OC/DC Being Hired After Bowl Game "A Very Good Possibility"

OC/DC Being Hired After Bowl Game "A Very Good Possibility"

AUBURN, Alabama -- Might want to slow down the rumor mill for a few days. Auburn coach Gene Chizik indicated Wednesday he won't name his offensive and defensive coordinators until after the Chick-fil-A Bowl on Dec. 31.

"Without trying to box myself in a corner with a timeline, that's certainly a very good possibility," Chizik said Wednesday.

Chizik said the delay in finding replacements for Gus Malzahn and Ted Roof won't hurt the program.

"We are in a great place, and we have no reason to believe the plan that we laid down three years ago, which is us going on a really, really direct path. We have no reason to believe anything has changed," he said.

Chizik was asked if he foresees a change in quarterbacks between starter Clint Moseley and backup Kiehl Frazier.

"I'm not going to anticipate any changes, but we've got four or five days left of practice, so we'll see," he said.

And the mystery No. 3 tailback? Still a mystery. Chizik didn't give away that secret.

Auburn wrapped up its pre-Christmas practice schedule Wednesday morning, and the players were promptly home for Christmas. The Tigers will report as a team Christmas night in Atlanta, and begin work on Virginia the next day in the Georgia Dome.

I have seen Craig Sanders as the popular guess based on what Coach Luper said about the surprise RB.

Sanders played tailback in HS.  He absolutely punished people.  Now granted, it was 1A and 2A competition, but still....

I've got pictures of him in the sho...I mean running the ball.

My doctor told me I needed to stop masturbating.  I asked him why, and he said, "because I'm trying to examine you."

His uncle works here. I think I will stop by his office and inquire.

Dirk Koetter is the name above the rest from what the skreetz be saying. He has been the Jacksonville Jaguars OC for the last 5 years. Before that he was the Boise and Arizona State HC. Also skreetz be saying the OC and DC has already been hired.

Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall said, "Guys don't mind hitting Michael Vick in the open field, but when you see Cam, you have to think about how you're going to tackle him. He's like a big tight end coming at you."

Really, he was the one that put Boise on the map as a HC. Before Boise, he was Oregon's OC. Previous two jobs before that were OCing at  Boston College and Missouri. Looks like a pretty solid candidate if true.

Also, Grimes played under Koetter at UTEP, and years later, he was on his staff at ASU. The connection makes sense.

Could be lots of reasons for it, don't know, but the Jags offense sux this year just from glancing at their record.  29th in Scoring, 32 in Total offense.

Many of the same reasons why Auburn suck on offense this year. QB and OL play.

First of all, we all know College Success ≠ NFL Success, but just having that NFL experience is invaluable (See Saban, Petrino, Spurrier).

His 1997 Oregon team broke school records for offensive production. Put Boise on the map, as mentioned. His 2005 Offense at Arizona State was 2nd in the nation.

When he had a decent QB in his first year in Jacksonville, he improved their offense from 10th in the league to 7th.  This year he's working with a rookie QB and no WRs.

They were also 22 in the league in 2001, right before we hired their OC, Bobby Petrino.

I qualified it.  I know they got a rookie QB.  Overall, I do like his resume.  Lots of varied influences.  Lots of experience.  Like Greg Davis, I don't like his age, but that's not a huge deal I guess.
