The ONE and the Notre Dame commencement address

I hate to post on this but it's been bothering me all week.

I've heard just about every right-wing talk show host rant about this subject most of this week; that is, The ONE should not be delivering the commencement address at Notre Dame, they all say (including Bill Donohue head of the vilified Catholic League) because he holds political beliefs opposed to those of the Church (including his support of planned parenthood/ abortion rights among other things).

My first thought was that the university can invite whomever they wish to speak at their commencement service; and it's traditional to have the President deliver it if possible.  They invited President Bush to speak and I heard no complaints about that on talk radio yet the Church was firmly against the War in Iraq.

Anyway, as a Protestant, Southern, Republican, Conservative I had to say something...even though there shouldn't be anything to see here.
