Lottery for Alabama?
« on: August 20, 2016, 01:36:27 PM »
State Senate passed Bentley's bill, with slight amendment to the recipients of the lottery revenues.

Good for the state?  Bad?  Fuck off, it's football season?

Like it even w/o knowing those slight details. The education system here is a mammoth entity, see Mike Hubbard but the timing couldn't have been better.

Every Monday or Tuesday at lunch, I drive just a few miles south to the Florida State line and play my same lucky numbers.  (Those numbers have worked out just swell so far)  All this will do is save me a little gas.  Like anything else, just put the issue to a vote and let the peeps decide.

My doctor told me I needed to stop masturbating.  I asked him why, and he said, "because I'm trying to examine you."

Actually attended a luncheon Thursday with Bentley down in Phenix City. He mentioned that the vote was later that day and that he had a version of the bill that he hoped to pass. And I'm glad it did but like buzz said, I'd like to see at least some of it go to education. From what he said Thursday it's mainly going to cover Medicaid since the state is in the red with it at the moment.

Bentley is an IDIOT. He passed up the money from the feds that would have shored up Medicaid ahead of the obamacare disaster. He plans on getting his bony little hands on some of that money since he lost all of his in the divorce. Fuck him and his mistress. Oh wait, just his mistress. I'll still play the Florida State lotto just despite him.

The Senate approved 10% to education, 20% to Medicaid and the rest to the General Fund, I believe.

Should be more for education IMO. I mean, 10%, really, that is all? Damn. Maybe I'm just ignorant to this but what percentage does Florida and Georgia set aside for education?

I know. We could be known as the state with the only non-educational lottery. One would think that a much larger portion would be for education because it looks as if they are treating it like a miscellaneous expense.

The general fund is in the red at the moment. Why don't you research how budgets work before throwing out stupid conspiracy statements.

Medicaid is also in the red. What would you do? Go "more" broke? Credit rating downgraded perhaps?

Georgia's IS an education lottery. As in, it's purpose.

You mis-understood....What they meant was it is like the lottery to get an education in Georgia.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

10% for education.

Yikes.

70% to the general fund seems risky too. This seems destined to fail.

Just perusing the net I found that the initial percentage breakdown of our proposed lottery is consistent with many other states.
Don't know the source below but it's worth the read.
