Don’t call me...
« on: April 19, 2019, 09:40:14 AM »
So, since I’ve been driving to and from Birmingham from Gadsden (an hour drive one way), I’ve had the chance to listen to music again the way I did before I had kids. Anyway this song pops up and immediately the opening riff just grabs ahold, damn good stuff.

In regards to OP anything from Eddie Vedder will rock your face off.  Except when he sings about the Cubs.

In my opinion, the 90's was one of the best decades when it comes to music.

The 70s and 80s might have word to say(sans disco).

I think that all depends on the time in which you were born.  I am a child of the 80's and love 80's music.  I think if you qualified that the 90's was THE best decade when it came to Alternative music, that would be hard to argue.

There was some good rock that came out of the 70's and very little good rock came out of the 80's.  I will say that the 90's had some crap as well but, the 90's was a game changer in the music scene.  hair bands and make up were gone, back to writing your own music and it meaning something.

Yeah, no.  The 80's songs had meaning too. It was about having a good time. The 90s music was about kids hating themselves, their lives, and their parents. I can't say the music was any better as a whole.

I can agree with that.  I think minus the hair and makeup, I would have enjoyed 80's music more.  Every decade has a fan base that grew up listening to the music of that time and would argue that it was the best time of music.  But if we really look at every decade, I think the 80's would fall toward the bottom of the list.  That's comparing it to the 50's, 60's, 70's, 90's and 00's.  I will go as far to say that 00's and forward, rock music would be at the bottom

They do this one at most shows I've attended... But Alpine Valley on the opening weekend of the PJ20 tour was the best version I've heard.  My buddy swears the version he heard at the Gorge back around 2005 or so is the best.

It's definitely their best live song, in my book.  The entire crowd is wrapped up in that tune.

I went to see them the first time they came to Alabama (thanks Neil Young).  That was back in 98' so I don't really remember if they played it there or not.  I do know that several songs from that show made it on the "Live on two legs" album.  It was definitely not the high flying show that you'd seen in their videos.  It was very laid back and chill, no general admission, folding chairs in the floor section.

I didn't wanna... But you forced my hand.

I'm gonna "old man" ya.

My first PJ show was in 1994 at the Pensacola Civic center.  They didn't play"Release"...I don't think Ed had written it yet.

They opened the show with a cover song " I won't back down".

They ended the show... After playing Ten in it's entirety pretty much... With Ed smashing the stage to shit with his mic stand.
