The FBI Raided car dealerships in North Alabama...
A car dealership in Fort Payne gets locked down today while state agents serve a search warrant.
On Thursday morning, agents from the Alabama Department of Revenue went to the Crown Kia dealership in Fort Payne.
According to a spokesman for the department, agents were serving a court issued search warrant there, as well as other crown dealerships in Anniston and Gadsden.
The agent would not give any details on the nature of the investigation.
The revenue department along with agents from the F.B.I. were seen taking boxes from the dealerships.
The accounting firm of Kirkland and company in Gadsden was also served with search warrants.

Gadsden, AL - A raid on three auto dealerships temporarily shut down a well-known business on Thursday, as the state collected financial records with no warning.
Crown Motors sells Dodge, Chrysler and Kia vehciles in at least three counties, but today business came to a sudden halt. Basically the same thing happened at both dealerships in Gadsden and Anniston. Car lots were roped off by yellow crime tape and financial records were hauled away. It's a state led investigation to find out if the record books add up.

wow...
OK...now I am remotely interested...
-
This sounds like more of a tax related issue to me.
-
I'm trying to see what the connection IS to Bama... Not seeing it. Have you seen something somewhere that would seem to pull the two together?
-
This sounds like more of a tax related issue to me.
Yeah, that's probably all there is to it. The bammer's asses probably just synched up....lol.
-
FBI wouldn't come in I don't think for a tax related issue....would they???
The only thing I could see relating to Bama is just the rumors that cars were given. I think it is interesting that the rumors are out there, and then car dealorships are being searched by the FBI. I have no idea if it means shit, I am just now "remotely interested"... moreso than I was before the Feds went into car dealership in Anniston and Gadsden...

I do and I don't. It's interesting and keeps me watching, but I feel like I'm watching a combination of The X Files and Lost. Sci Fi meets spiderweb plot.

I just hope the show doesn't start getting too...stupid, if you know what I mean. I really like the ideas behind most of the stories. Did you see the Season Finale? That was a crazy little twist at the end.

what show is this? I'd like to go back and watch it if it's as good as you guys say it is.

May have something to do with Chrysler closing dealerships and accepting Federal bailout money.

Probably not. They fall under different divisions of the executive branch of government and the IRS has its own law enforcement division.

My guess would be a violation of the RICO statutes - some sort of organized conspiracy to launder money, etc.? And no, I am NOT tying this back to the bammers... I can just see how owning multiple dealerships would make it easy to do.

I'm with you. Betting this has zero, zip, zilch, nada, nothing, naught to do with Alabama. Sad that we're reduced to peddling it as if it does.

Most likely you are correct.
I will still hold out hope that the NCAA, FBI, CIA, INTERPOL and Marvin the Martian will rain down fury upon the heads of the crimson stain in Tuscaloosa for some unified galactic recruiting conspiracy.

Thats the barns only hope!

And Prowler wonders why Alabama fans laugh at him....
-
Answer me this, do I care if bammers laugh at me? And, what exactly would they be laughing at me for? The fact that SPuat will be hit with sanctions and the NCAA window will be re-opened? The possibility that there's more to come from Gadsden, Hoover, Mobile, Pensacola, Memphis & Melrose? The fact that the FBI shut down a Chrysler dealership in Gadsden that's run by a big bammer supporter (possibly booster)? Or is it the fact that I posted this article so that you bammers would squirm a little more?

I know I mainly laugh at you because when something happens, you make up all of this shit to go along with it and work yourself up into such a frenzy over nothing. For all you know, it could be the same thing that happened to a local Kia dealer where the owners of the dealership were manipulating paperwork to actually steal cars from the dealership and steal down payments on cars. ADOR and the FBI shut down a dealership in Daphne temporarily for this sort of thing recently as well. So, since you know the owner is a "big bammer supporter", whats his name? You also go ahead and speculate that there is a "possibility" that there is more to come with this is also speculated and totally fabricated.
In a nutshell, so you can perhaps more easily understand, I laugh at you because you totally make shit up and form a conclusion based off of something somebody posts on a message board. A dealership in a city gets shut down and financial records are hauled off, and you go six ways from Sunday with it, without having the least bit further information other than a dealership got raided. Nice. The fact that ADOR is involved tells me that it has something to do with state taxes. If it involves tax fraud with a corporation, that would explain the FBI as well, even if the problem is with only state taxes and not federal taxes.
-
This sounds like more of a tax related issue to me.
Yep!
-
If it involves tax fraud with a corporation, that would explain the FBI as well, even if the problem is with only state taxes and not federal taxes.
I don't believe this to be true: if it is a purely state-tax issue, there is no reason for the FBI to be involved. Their jurisdiction would not be implicated.
-
My guess would be a violation of the RICO statutes - some sort of organized conspiracy to launder money, etc.? And no, I am NOT tying this back to the bammers... I can just see how owning multiple dealerships would make it easy to do.
Car lots are famous as fronts for drug operations and money laundering.

