. No quotes from anyone except Lattimore's mom who says it didn't happen and her son has no interest in coaching.
But let's put this in perspective. Muschamp is our DC. He hasn't resigned. No one at USCe has said Will is coming. Nothing has changed. But our beat writer puts out a piece saying he has no proof but Muschamp is trying to build his staff for the USCe job.

Today, two of the riveting stories from our beat writers focus on why Auburn's defense isn't "sad" to be going to the Birmingham Bowl, and pointing out that this is Gus Malzahn's worst rushing offense ever.
Warm fuzzies.
Side note: I was at the Hyatt - Wynfrey Hotel in the Ham Monday for a continuing education seminar and they already have the Auburn Football Team placards on a couple of the conference rooms. Apparently that's where the Tiggers be staying for the Bowl if anyone wants to play fan-boy.

Today al.com offers a "rare look inside Saban's headset chatter." Amazingly they have coaches in the booth looking for tendencies. Both offense and defense.
All the other coaches at all the other college and high school programs use those communication channels to order pizzas and talk about American Idol.
The other day they had a video: "Watch new signee put on a jersey."
Two articles licking McCarron's ass today.
I hate that site.

As much as I agree that those motherfuckers are biased, and I try not to read them.
I can't really argue with those 2 headlines. troof no?
I disagree with the second. The roster is pretty stacked with all the RS kids hitting the field to join the upperclassmen. There is plenty of talent on this team to win...and win big. I'll predict that none of the 2016 class will move the needle from a W/L perspective.
The answer to the first headline is: no. Their already stacked/processed roster will be the factor in their championship hopes.
AL.com hires the hackiest writers with the hackiest takes. I guess they know their readership, though.

I could only read about half before throwing up in my mouth a little. So, let's get this straight. It's somehow "negative recruiting" to tell a kid that Alabama has a number of top athletes at his position, while we don't have that same depth and you could see the field right off the bat? Heavy competition vs. Almost no competition. We need you. You can help us early.
Will rival schools stop at nothing? Yeah, that seems worthy of an article.

This may be just me being a nitpicking little beesh. Been accused of it before. But look at these quotes from Malzahn on Marlon Character sticking with his commit while USCe continued to recruit him.
"He stayed committed to us through the transition of us losing a defensive coordinator and our secondary coach," Malzahn said. "Those guys kept recruiting him, and he hung in there with us. He stayed with us, he waited until we hired a defensive coordinator and a secondary coach, and I really appreciate his loyalty to us. He's going to be a fantastic player. He's got a very good skill set."

If you listened to Gus presser after NSD. The one thing he kept saying is that most of these guys we have been recruiting for 2 years or more. He said Woody Barrett was hand picked by him and this staff, to run this offense. He said he has been excited about all of his classes but this was the "One" the one they had been waiting on.
I am excited about this class as well, we met a lot of needs which in years past we have always seemed to go with the top of what's available.
I certainly hope this is the "one" because with Gus it's about time the rubber meets the road.

Yup, not one mention of them having the Cam press conference in the same room as a Denver Bronco player's...close enough that Cam and the media could hear him talking about how they shut down Cam and put pressure on him. Again, I would've gotten up and walked out too and I feel that Cam has a more competitive drive than I do.
Let the inbred bammers talk shit, it's their own shitty Coach Shula that put the horrible game plan together. The loss is squarely on his shoulders. Yeah, you can say that the Panther OL did a bad job at protecting him, but as a good OC you have to change it up just a little, especially if it isn't working...and those 2 yard dive plays weren't working at all. I don't remember a screen to the RB being called, that would've maybe been a nice play every once in a while.

The fawning never ends:
How Alabama gets the most bestest defensive lines evAR!! http://www.al.com/alabamafootball/index.ssf/2016/02/the_recruiting_strategy_that_k.html#incart_river_home_pop
Some gems from this oozing include:
Alabama has a seemingly endless supply of defensive linemen because of the way it recruits.
Credit the Tide's national recruiting approach. All but a few schools are somewhat limited by their geography and the areas they traditionally recruit. That means if a school's home state and surrounding states don't have great defensive line prospects that year, the school is out of luck.
However, Alabama isn't limited to one geographic region and has proven it can successfully land players from anywhere in the country.
When you can be picky like Alabama can, the biggest thing comes down to fit in the system..
They quote former Cleveland Browns general manager Phil Savage
AKA Bama radio host and Saban suckup, but that's not noted in this gushing treatise.

