Droid Eris by HTC
« on: February 11, 2010, 12:04:17 PM »
I'm on Verizon and I'm thinking about buying two Droid Eris by HTC phones when the tax return comes back in. My wife's Blackberry is fucked up, and the speakers on my EnV2 don't work. Does anybody have the Eris, or know anybody that has one? Pros? Cons?

The Motorola Droid is not an option. I'm not going to pay $400 for cell phones.

From what i have investigated it seems to be in line with the rest of the HTC product line.  I am with Sprint so I do not have the Droid either. ( I have the Hero) I have really enjoyed mine and would not go back to a Blackberry.

Some info that might help.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

I did a little research as well, and found that most people liked them fairly well, except they are battery hungry. I was just a little skeptical that something that cheap could be as functional and on par with the Motorola Droid as far as quality, reliability, etc.

I think out of the box most people have had battery life issues with every HTC product that is on the market but there are some basic settings you can change that will make a world of difference!  I am not on my phone all day long talking so I am sure that would make some difference as well but I am constantly getting email and texts on it.  I unplugged it yesterday morning and forgot to put it on the charger last night and my battery level is around 20% at this point.
You also want to see how large of an SD card will come equipped on the phone.  If there was one complaint I had about the Hero is it only came with a 1Gig card.  I bought a 16 gig card off of ebay for $30.00 so no more problem there.

I'm posting right now with my HTC Touch Pro 2 (T-Mobile).  I've had issues with my battery life, but it's probably because I'm online nearly all day, even when I'm not around my phone, it's still online...lol.  I absolutely fuckin' love it.  Plus, I've just purchased an App that causes my phone to be a WiFi Hotspot, I'm all about helpin' a brother out.
