Title: If Bama played Auburn today
Post by: Token on October 17, 2010, 12:30:33 AM
We lose by 14+.  Sure, my B team quarterback (who's attempted 3 passes this season) could throw for 250 against your secondary, but that won't matter, because McElwain has been swapping offensive philosophies with Tommy Tuberville.

If we are in shotgun, don't worry about the run.  You also don't have to worry about our receivers stretching the field.  No, we are going to hit a 5 yard route or dump it off to Richardson.  When in the pistol formation, you only have to guard between the tackles, because that's where we are going to run it.  Wildcat,  you ask?  Just defend the 1 and 2 holes, because that's where it's going.  And don't worry about any other formations, that's all we got.

Fuck me.

There are lots of bammers and even some Auburn folks that, until recently, would translate that to mean: "Bammer plays power football, and Auburn has to resort to gimmicks".  Course, that all changes when the landscape changes...now it's "McElwain sucks calling plays".

When all that stuff you're saying bammer does was working the last 2 years, it was "power football".  Now, it's "McElwain Sucks, and the game plan sucks".

Hey RWS, are you still impressed with your team?  LMFAO!!!!

BTW, SPuat's impressive win so far this season....Arkansas, and that ain't too impressive.

SPuat over Penn State - PSU isn't ranked anymore.

SPuat over UF - UF isn't going to be ranked come Sunday evening.

SPuat over Arkansas - As I said previously here and a few weeks ago, that this is SPuat's only impressive win (and SPuat looked like shit getting the win.)

SPuat over USCe - Wait...nevermind, lol

SPuat over the Rebel Black Bears - Looked like shit getting that W...never figured that Nutt's gameplan was to have Masoli throw bombs on nearly every pass play, it wouldn't have mattered, the receivers would've dropped the passes anyway.

Power football is lining up inside the 15 and running the ball.  Power football is lining up and running the football with 2nd and 5 or less.  That's what we did for the last two years.  This year?  We're throwing.  And it's not just that we're throwing, (we are pretty balanced) we're not disguising the plays.  We have hardly ran ANY shotgun for the last two years.  This year?  We've spent a lot of time in shotgun.  And we rarely run out of it.

I'm not going to go back through the play-by-play and show you how many more times we've thrown in short yardage situations than we have in the last two years, and I DAMN sure ain't going to get into an offensive play breakdown with you, but the play calling this year (especially in the redzone) has changed dramatically.

Although I have already admitted that Auburn would beat Alabama if we played today, there is still a lot of football left, and we still have to play.  All it takes is Cam going down and Auburn is fucked.

I haven't paid close enough attention to see what you're seeing, or not.  Couldn't debate it with you at all.

IF things have changed like you said, then that may be a reason things aren't working so smoothly.   I did hear many in the off season opining that they thought they needed to open it up a bit in the passing game.  Not that Nicky would capitulate to fans wants and desires.  I also know that McElwain went out to Nevada to study the Pistol offense this off season...maybe they did make some serious changes, but watching casually, I haven't seen it.

I'm seriously not going to spend the time to track the last two seasons, but I did in SEC action this season.

Inside the redzone:

Passing attempts: 29
Incomplete attempts: 12
Sacks: 6
Interceptions: 2

Rushes: 16

That's damn close to being a 2:1 pass/run ratio inside the redzone.  That doesn't look like power football to me, nor does it look like anything we've done in the last few seasons.  Only twice have we ran 3 straight rushing plays, and both times resulted in touchdowns.  So it's not as though we can't run in the redzone, we have just chosen not too.

Something doesn't look right with bama right now. It's one of those things that is hard to put your finger on. Like there is no team chemistry, or some locker room troubles.

Yeah, I mean it's not like Dyer, Fannin, Blake, McCallebb, Ethridge or Byrum put any points on the board Saturday.

Bammer's new spin- Cam Newton is the only player Auburn has got.  Old spin- Cam Newton is all hype.

Let us not forget the standard bammer mantra any time Auburn comes up with even a decent player, much less a star: "He's gone to the NFL first chance he gets" stated as if A: no other star does that, and B: that it's because folks would rather be anywhere but Auburn and not because a fucking buttload of money is offered.

The red zone numbers were low and I listened  to Nick talk about the two minute in depth and it seems that since the Penn State game,  McElroy (once a game manager) is now in a permanent two minute Elway mode and the rest of the offense is at its mercy. I questioned that after the SC game and RWS said that discussion was unpopular on Bama boards. How dare any fan question this offense? We were outplayed.

