Quote
AUBURN, Alabama -- Auburn offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn says new starting quarterback Clint Moseley has a little edge to him.

"He has a knack to do things when things break down. He's got a little bit of the gunslinger in him," Malzahn said Tuesday, the day the Tigers named Moseley its starting quarterback for Saturday's game at LSU.

It'll be Moseley first start as he replaces Barrett Trotter, who started the first seven games of the season. It'll be Moseley's first start since winning three state championship 2A Leroy.

"He knows how to win. You always look for somebody who knows how to win," Malzahn said.

Malzahn said he won't simplify the offense for the otherwise little-used Moseley. This is the third year the redshirt sophomore has been in Malzahn's system.

Malzahn said Moseley received more snaps at practice Tuesday than the amount a normal quarterback would receive. The receivers stuck around after practice to catch extra passes from Moseley.

"He's got a heavy amount of the reps today, which he needed," Malzahn said.

Moseley won the job with his performance in the second half of Saturday's 17-6 win over Florida. Trotter didn't play in the second half.

As for Moseley, Malzahn said, "I think he's grown up a lot. If you ask him, I think he'd say that.
I'm real proud of where he came from. He's gotten more mature, even in this season."

Malzahn said Wildcat quarterback Kiehl Frazier "will continue to have a role."

It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

With all of that said, why the fuck did they start Trotter in the first place?

No idea other than I had heard that they were neck and neck and Trotter had more time on campus.  Gonna be a hell of a trial by fire for him though.

I saw a clip of Mosley stating he believes his horrid scrimmage performance was the main reason.

I think (and this is merely a theory), they were neck and neck in practices and scrimmages, and Trotter got the edge due to Seniority.

However players, especially QBs do not always perform the same at practices & scrimmages as the do in real game situations. I believe (and hope) that Trotter is just one of those guys that can't handle actual gametime pressure, and performs much worse in actual games. Mosely, however, (again, I hope) handles this pressure much better. At least it appears that way from his few snaps he's taken.