Some college in the state was named the best by Forbes. Who cares.
But the UA Law School? It's the most amazing thing ever.

It's almost Easter. In honor of the holiday, al.com blows Trent Richardson.
Here's a ridiculous puff piece about his "rise to the NFL"
Problem? He's "talked" to the Ravens. The team is excited to see what he could maybe do. He worked out for them and they passed on him already, but might give him a shot to make the team.
Seriously? They could write this same story about Chizad or Prowler or GoatBoy. He's going to be given a chance to try out.
Amazing.
It's worth a lengthy knob slob.

Auburn legend (and first scholarship minority player) James Owens passed away. You'd never know it looking at the front page of Al.com though. You have to navigate to the Auburn football page for it. Kevin Turner (RIP) got the royal treatment. Then again, he's a white guy and he played for The Universitah.

Here's what AL.com shows:
Starters prevail 19-10, offense struggles on third down (1) See photos of fans (1) Watch Franklin throw 40-yard bomb Attendance lowest of Malzahn era (1) Watch Jeremy Johnson's 8-yard TD pass See photos of fans (2) Carlton Davis held out Key recruits at Auburn today 2-Minute Drill: What we learned Attendance low (2) Offense struggles (2)
Also: Notes from Alabama's scrimmage Notable numbers from Alabama's scrimmage Ladarius Cowans flips to Alabama from FSU (1) What Nick Saban said after scrimmage Alabama's rising star at running back has second great scrimmage Four star linebacker flips from FSU to Alabama (2 - second story on the same thing with a different headline) Is Bo Scarbrough the next Derrick Henry? Decidedly negative toward AL, sunshine and roses up the Tahd ass.

The slobbering over Richardson continues unabated.
The answer is ZERO. It's worth nothing. Not a dime unless he somehow emerges out of the pack of six backs -- two former starters -- vying for spots.
Most teams only keep four backs on the 53-man roster and one of those is usually a fullback.
Justin Forsett is a guarantee keep. Richardson's not displacing him. Kyle Juszczyk is the Raven's fullback. Richardson's not bumping him. Buck Allen started six games last season when Forsett was hurt. Richardson won't take his spot.
So let's assume that Baltimore keeps five RBs, one above the norm. That means Richardson has to be the best or second best of the remaining four backs competing for a spot.
Terrance West had a good rookie season with Cleveland, but struggled some last year. Still had 230+ yards for Baltimore in limited duty.
Lorenzo Taliaferro was out most of last year with an injury, but had almost 300 yards as a rookie with the Ravens.
Terrance Magee was a rookie last season and on the practice squad.
This is the same Trent Richardson that the Raiders wasted $600,000 on when he couldn't even make it out of training camp. But.... al.com has gushed over this worthless bag of shit repeatedly over the summer.
Richardson was on the juice at Alabama. When he can't do it the NFL, he can't produce.
Speaking of? Seen Barry Bonds lately? Since has no need for the PEDs now, he's shrunk back to something like the size he was back in Pittsburgh in the 90s. I barely recognized him.

This may be the worst one ever in terms of bama bobo honking.
Synopsis: Assclown Bama signee playing in a 7 on 7 tournament against Jameis Winston gets beaten for a TD. Jameis clowns at him a little. Assclown Bama signee cheap shots a receiver, igniting a benches-clearing shoving match.
The behavior of this asshole is lauded by al.com as a shining example of his intensity and competitiveness.
Another great example? When he was a senior in high school a freshman kept running a few yards after a "thud drill" This wonderful young man chased him down and body slammed him.
"The little freshman didn't run 10 yards after being tagged off anymore after that," his douchebag Bama licking fuckhole former coach Glen Vickery said while laughing. "But Ryan's always been that way, and he brought other players to that level for us. Ryan's intensity lifted other players up and his work habits. And I'm telling you, when Ryan said 'Let's go,' they got in line. He was that kind of guy."
What would the story be had Kris Frost cheap shotted a receiver and assaulted a freshman....
I fucking hate al.com.