Bullpoop, the best athletes can run the T or I and beat you by executing blocks, with sound tackling and making fewer mistakes  than the other team. This team has gone away from the play action it ran so effectively against EVERYBODY. That was what kept other teams off balance, not pistol, not McElway or teams "catching up" to this offense. South Carolina did play inspired football, but only after Bama went all two minute after the first three possessions which included 5 carries for 24 yards.

We get it. Whatever happens, Alabama is the worst team in football, and Auburn is the best. We are horrible for having to come back against Mallett, but AU is the best ever for having to slug it out against his backup.

Just a few days ago you were talking about how OM was more physical than UF, we ain't seen nothing yet, and how OM was going to "pilage" Tuscaloosa. But that isn't the case today, because we won. We are actually horrible because we won.

Would AU beat us today? Hell yes. Did we look like shit last night? Yes.

Oh, there is certainly something wrong. I'm all about using what works, and don't freak out because you lost one. But if its not working, its not working. Something has happened in the past few games. We should not be having problems on offense.

Hell with Mallet's back up..our offense just torched a very good SEC defense...they were top 20 in both total and scoring defense.  This just in, our offense is good.  Best team in football?  Today, we could probably beat anyone even with our shitty defense.  Come Dec. or Jan?  Who knows.  Here's something to ponder though...this Sat will go a long way to sorting out the West.  You have to think that as things stand now, that LSU is going to give bammer trouble with their defense.  Clearly the East...well who gives a shit?  The SEC west wins the SECC, whether it's Bammer, Auburn, or LSU. Right now, LSU and Auburn are in the drivers seat.

Yeah, I think any sensible football fan would agree. I just get a weird feeling that there some guys in the locker room pissed at McClroy. I don't know, but I think Richardson getting his yards helps this offense get back on track. The leaders of this offense is in the backfield and I'm not talking about the QB. He is serviceable but not really a game changer type. Something tells me that everyone on the bama team knows that and McClroy may have elevated himself to a point that has pissed some folks off. I also saw him calling some guys out in front of the camera last night. I mean that happens don't get me wrong but I'm not sure his teammates are liking that too much. What comes to mind is a pic that floated around here last year with Bynes giving Todd the evil eye on the sidelines.

Eh no! McElroy was doing the old Ray Lewis on the team before coming out on the field. And whether anyone on the team resents it or not is anyone's guess. Perhaps Nick gave him the keys but he was mainly the chauffeur of the vehicle up to at least the Penn State game.

When did Alabama dump the play action for McElway?  When did drive blocking Alabama become the "Greatest Show on Turf" ? This isn't the same Alabama because it appears beatable as opposed to "dominating" as it was overly described as before South Carolina.

Jay Barker even said that a once beaten Tide has a better shot than an undefeated Auburn. The arrogance doesn't surprise me because I know that they are a well coached and talented team but the majority of the talking heads who are mostly Bamers have it all wrong as usual, toeing the company line so to speak because they are so weak they are afraid to turn off listeners, ardent Bamer fans who do not want to hear anything negative. And say the wrong thing and you don't get the interview you could once get from staff members. That's FEAR!

Well, at this point, saying utterly moronic shit like that sounds fabulous to the fucking trailer park hoard...but keep in mind that a once beaten Tide AND an undefeated Auburn team ending the regular season CANNOT happen.  That stupid fucking shit is just par for the course with their standard babble about nash-ee-nul respeck for bammer, or lack thereof for Auburn...just blab incoherently shit that pleases the ears of the great "unwershed".   Today bammer is respected as being a one loss team that is one week off losing to a typical Jeckyl and Hyde USCe team that just lost to KY, and has two SEC teams ranked above them in the polls that are undefeated.  When you consider bammer's body of work to date, with Florida and PSU included...they're really not causing much fear at this point.   Still a good team?  Yes, very good....not the 2009 edition by a long shot.

I am wondering where the play action has gone as well. As much as we run the ball, you have got to use play action to your advantage, and you have got to stretch the field with some long passes. We are doing neither, and everybody is simply loading the box and putting the secondary into a shallow zone. I know last week I said I didn't think there was a playcalling issue, but I'm really starting to second guess that stance.

Which is why I brought it up after the SC game. You have the power game, mix it with play action, going vertical occaisionally to keep 'em honest and you run wheel routes and screens which is a pretty good package with that talent, TE's and all. Why change success?

