Brave's lost a series to Oakland in late May and then won 11 straight series up to the break with a patchwork of starters.
Fried expected back later this month, Wright is thought to return mid to late August.

Already having withdrawals and the first half only ended hours ago.

One of the hardest daily games I've come across.

https://www.immaculategrid.com/

Cards won a series, so now i need the "oh fuck, you're going to make me HAVE HOPE" meme.

And now lose a series to the lowly Chi-Sawxxx. 2 of their last series losses are to two of the worst teams in Beisbol.

Maybe all your boy's needed to hear was the word "sell" to get them going.
Brave's bullpen took a shit tonight and couldn't get off the pot.

Still think they are going to sell, but taking at least 2 of 3 against the Fish is nice.

Scored 13 last night and lost by 3.  Braves have dropped 3 of 4 to start the second half.

I can foresee us going after some arms before the deadline.  Right now, we have these pitchers on injured reserve:

Max Fried

AJ Minter

Jesse Chavez

Kyle Wright

Nick Anderson

Dylan Lee

Tyler Matzek

Jackson Stephens

That's not good.

My doctor told me I needed to stop masturbating.  I asked him why, and he said, "because I'm trying to examine you."

This is the kind of trade I can see the Cards making (from one of the beatwriters on the twatterz):  trade O’Neill, Burleson & Stratton for a young, true #1 starter with 5+ years of control.

Not many lefthanded set up men/ closers available. Wouldn't mind having a starter like Blake Snell or add Ryan Helsley and Brendan Donovan for a stretch run. Donovan is a LH bat with speed and some pop. Can play 2nd, 3rd and all three OF spots.
Can't imagine going the entire 2nd half without somebody missing some time.

Hearing only 4 safe players for Cards are Goldie, Arenado, Noot, and Jordan Walker.

Personally, I'd try to sell Goldie.

Strange being sellers.

41 year old Adam Wainwright is the scheduled starter at Arizona. What a tremendous pitcher he has been over the years. He's only given up 3 runs in each of his last two decisions and I truly want him to shut down the Dbacks and shutup the naysayers if only for one game in this his last season. Would also be nice if the redbirds could muster up some run support for a truly great Cardinal.

"He's done three up-downs in the bullpen and he's ready for 65 pitches," said Marmol, who is hoping to get at least five innings out of Wainwright on Monday.

I learned my lesson having bet against him twice. But yeah you're right.
Guess he just can't go easily.

And here's his starts since June 1, something clearly not right in London vs Chicago, and I'd happily take 5-6 IP out of him.

                             IP        H     R        ER
Jul 4 @ Marlins      3.1       7      7        4
Jun 29 vs Astros    1.2       6      6        6
Jun 24 vs Cubs      3.0       11    7        7
Jun 17 @ Mets       6.1       7     3        3
Jun 11 vs Reds      5.2       8     3        3
Jun 5 @ Rangers   5.1       8      3        3

Snitker just gifted a series to Boston last night. It's commonplace to leave your best pitcher out there after giving up back to back solos before removing him with a very probable chance to pick up another win. But rather than bring in a tried and true reliever to protect the lead for your best starter; the manager elects to bring in newly acquired Pierce Johnson in a "high leverage" situation to throw him directly into the battle and he promptly turns Strider's effort into a no decision and Ozzie Albie's heroics into a notable byline.
It's a long season and Snitker is capaple of so much more.
Nice to have a day off while waiting for the Brewer's to arrive.

How many more days before opening kickoff?

95% of MLB teams since the all star break have been either meh or complete ass. Its weird. Go look at the last 10 games for every team. Most sit between 3-7 and 6-4. Before the break you could look at the standings at any given time and see a handful of teams that were 8-2/9-1 over their last ten.

Very true. Maybe five teams with 6 wins or more including Boston who was handed a win on Wednesday night.

Don't like the Braves in this coming series with these pitching matchups.
Better get this one tonight bc it only gets worse.

Yeah I know this is the backside of Milwaukee's starting pitching but their bullpen can remedy that weakness.
