Several hundred people gathered on the LSU campus Wednesday and effectively stopped an LSU grad student from burning an American flag on campus.

The student announced Tuesday that he intended to burn the flag. The announcement set off a wave of angry protests on Facebook and talk radio stations.

As the student approached the Parade Grounds at LSU Wednesday, students chanted, "USA! USA!" One man yelled, "My brothers died for you!"

Several people tossed water balloons and water bottles at the man. The graduate student was then escorted away by LSU Police. The flag burning did not occur.

This guy has the right to burn the flag.
He also has the right to endure consequences for doing so. People forget that even though you may have the right to do something, those something still have repercussions.

I served under this flag-I have shed my blood for this flag. I don't mean to offend anyone but he should have the right to burn the flag. You can't have freedom without freedom's.

Is it offensive-yes-but Is he not just expressing his rights? My right to kick his ass is all so covered.

Agree with the above, but of course the other side has the right to their opinion and to express it. And like you guys, they were about to open some hippie stompin' whoop ass which is why the cops escorted this guy away.

You would think a communications major could find a better way of getting his message out.

Agree, they should have let him burn it if he was safe. If they are throwing shit at him, so be it...he asked for it.