Big news today!
Mister Proactiv could almost, maybe, possibly even perhaps make the Arizona Cardinals roster. http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2016/05/jake_coker_making_cardinals_is.html#incart_river_home_pop
Well, if it weren't for those pesky receivers "hanging him out to dry" (his words) and causing him to throw interceptions.
But he's got a chance because you know Blake Sims was there last year and he almost, nearly, could have, made the roster. He didn't and wasn't on the practice team, but he came out there you know. And Cheeks LaBacne did, too, so since Sims was nearly on the roster, that means Pizza McGreaserface has the same shot you know.
AND!!
A former Bama punter wants to play in the NFL!! Uncle Rico hasn't played in two years and has "been with three teams" despite never making a roster (how the hell does that work?).
What's more, Mark Inabinnet makes sure to tell us just how fucking ignorant the teams that passed on him were. Look at this pissy whining:
Mandell went to training camp with the Dallas Cowboys as a rookie. In Dallas' opening preseason game in 2014, he punted three times for an average of 43.7 yards, dropping all his punts inside the San Diego Chargers' 20-yard line in his professional debut. Chris Jones, Dallas' incumbent punter, punted twice for a 38.5-yard average with one inside the 20. Two days later, the Cowboys waived Mandell.
Last season, Mandell went to training camp with the Green Bay Packers. Green Bay decided to keep incumbent punter Tim Masthay. The deciding point seemed to be Masthay's five years of experience holding on placements for kicker Mason Crosby.
The guy is trying out for a Canadian team and not even making it there. Who cares.

They also wanted to make sure we all knew that Dameyune Craig was at the HS practice of Auburn commit, Joey Gatewood. Never mind that the two didn't even talk and virtually every school in the country is still trying to get this kid. Oh, and then there's one piece of information that no Auburn fan should be without. Georgia's basketball coach speaking in Columbus and telling the crowd that Coach Smart is used to beating Auburn every year.

The disappointment when Florida strands runners and does not beat LSU in this recap by Drew Champlain is palpable.

One Alabama school landed on a list of the most fun universities in America. (JULIE BENNETT)
Alabama university 1 of country's 'most fun'
The purpose of college is to get an education. Or, at least that's what the parents paying for school believe.
For the students, college can be about getting an education but it can also be about having a hefty dose of fun. With that in mind, you will want to check out a new list by Business Insider which ranks the schools where students have the most fun. You can see the criteria for the rankings here.
One of the universities where students were deemed to be having the most fun is in Alabama.
Auburn University landed at number 27 on the list.
Here's Business Insider's take on Auburn:
"The home football games for Auburn are packed with students shouting "War Eagle," the school's battle cry. It's especially loud when the Iron Bowl — the school's annual matchup against top rival University of Alabama — is played at home in Jordan-Hare Stadium," Business Insider noted. "Before every game, hundreds of students come out to the school's huge tailgates, which are loaded with games, food, and — of course — beer."
Four other SEC schools also made the top 30: The University of Florida (26), University of Mississippi (22), University of Georgia (21) and Vanderbilt University (14).
Number one on the list was University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The university was noted for its active Greek life, thriving music scene and shows and concerts.
Great headline...I'm sure it would have been the same if it were Bama...

Plus, when you look back on the few highlights that occurred in the 2015 campaign, Jason Smith is involved in way more than we realize. He's kind of the forgotten man in all this. Kid is a balla!!!

Stat's indicate he played in eleven games with 13 catches and 3 scores. So one would think he might be considered more than just a fourth or fifth option in his final season. Don't recall any drops plus he knows where the endzone is we just need him on the field and find him.
I want him to play like Steve Smiff, wrestling the ball away scoring touchdowns and giving folks the bizniss.

As a junior, the 4-foot-4 receiver finished the season with a career-high 14 catches for 177 yards and a touchdown despite not registering a reception until the sixth game of the season.
Lectron was nearly 5' feet tall. No midget. Just height-challenged.
Don't talk about Darell like that!
We went through a tough time in the late eighties with top rated RBs getting hurt.
Harry Mose Lectron Williams
Both with neck injuries?

Any possible way the dot I am a gay twerker that has no balls!!!! I also have no idea how to use the quote function to post stories, so I annoy the piss out of others. I like male genatalia in and around my mouth. can throw in a little :poke: They post a piece on Derrick Moncrief, who is at Okie State now. The article says absolutely nothing except that he sat out a year and will be trying to win a safety spot. No need whatsoever for it in the first place....other than being able to quote mama:
"It was rough at first, but seeing how happy he was, and I just knew, OK, he's made the right decision," Erica Moncrief-Taylor said. "He's just so much happier than he was when he was at Auburn. You see the joy in someone's face. I could see the joy when he Facetimed me. Like, oh, he's happy. He loves where he is."

