Auburn in the Draft
« on: May 03, 2022, 11:43:06 AM »
I think this year's NFL Draft, painfully pointed out where Auburn is as a program, with regard to our overall level of talent.  Roger McCreary went early in the second round to the Tennessee Titans.  After that.....nada! Zip! Zilch!

Not that anyone would expect record numbers like this, but FUGA had 15 players taken, which gives you an idea of the disparity in talent between the two programs.  Last season, Kirby Smart took a nice shot at Dan Mullen, when he basically said Mullen isn't winning because he doesn't recruit.  If you don't have the Jimmy's and Joe's, none of it matters.

Not sure we have a Jimmy or a Joe on the roster.

However, we did have a number of players sign free agent contracts with NFL teams, so at least they will get their shot to show what they can do.

Smoke Monday:  New Orleans Saints

Zacoby McClain: Baltimore Ravens.  (This surprised me.  I thought he would go in the second or third rounds)

Chandler Wooten:  Arizona Cardinals

TD Moultry:  Pittsburgh Steelers

Demetris Robertson:  Seattle Seahawks

Brodaliciousness Hamm:  Baltimore Ravens

Plenty of talent on the roster.

Draft after year 1 is not Harsin's fault or concern.

No, seriously.  We don't have a Jimmy or a Joe on the roster.  I checked.

Didn't say it was on Harbinger.  I agree there is talent, but very little of it is on the offensive side of the ball.  Tank is legit, and I'd say Michael Samuel Davis Jr. Shenker is one of the better tight ends in the league.  Outside of that, it's one big collection of pfffffffft and might be's.

Semi-related:

Stidham is being traded to the Raiders of Las Vegas for some late round picks.

Reunited with Josh McDaniels and backing up Carr.

Glad to see he's still in the league.  I'll be a career back up for $800K per...

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.