Actually, when it involves a corporation, and if there is any sort of fraud, that brings it into the FBI's field of play.
-
Prowler, I'm still waiting on the name of the owner of the dealership since you must know it if you proclaim he is a huge supporter of Alabama athletics.
-
Prowler, I seriously hope you are posting this as a joke to get the local Bama fans stirred up.
-
Also, for the record, the F.B.I. along with the Etowah County Sheriff's Office assisted the Alabama Department of Revenue with the search. This is an Alabama Department of Revenue investigation, for those seriously interested.

I honestly tried to immerse myself into the post-Kirk era of Star Trek. I couldn't do it. They should have rigged the Enterprise with explosives and ended the series with a bang at the end of the run back in '69. Having someone else leading the crew in boldly going where no man has gone before is equal to Paulie Shore performing Shakespeare in my opinion.
-
A couple of interesting things from some folks in Gadrock (Gadsden)
- Apparently there had been alot of complaints from folks trading in their vehicles that the dealership was not promptly paying off the traded in vehicle. Supposedly, Crown would take the money given to them from the financing of the new vehicle to in part pay off the balance of the traded in vehicle. They would use that money as cash flow for a few months. The buyer would get calls from the finance company of the traded in vehicle wondering why there hasn't been a payment. Chaos ensues. The vehicle is finally paid off.
- In November the management at all three dealerships was changed and finance managers at two of the locations were changed.
- Sometime recently (in the past 3-4 months) a new owner bought Crown Motors.
- This owner attempted to buy out a Hyundai dealership. The owners of the Hyundai dealership reneged on their end of the purchase contract and the new owner of Crown stopped payment to the owners of the Hyundai place.
- Nobody thinks that the new owner is in the wrong, nor do they think this has anything to do with the Hyundai deal. They think it has to do with the previous owner of Crown and some shady accounting practices at the dealership and at the accounting firm.
I think over the next few days some things will become public. In the meantime, please continue to spin how this will be a groundbreaking event and will bring Alabama football to its knees.

Actually, when it involves a corporation, and if there is any sort of fraud, that brings it into the FBI's field of play.
I don't think this is accurate.
What would implicate the FBI's jurisdiction? Corporations are subject to the laws of their home state and fraud, unless it's wire fraud, isn't necessarily a federal issue. Your statement may be true in some instances, but it is not an accurate generalization.
-

Certain types of fraud are a federal issue. They mainly deal with fraud in publically traded companies, however, they can assert jurisdiction in any corporate fraud case where basically the books are being cooked to inflate profit or hide loss, among many other factors. You won't see them get in the middle of much other than a publically traded company because usully fraud at a small corporate level isn't a large amount of money or doesn't affect the general American public. The FBI isn't the organization that raided the dealership anyway. The Alabama Department of Revenue is the lead investigative agency on it and they are the agency that applied for and executed the search warrant. They simply asked the FBI to assist them as oversight. I think thats why the whole thing screams accounting fraud/subsequent tax issues.

Probably some interstate dealings, which would involve the FBI. Just guessing. I'm no barrister, but I did sleep in a tent on Bayou Bartholomew the other night.

Forrest Frost
Its about time you figured it out. I knew it when I asked you, its really not that hard to find out. Now, please explain how he is a big Alabama supporter. I'm dying to hear this part.

You should know...that is if you go to any REC meetings.

Oh, and another little interesting tidbit to go along with this story. Anybody care to take a guess at who the owner and president of Kirkland & Company of Gadsden, PC are? Kirkland is the car dealership's accounting firm that got raided, in case you have a bad memory.
Owner: Donna Frost
President: Forrest Frost
I'm starting to see a fairly clear picture why the Alabama Department of Revenue is interested in them.
-
Well, who owns a certain Pharmacy in Tuscaloosa? And by certain, I'm pretty sure you know the one I'm talking about....just curious.

I'm asking you specifically how Forrest Frost is involved with the REC and/or how is a big booster/supporter, and how this can be proven. No reason to dance around the question by answering a question with a question. Since you apparently have all the answers, please enlighten me. You're the one that claimed all of this, so spill the beans. I'm interested in knowing what the connection is, not playing fifty questions and going six ways from Sunday with the answer.

Just a question... Regardless of how many of the endless rumors, names and innuendos are out there, how will you react if ANY of it comes to pass and Alabama goes back on probation, loses schollies and maybe even loses some post season rights?
I'm not defending anything rather that just curious what kind of comeback, or relevant response you'll have for any of this if Alabama gets it's nuts in a crank again.
I'lll hang up and listen.

For example, if the Dodge Charger rumor were true, I would be highly ashamed of the supporters of Alabama and anybody involved in the situation. If anybody on the staff or anywhere in the Athletic Department were involved in it, or aware of it for that matter, I would call for them to be shown the door immediately. Even if it went down to Nick Saban himself. I would undoubtedly still support my team, however I would be ashamed at what had taken place.
-
How about if someone stated that Jerrell still has his Dodge Charger and that Dre did have a Charger that was on lease, but then he gave it back soon after ChargerGate was hitting the internet. How would that make you feel about the situation? Oh yeah, Forrest Frost are bammers.