So Alabama has had I believe 7 guys transfer out or dismissed in recent times. Plus, the DC left to take a Head Corch job at that shit hole in Athens. You see, according to the dot I am a gay twerker that has no balls!!!! I also have no idea how to use the quote function to post stories, so I annoy the piss out of others. I like male genatalia in and around my mouth., at Auburn that's the sign of a program in turmoil. Rats jumping off a sinking ship. At Alabama, it's good problem to have. A few quotes from Michael Tacogrande's piece that "Makes sense" of all the recent departures.
"It becomes much more less taboo,(Players leaving) much more of a standard operating procedure. I think that's been a steady evolution towards this. But I think that's just a challenge that a school like Alabama has to face on an annual basis due to the fact that they recruit at such a high level."
"Sometimes at a place like Alabama, a player can feel like they're playing in quicksand because every year, there's another crop of five stars coming in that's pretty dang good."
"But the good news is, Alabama recruits at such a high level, there's no program that's more equipped to replace those guys than they are."
Don't forget about the bama DLine Coach that resigned due to NCAA investigation.

Those awful players who leave the amazing wonder of Turdscaloosa are fucking themselves over.
They just don't make it out there on their own without the guidance of Satan.
@AUChizad The only reason for this story to exist on @aldotcom at all is so they can print this quote "It was rough at first, but seeing how happy he was, and I just knew, OK, he's made the right decision," Erica Moncrief-Taylor said. @MadisonU True, but it goes deeper. We also had Moncrief leave Auburn, & @WesleySinor got Tulsa World to write original story.
@AUChizad Misses the point as is typical in @aldotcom defenses.

The thing is, he's doing this cute snarky sarcasm thing. He thinks I don't pick up on it.
The first tweet from him is basically calling me a tinfoil hat wearing bottomfeeder. Trying to spin it like it's absolutely CRAZY for me to say they are pushing an agenda by posting that quote in that article. I mean, c'mon man, they didn't even write the original story, Tulsa World did! Are they in on the conspiracy too, nutjob?? Like I said, yeah, I get why they would publish a story saying "Hey look, this kid left Auburn and is happier here". Why does AL.com need to publish it, if not to ALSO try to make hay out of him being less happy at Auburn than at lower-tier Oklahoma State? And why would THEY, the local paper, be motivated to do that for any other reason than to make Auburn look comparatively bad next to Bama?
I also sense some sarcasm in the second tweet, but that sarcasm only works if I didn't just bust him on the glaring fucking double standard. I'm fairly positive he really believes that players being happier after they leave Auburn is expected, but if they leave Bama, they're probably not happy about it. It's another example of AL.com just being assholes to their supposed readership because, fuck you, they're going to keep the bias up at all costs and don't care what you tinfoil hat barners think.

"HOW MANY NFL TEAMS WOULD BE BETTER OFF WITH AJ AT QB??!?!"
What's even more mind blowing is that they somehow conclude that:
Chicago. AJ over Cutler Cleveland. AJ over Griffin III Dallas. AJ over Romo/Dak Denver. AJ over Sanchez/Lynch/Sieman LA (Rams). AJ over Goff. And Mark "I'll stop blowing Saban" Inabit says that if AJ was a Ram, they wouldn't have had to "waste" the #1 pick in the draft. Jets. AJ over Fitzpatrick (because then the Jets wouldn't have had a contract dispute with Fitz this clown says) Eagles. AJ over Bradford. San Fran. AJ over Gabbert/Fuckhole Muslim bitch who needs to GTFO of the country and stay out
8 teams 1/4%. Better off with McDouchean.
Of that list I can only see one that I'd necessarily agree with

You're not going to get an argument from me on why they feel the need to slip in as much negative crap as possible on Auburn. However, I have to admit Saturday at JHS, I was asking the same question. Never seen the student section so empty for a game like that.

Fuck's sake.
Students are reliably, historically late (except the pledges).
This game was out of hand in the first goddamned quarter. So the kids didn't bother showing up.