Much of the bammer nation really, truly, in their black hearts that sit right next to their lungs blackened by Pall Malls, believe that the rest of the college football world is better when bammer is on top, and that when they're not on top, that the  college football world anxiously awaits their return.  News flash, only bammers have the appetite for bammerness that bammers do.  The national football media has an appetite for the flavor of the day, which can be ANY one of the "Old Guard" like Mich, Texas, USC, tOSU, Bammer, or Tenn...or one of the BCS busters like Hawaii, Utah, TCU, or Boise.  Does the media prefer one of the "Old Guard"?  Maybe, but they love the Floridas, Auburns, LSUs, to name a few...and are perfectly happy to set up game day there, and vote for them if they're the best.  In the big scheme, bammer only makes bammer more money when they're up...ESPN and the media outside of the biased bammer controlled media could give a shit less if it's Bammer or some other flavor of the day.

Just when I'm ready to crown *** ******* as the dumbest motherfucker on this site, you always chime in and save him.  You're his Mississipi.

Of course Cam Newton isn't the ONLY player on this team, but he is the fucking machine that makes shit happen.  He can't be stopped, and there's no way in hell Auburn would be anywhere near as good without him.  They'd still be a solid football team, but not a Championship caliber team.

And there's nothing wrong with that.  Had Ingram went down last season no way in hell would Bama have won the BCS.  He beat USCe by himself last season.  All great teams have that one guy.  For Auburn, it's Cam.  If you really believe that Auburn would be 7-0 and ranked in the top 5 without him?  Well, Hotty Toddy. Dumbass.

I can't figure you out.  You make these types of comments (as if I actually said Cam was going to the NFL this season) but when you are called on it, you quickly back away.  Did I give the impression that I believe Cam is leaving for the NFL?  Did I state that Cam is tweeting that he can't wait to get the fuck out of Auburn?  I'll admit, I barely remember creating this thread last night, but unless someone edited one of my post, what the fuck are you talking about and how is it relevant to my comment about Cam?

I can't figure you out.  You make these types of comments (as if I actually said Cam was going to the NFL this season) but when you are called on it, you quickly back away.  Did I give the impression that I believe Cam is leaving for the NFL?  Did I state that Cam is tweeting that he can't wait to get the fuck out of Auburn?  I'll admit, I barely remember creating this thread last night, but unless someone edited one of my post, what the fuck are you talking about and how is it relevant to my comment about Cam?

Token, relax bud...you're a good bammer.  Fact is, we hear that shit all the time...I didn't say YOU said it.  Lighten up Francis.  You need to be able to sort through the "general bammer hater" posts, and those directed at you specifically.

In fact, on point to one of your post, maybe the first in this thread.  Is it just something many feel has to be said, or is it a slam on Auburn to say: "If Cam goes down, Auburn is fucked".  Well no fucking shit.  I don't think Malzahn, or Chiz knew what they really had in Cam, as evidenced by the fact they tried to remain balanced the first few games.  It's a team game, but great players elevate teams.  Bammer didn't coincidentally have a Heisman winner and a NC in the same year last year.  Look at the top teams this year.  Oregan has a Heisman contender...tOSU does too.  Michigan is another .500 team without Denson.  It''s why bammers are always crowing about 5 star croots..they, y'all, we all hope one of them will turn out to be Cam.  And when you're a coach, you fucking ride that horse hard and fast.

Man, you are really taking this football season rough.  Just a game bro.  Funny to see you so worked up though.  Neither I, nor yourself, really know how Auburn would look with more of a pocket passing QB this year.  Blake, Adams, and T Zac are all solid receivers and would get more balls thrown to them in that scenario, not to mention having a solid TE.  The run game would be good enough with Dyer inside and Onterio outside because the O-line is solid.  But man, I'm a dumb MF.  Haha!!
I would say the Alabama offense would not be nearly as good if _________ got hurt, but I don't really see any dynamic players on the roster.  The Ole Miss game was so boring, I fell asleep.  Oh well, someone will pan out for you guys.  Roll Turd!!!!

Yeah well, the poster that you want to crown as "the dumbest mother fucker on this site" has been calling your team garbage since the Penn State game.  He also called the South Carolina over SPuat, Auburn over Arkansas, Texas over Nebraska, Wisconsin over Ohio State, Kentucky over South Carolina games...he also called the MSU over Florida game but not on this board.  He also stated, on this past Wednesday or Thursday, that Auburn would be ranked #4 come Sunday evening.

But yeah, I totally agree, what a dumbass.

Going by this criteria, there are plenty of folks in the Crown picks that are way smarter than you. You act like since you guessed a few games correctly, everybody should bow down to your football supremacy. Last I checked, you get plenty of shit wrong too. It's all a matter of guessing. When you get it right, you do your victory dance. When you're wrong, you apply the Prowler Formula to make yourself right in your eyes. I swear you really are a dumbass Alabama fan. Seriously.