Still waiting on you to show me the connection. You're the one that said he's a big Alabama supporter, and that if I had been to a REC meeting I would know. Then when I asked you for the connection, you asked if I knew who owned a certain drug store in Tuscaloosa. Again, just spill the beans without the spin and trying to divert, etc. What specifically is the connection between Frost and the REC, and how in the hell does a pharmacy in Tuscaloosa play into that? You're the one here stating it as fact, so apparently you know all about it. Do tell, inquiring minds wish to know.

Wow, you're staying on this board to hear how I know FF is a bammer, lol......okay? There are people that live in Gadsden that say that he's a Spuat supporter, possibly REC member or booster, but that he has nothing to do with the Chargers, those came from a Birmingham dealership through car auction(s). Does that answer your question? You do know that Gadsden is nearly all eaten up with the inbred nation? I know you're from the Mobile area, but I figured that you realized this.
As for the owner of a Pharmacy in Tuscaloosa, I was asking you who it was.

The fact that the FBI shut down a Chrysler dealership in Gadsden that's run by a big bammer supporter (possibly booster)?
Par for the course, I suppose. As for the pharmacy, I have no idea. I'm sure there are alot of pharmacies in Tuscaloosa, and I don't even know which one you are talking about. In any event, I don't know who owns any of them. What does a pharmacy in Tuscaloosa have to do with the price of Skittles in China? Whatever it is, I'm sure there is a theory of cheating and whatnot behind it. God knows there cannot be a single commit that would willingly go to the University of Alabama. Every single one of them has to be paid or given a car. :taunt:

I never, ever, ever eat the red ones. Red skittles (and red M&Ms) are sorted from the pile and put in the trash or thrown out the window of the car. I abhor red.
This has made M&Ms at the movies problematic. If I can't sort the bag before I go in I either won't eat any of them for concern over getting a red one or I use the cell phone light to peruse the handful and drop the red ones in the floor.

:taunt:
*sigh*
Its funny, the first like 6 pages of this is the reference that the raid on the dealership may have to do with "ChargerGate", the owner is a big Alabama supporter, etc., but now you say that the owner of this dealership didn't have anything to do with any Chargers. You can't even keep your bullshit straight. Still waiting to see the concrete connection, and still waiting on why the hell you even brought up a pharmacy.

Jim Meyers owns a pharmacy in Tuscaloosa but he may be dead. So does Rob Colburn.
This Harrison guy used to own one -- or actually a bunch of them. One summer I crashed at his kid's beach house while we "watched" the pharmacy in Gulf Shores. I guess you can call drunkenly staggering by and screaming "HAHAHAHA, you fuckers have to WORK!!" watching it.

Amen to all of that. Same here. No Bama jelly, either.
Smuckers, motherfuckers.
Now that one is legit.
I won't buy that bullshit either. It is actually a bammer product. I saw a jar that had the Atlanta Braves wannabe script A logo. I believe it said something about donating proceeds to the University.

LMAO....you mean, the fan's donations of $0.37 per fan wasn't enough?

The only ones I saw had Disney cartoons and Rocky and Bullwinkle on them.
I did some product information research several years back and discovered this shit was actually made in Oklahoma and marketed for the southeastern consumer. I still refused to purchase the stuff, mainly because of the name. Secondly, because it tastes like shit. Welch's bought the condiment branch and continued the name - while BAMA products geared their production to the commercial food service industry.

<still crickets>
Will Prowler ever provide a specific piece of information in his lifetime? Stay tuned.....

Maybe you're too fucking retarded to see that I posted the dealerships getting raided to see bammers, like yourself, get worried. I knew that it was probably just tax related before I posted it. The owner of the dealership, in Gadsden, is a bammer supporter. The Chargers, in question, have been passed/moved around multiple times through numerous car Auctions. And the NCAA has already investigated a few people in Gadsden, namely a certain AC at GCHS and a Lawyer.
I asked the question about the Pharmacy, because you were posting the names of the Presidents/owners of the Dealerships and the accounting firm. I figured that you'd already heard about the Pharmacy in Tuscaloosa, as it relates to the Pharmacy/Doctor in Kentucky & Jeremy Jarmon.
(I'm not going to be commenting anymore on any situations, in regards to SPuat and NCAA violations, until they are handed down)

I was waiting on something like this. Its like your own little disclaimer. "I'm going to spout off a whole bunch of bullshit and make it seem like I know something, but I'm not giving anything specific because I have no idea what I'm talking about"
If you don't want to discuss it, why post it on a message board? It makes you no better than the fly-by trolls that come and post bullshit about AU. Sounds like somebody doesn't like getting called out and exposed for what he is, a message board troll.