Going to have to disagree here. Auburn's student section is known for getting there early.
I know it's just a pop piece, but here's what ESPN said a few years ago:
Quote
5. Auburn: LSU might have the nation's best night atmosphere, but Auburn's student section is something special when it's time to play under the lights. From all those "War Eagle" chants to even more pom-poms than the kids know what to do with, Auburn's students know how to create an amazing atmosphere inside Jordan-Hare. All that blue-(navy)-and-orange movement from the students, who don't know how to stay quiet during games, will leave you dizzy if you're sporting the wrong colors. It's a section that arrives early and will drown you in its cheers for four quarters. One cool tradition this student section has after scores is chucking the football out of the stadium. Pretty cool.
The SGA changes might explain why the student section was thin.
However, it doesn't explain why the upper deck was practically empty in the corners. I was in section 15, row 53 under the jumbotron and there were easily 25 empty seats in eye sight.
Only thing I can think is that a lot of fans gave up on this season and made other plans for that Saturday prior to the Miss State game? Now that we're good again, they'll come back.

I agree it was kind of pathetic.
I got two tickets on the 10 ish yard line 30 rows up about 70 mins before the game for 20 bucks a piece. Top 20 sec night game. Sorry but it's pathetic. Then I walk in 20 mins before it starts and every corner of the upper deck is empty and the student section noticeably has big holes in it that never really filled up. Should Al.com blast it from the rooftops? I don't think so. But it does aggrevate me that as a fanbase we look like "Easter and Christmas church goers".

And we've never had that issue or reputation. Smaller games? Sure. Stadium is empty. Bad season? Sure. Stadium gets thin.
Big games? Jordan Hare is considered one of the most intimidating places to play especially at night.
So what is it?
Did the fanbase really give up that quickly? I actually have to think no. Student section may have some issues with the new SGA rules, but that doesn't explain anything about the rest of the stadium.
I think we all know who is behind this. Satan. Barack Obama. And Jay Fucking Jacobs.
Maybe people are tired of being blinded by a megatron television? Maybe they realized the hip hop music and stupid trivia segments were causing more stress than fun? Maybe they miss the band playing? Maybe they all showed up to the stadium forgetting that little purses were taken over by terrorists and they didn't want to store their shit in some offsite location while buying an expensive ziploc bag?
Unfortunately there's not really a big home game left on the schedule so we won't be able to see if this truly is an issue or a one time anomaly.

For all of the aforementioned, it's simply not as much fun. Let me add a new one. Walked all the way down from top deck in 4th, I had to pee. But, no big deal, I can do that at the bottom, right?
Nope. Just like with the barricades they started years ago to stop people from walking around the stadium, can't do it. You are only allowed to walk outside.
Idiotic if you ask me. Vendors are losing money. AU is losing money.
And I honestly don't remember hearing the band.

It had just started raining right before that reverse was called.
Mildly funny story. My wife and I were at the game and her brother was back here watching the game over at their Grandpa's house. Grandpa, rest his soul, was the biggest rasslin' fan you've ever seen. Never missed a match down at the Farm Center on Saturday nights and was not going to miss a minute of Georgia Championship Wrestling on TBS. If you recall, that last drive was kept alive by a 4th down conversion where Burger completed a pass over the middle. Just as the play started and Burger dropped back, "Papa" clicked over to TBS and said "Well, it's time for wrestling."
Snagette's brother was only about 12 at the time and he instinctively hollered, "SON OF A BITCH!!!"

I can't honestly say what I would have done had the alert gone off while that play was unfolding.

And let's make one thing clear. Good things may have happened on that field at times, but no auburn fan should recall there being good memories about legion generally speaking.
I think its more of a memory of watching football with my father and two games on one day made it that much better.

Had to googles the conversion the play preceeding...Trey Gainous for nine yards.

True it was a shithole but we offered half assed resistance in building that streak. I recall a snap to William Andrews for a two point conversion that gave me one glimmer of hope over eleven years. Not the fault of the venue no matter how fucking old some of us are.

We had ourselves to blame for most of that by putting a shitty product on the field for quite a long time and most of our fans selling their tickets to the other side. Supposed to be a 50/50 split for a lot of years and it was always at least 70% unwashed.

Aside from Sullivan to Beasley, bo over the top and the Tillman reverse - the legion field era will always be a dark cloud of the past that should be mostly forgotten. For literally what it was and symbolically what it stood for within the confines of our rivalry.

Agreed.
Conceptually, though, it was a beautiful thing. Greatest rivalry in college sports. Neutral field. Stadium split 50/50.
Too bad it was only ever one of those.

