This is setting up to be a fun few months. The hysteria from the left will be epic. I just hope the Republicans grow some balls and do what needs to be done in the confirmation process.

WASHINGTON â€” Justice Anthony M. Kennedy announced on Wednesday that he will retire this summer, setting in motion a furious fight over the future of the Supreme Court and giving President Trump the chance to cement a conservative judicial philosophy on the American legal system for generations.

A critical swing vote on the sharply polarized court for nearly three decades, Justice Kennedy, 81, embraced liberal views of gay rights, abortion and the death penalty even as he helped conservatives trim voting rights, block gun control measures and unleash campaign spending by corporations.

His replacement by a conservative justice â€” something Mr. Trump has vowed to insist upon â€” is certain to reshape the countryâ€™s legal landscape and could imperil a variety of landmark Supreme Court precedents on social issues, like abortion, where Justice Kennedy frequently sided with his liberal colleagues.

The ideological shift caused by Justice Kennedyâ€™s departure could leave Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr., himself a reliable conservative appointed by George W. Bush, as the decisive vote on a court whose other justices may soon include four committed liberals and four die-hard conservatives.

I fully expect the most epic meltdown ever. Heads will explode. Cardiologist are going to be super busy come September time frame with a swarm of new patients.

Then again, they may riot and set entire cities on fire.

Clarion calls already out on CNN, MSNBC, USAToday, etc. for the Senate to try to delay confirmation until the Democrats win control...

Just my opinion, but the prospect of that happening will put an end to any potential "blue wave." People on the Trump side who might not otherwise have voted will get out once again to see if they can make a difference and keep the Supreme Court from tilting to more moonbatty.

Despite what the media, Jimmy Fallon, Colbert, Maher and those assclowns want you to believe, there's WAY more of us than there are of them. We're just quieter about it.

Having this out there will be an energizing factor for a group that far too often feels helpless.