In this particular thread, he specifically called me out to respond to him. Is it OK that I replied? I'm not "following him around". I replied to a question he specifically asked me, and replied in a thread specifically pointed towards Alabama fans. I don't think I need your approval to do so.

"Drive your board habits"? WTF? You're probably one of the last people who needs to try and talk to somebody about following a poster around, or letting somebody else "drive your board habits". If he were an Alabama fan, you would be breaking it off in him left and right.

The formula used for calculating your stupidity is a complicated one.  One you'd likely not understand.  One thing separates you from the second place contestant (by a mile), he doesn't try to improve his self worth.  As a matter of fact, he's probably the most honest person on this website.  In my TigersX filing system, I have *** ******* as the poster who is most like his internet persona.  WYSIWYG.  For that, I could never truly give him your crown without feeling a bit of guilt.  Luckily, as long as you are around, I'll never have to worry about it.

Still, no real reasons for your opinion.  I would assume you are one of the less educated posters on the site due to the way you feel the need to use profanity to get a point across.  That is usually the sign of someone who doesn't articulate well.  A limited vocabulary forces repetitive use of such filler words.  That would be one of the points to my argument.

I was under your skin enough that you went and took the time to put that e-mail together.  That is priceless.  The old Token would have just let it slide off of his back.

You remind me of one of those black police officers that smacks around a black suspect extra hard to impress the white guys on the force.  You should just be confident in yourself.

Dude, I seriously think you should let it go. I mean you said this...

Still, no real reasons for your opinion.  I would assume you are one of the less educated posters on the site due to the way you feel the need to use profanity to get a point across.  That is usually the sign of someone who doesn't articulate well.  A limited vocabulary forces repetitive use of such filler words.  That would be one of the points to my argument.
...and he called you out on it by deducting all your credibility of which you further more damage by totally dodging the point. The best thing to do here is to admit you got burned, tuck away your pride and move along.

Actually, I could care less about any of it.  I spend about 15-30 seconds and throw a reply on here.  I got a good laugh that someone took enough time to put together a list of quotes.  Really, in the grand scheme, who cares?

Come on now.  That just means he does care a little; however, if he tried, the sum total of that caring could be reduced to an extent.  There are actual issues in his life that do in fact warrant not caring at all.

Aight...let's clear this shit up.

BOTH are acceptable.

"I couldn't care less" is the most obvious and accepted usage.

"I could care less" is an abbreviated form of "I could care less, but I'd have to try."

Granted, the speaker using the latter is usually misusing it, or oblivious to the proper phrasing, but for fuck's sake...let's just let this point of grammar fascism die already.

Realistically, couldn't fuck's sake be combined to form a compound word?  FUCKSAKE

So what you are saying, is that you think he used it right, because he just abbreviated the proper usage, however, you are pretty sure that he didn't really know the right way to say it and mis said what was the right way to say it, but it should still be considered not mock-able.

Got it.

Okay, what if this certain poster states that Tennessee is gonna beat SPuat this upcoming weekend, would he still be the "dumbest mother fucker God ever stretched skin over"?

No, we've already announced who the dumbest motherfucker in the world is, and he graciously accepted the award by making yet another "wow that's a dumb motherfucker" post.

Tennessee beating Alabama this weekend?  I've never hit a woman before, but I'd probably slap the shit out of my wife just for the sake of perpetuating the stereotype.

Tennessee is bad.  Plus, they're corched by a guy who can't get out of his own way.  The only corch in history to lose a game to Les Miles by outdumbing him.  Close til half because of the rivalry but 30-10 by final gun.

Their OL is horrible. They have 2 true freshman as starters on the OL, and while they were studs coming out of HS, the OL is just not the place you want to have a true frosh. Oh, and their center is a vegetarian. If our DL can't annihilate an OL with two true freshmen and a vegetarian, I'm with Token, and somebody better hide my wife. She's already lucky I let her slide with the USCe game.

280, you're not your job. You're not how much money you have in the bank. You're not the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallet. You're not your fucking khakis. You're the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world.

280 is that guy you see in a restaurant being a total dick to the waitress. The guy who is an asshole to the chick at McDonalds because he got a root beer instead of a Coke. He's the guy that really doesn't mean shit to this world, but wants everybody to think he does. Granted, in my mind, I know I'm probably better off than those folks. But you know what? They do a job that I probably wouldn't ever do. I show them the same amount of respect I would show anybody else, because in the end, they're simply trying to do what's best for them and their families, and they probably don't even like their jobs. No matter how much he thinks he is, he's not any better than anybody else.