This morning I wake up and check al.com.
I see last night's game referred to as "a nailbiter." It was not. I see it referred to as "a heartbreaker for Ole Miss." How so? I see headlines referring to Ole Miss "torching" the defense. Yards, he got some. Points? Not so much. He threw the ball 637 times. His longest pass was under 30 yards.
The thinly veiled inference is that AU barely won over a team it probably didn't deserve to beat.

I'm a homer but you have to admit we likely give up another TD to Kelly if their genius doesn't inexplicably substitute that poor man's wildcat for him. And then it's anybody's guess what type of offensive sequence we follow with or how we defend should we turn it over on downs, fumble or throw a pick. Wouldn't so much call it a nailbiter as much as it was touch and go if our prevent defense fails.

Kamryn Pettway now has 148 carries for 933 yards, averaging 6.3 ypa and has scored 7 TDs.
Kamryn Pettway was slated to start this season as the BACKUP to Chandler Cox at FB.
Thinking about how wild that is.

Gave up 29 to the team that scored 43 on the #bestdefenseevahsince1992200920112012 and won by double digits. Didn't have to score 3 defensive touchdowns to do it either. fudge them and the crimson horse they rode in on.

I am normally fine with Scarbo, but that article was a bunch of bs. He acts as if we went into UGA and just got our asses beat.
No Scarbo we went into UGA with a team that is beat to fuck with injuries and got beat. Excuses or not there is a huge difference. I have no doubt we will probably lose to bama, it will probably be close for 3 quarters and then they will take over in the 4th. However, IMO the UGA loss did not show that bammer was going to beat us, it showed that we are an severely injured team.

If any Uga fan or any other fan for that matter wants to call it lame or an excuse then let's reverse the roles. Let knock easons arm down to 40-50% rendering it useless. And let's take away Chubb completely. Let's also knock Michel down to about 50-60%. Now how would they have fared with that setup?

Flip the teams here. Auburn fires a coordinator a few days before it's biggest game of the season. Think AL.com publishes an article like this about it?
Giving them goat aids is taking too long. Just give them the needle.
Quote
Lane Kiffin's awkward departure sure seems like unnecessary drama a week away from Alabama's national championship game against Clemson. It may look, smell and taste like Nick Saban's worst nightmare: A distraction at the worst possible time. Pfffft.
It's all part of The Process. Yep. Sometimes even chaos wears khakis.
This move is Saban's coolest, riskiest call since the onside kick against Clemson in last year's championship game. That one worked out pretty well. It made Saban smile.
Clemson has an even better team this year than last year's 45-40 group. And it's psyched for revenge. Kicking a distracted Kiffin out the door was this year's onside kick in the pants to his team - a week in advance. Get focused, y'all.
Lane Kiffin's departure didn't throw a monkey wrench into The Process. His weird departure was part of The Process.

Today is especially horrendous.
After a weekend that saw a former player and current coach arrested for DUI, al.com trots out these gems:
> Auburn's underachieved according to recruiting rankings!
> Why can't Auburn develop a quarterback?
and...
> The 100 best Saban recruits!1!
> Why new RB Nimajee Harpens (whatever) is such a rare, special prospect!!1!1
> How did Tosh Luopi become Bama's best recruiter?!
> 22 Restaurants with Bama football connections!!!1!!
There's that and about 19 different pieces bashing Trump.
I wish that thing would go out of business. Make news great again.

Just making an observation here because maybe Freeman was actually arrested, maybe not. The headline says he was and conveniently shows a picture of handcuffs. But in the article, it just says she got a protection order against him and accused him of domestic violence and harassment. Doesn't say he was arrested, just that he went to the police himself when he was contacted, then talked to reporters. Big difference between a restraining order and getting arrested.

We all thought Charles Hollis had such promise early on. Marshall Taylor claims he was left in his dorm room by then-Auburn teammate Jovon Robinson after sustaining injuries while at a party last summer.
Speaking publicly for the first time since joining the program, Taylor said the incident, which in part led to Robinson's dismissal, "got ugly real fast" and he sustained "various" injuries.
"We got (to the Columbus, Ga.-area party) and things got ugly real fast," Taylor said following Auburn's pro day on Friday. "I took the worst end of it."
Taylor said there was an issue between Robinson and another man at the party, who accosted him. Robinson, who was not at Auburn's pro day but has been on campus in recent weeks, has denied wrongdoing and told AL.com Taylor fell on his own and there was no physical altercation of any kind.
"I was the first one seen so, I caught the beating," Taylor said. "(Then-defensive backs coach Wesley) McGriff found me in my (dorm) room because my mother was worried and blowing his phone up, he went and got into my room and found me and when they took me in the training room and woke me up."
Regardless of the differing accounts of the incident, it caused Taylor, a graduate transfer from Miami University, to miss the first 19 practices of fall camp.
Taylor, who has eight tackles with three pass breakups last season, said he did not hold any ill will towards Robinson.
"Just as a teammate you just assume that the guy next to you, wearing the same jersey, would have your back but you can't assume," Taylor said. "That's a life lesson learned. I got no hard feelings. I've seen (Robinson) this morning, we didn't speak or anything but I don't have hard feelings.
"He made a decision and he's got to live it. I made the decision to go with him and I got to live with it, which affected my playing time because I missed all of camp but that's life."
Though Robinson discussed attending pro day with an Auburn administrator last month, he did not attend for unspecified reasons. Coach Gus Malzahn declined to specify why the former running back was not there when players dismissed in the past, specifically Demetruce McNeal and D'haquille Williams, were permitted to take part in pro day.
"I'm just going to talk about the guys that performed today here," Malzahn said.
Taylor said he had no input in the matter and was unaware whether Robinson was going to attend or not.
"I was going to do my thing regardless," said Taylor, who had a 34-inch vertical jump, 10-foot-3 broad jump and ran the 40 in an unofficial 4.53 seconds. "I've been training for this day for the last two months. I'm not going to let one person stop two months of grinding that I've been doing."

I'm going to take the other side of this one. Now granted, I don't know who this guy (author) is and he may be a flaming Bammer. But I'm not going to fault someone for saying what I've said since the day they offered this kid. A big WTF? I said it from day one. He couldn't start at FSU. He couldn't even start at JUCO. He's 4' 1" and 143 pounds soaking wet. And we offered him a QB scholly?
I totally agree with this piece. He's a fast as hell, gifted kid. And he can help us if he's in the right position on the field. Receiver? Punt returns? Whatever. But SEC quarterback?
Come on, man!

Snags, my issue with it isn't that JF3 got moved because he wasn't a good qb, isn't with how this jackass bitch says it.

It finally happened. John Franklin III figured out what everyone already knew for years. He can't play quarterback.

Yep. I totally get where you're coming from. I agree with the premise of the article. But you nailed the ridiculous, unnecessary shot taken at the kid and AU. Point taken.
But, how do you know he's not good at throwing rolls?

That was the issue I took with it, hence why it was the only line of the article I quoted. Bitch move.

We've always had Bo Jackson, the greatest player in the history of Tecmo Bowl.
A few weeks ago, some dude on the West Coast did a Tecmo version of Chris Davis' return against Bama in 2013.
Al.com? Upset that there's nothing Tecmo from the Tide commissions a poll, picks five plays in Bammer history and demands the guy create Tecmo versions of those plays. He doesn't know what asshats they are, so he does it.

Auburn fires its coaches, but they're all coming back
Updated on June 19, 2017 at 11:25 AM Posted on June 19, 2017 at 6:37 AM Former Auburn coaches Pat Dye, Tommy Tuberville and Gene Chizik all now live in Auburn. The Auburn Coaches Retirement Club is always looking for new members. Former Auburn coaches Pat Dye, Tommy Tuberville and Gene Chizik all now live in Auburn. The Auburn Coaches Retirement Club is always looking for new members.( Illustration by Susana Sanchez-Young for AL.com) 212 shares BY JOSEPH GOODMAN jgoodman@al.com Auburn has a history of paying football coaches to go away, but they're all coming back in retirement.
Retiree Tommy Tuberville lives so close to the coach who replaced him at Auburn that he can pepper Gene Chizik's yard with golf balls.
Chizik is enjoying the retired life in Auburn few people can imagine. He called it quits at such a young age that his youngest son is still in high school.
ADVERTISING
Then there's Pat Dye, who might be the most relevant retired college football coach in the country. After Dye retired in Auburn, the university not only put his name on the football field, but they gave him an office in the athletics building. He remains attuned to the pulse of the program, glad-hands recruits and boosters and promotes Auburn's agenda on radio shows.
Not bad for a coach who was forced to step down in the wake of NCAA violations.
"The trustees called me and said, look, we want to name something after you," Dye said. "Would you rather have a building, or would you rather have the field? I said, 'That's a no-brainer. I come out the dirt. I like the dirt.'"
Shug Jordan is buried in Auburn, and Dye retired there long ago. Relative newcomers to the Auburn Coaches Retirement Club are Tuberville and Chizik, who both had huge success for the Tigers, and then took enormous buyouts to go away. But now they're back and have put themselves out to pasture in the Loveliest Village on the Plains.
"It's such a good place to live, and you grow close to it because most of us raised our families in those areas," Tuberville said.
Tommy Tuberville discusses what he's been up to since leaving Cincinnati last season Or in the case of Chizik, still raising his family. One of Chizik's daughters attends Auburn, and his son could be at the university in a few years. Retired at 55, Chizik can't start drawing social security for 12 more years.
Chizik retired from football in February after living away from his family for two years in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He was a successful defensive coordinator for the Tar Heels, but the time away from his family was too difficult. Now, he's a principal member of the Auburn Coaches Retirement Club, and life is like a cool glass of Toomer's Corner lemonade.
Of the school's four living retired former head football coaches, three are walking into that "Sweet Auburn!" sunset of life either in Auburn or on nearby Lake Martin. And the fourth, Doug Barfield, isn't far away. He lives in east Montgomery, which is only a 40-minute car ride from campus.
Barfield's grandchildren live in Auburn, so he's no stranger to the place.
In one of the quirkiest wrinkles of the college football universe, every living person who has been a permanent head football coach at Auburn except Terry Bowden could meet for lunch at Momma Goldberg's on Magnolia Avenue in less than an hour. Current Auburn coach Gus Malzahn is entering his fifth season with the Tigers, but the Auburn Coaches Retirement Club is always looking for new members.
Recent history has proven that it's difficult to survive at Auburn as a football coach, and that's especially true now in the time of Nick Saban, but Auburn fans apparently love their former coaches once they retire. The coaches many of the fans wanted fired over the years are now celebrated around town. And why not, most of the coaches Auburn has fired or forced out through the years have been successful.
Chizik went 14-0 in 2010 and won a BCS national championship.
Tuberville beat Alabama six times in a row, went 13-0 in 2004 and was a BCS blunder away from playing for a national championship.
Dye, who is in the College Football Hall of Fame, won four SEC titles, including three in a row. He coached Bo Jackson, and defeated Paul Bryant.
Since 1993, when Bowden went 11-0 while on probation, no football team in the country has more undefeated seasons than Auburn (three), and only one team, Nebraska, has just as many. But Auburn fans and boosters are a demanding bunch. If a bad season on the Plains coincides with success over at Alabama, that usually means a lucky Auburn coach suddenly has the financial ability to retire while his golf game is still amendable.
Every Auburn coach since Shug Jordan retired in 1975 has been fired or forced out. When those same coaches retire and return, they are beloved.

Two pieces today about how Stidham sucks. One about Jeremy Johnson trying to play pro basketball.
The Bama articles?
How coaching at Alabama is better than the NFL for their new OC Brian Blowupdoll. Why Jalen Hurts is so much better than those shitty five star QBs who left How Alabama can surpass the 15 non-offensive touchdowns it scored last season because, GOAT UCLA QB took shot at Alabama, but he really didn't mean it AJ McFuckletat opens new sushi restaurant "Ajian" What a dumbass.

Personally, I don't see why the name would be racist, but that article is funny as shit.
That's the difference in today's society it isn't racist. However, I could see it being "offensive" The two are not mutually exclusive. Folks don't seem to understand that. (not directed at you WE!!!)
The undertones could have racism depending on the person coming up with it I suppose.

I'm just saying that it could offend someone of Asian descent that their heritage is being mocked/sarcastically used to sell shitty sushi rolls. People are offended over less, I imagine.

FWIW, Mark Heim alternating between gleefully giggling it up and dramatically intoning. "Incredibly damning. Just another in a long history of incidents at Auburn."
Meanwhile the player who was shot at Alabama "pretty clearly an innocent bystander..."
Problems with both.
A walk on who was cut makes claims. Everybody guilty. Burn it down. A major fixture at Bama shot. It wasn't him.
The news cycle is vicious. I'm going to guess the truth lies somewhere in the middle for both. Corey was a douche. But nobody complained until some chick got scorned.
The bama kid was in the middle of it. But not actively shooting at people.
