Metallica's New Album - Death Magnetic
« on: September 15, 2008, 08:08:28 PM »
Holy fucking shit, does it ever rule. I was blindsided by the rock. I guess because I was expecting it to suck along the lines of their last couple efforts. I only downloaded it to piss Lars off, and out of a little curiosity.

I was pleasantly surprised.

AC/DC's new album "Black Ice" comes out next month, and if it is half the return to glory days as this album is I may just blow my load.

I was curious about the whole thing.  XM's had a Metallica channel now for the past month which has been bad ass.  I'll have to go ahead and grab it.  I was a little leary after St. Anger.......

Thanks for sayin' something Chizad!

I hope it's worth a shit because I haven't been able to listen to their music since I saw that documentary, which showed Hetfield to be a blathering psycho-babble pussy.  Let's get in touch with our feelings.

Shut the fuck up and play some rock.

I'll probably illegally download it.

Queen is also releasing a new studio album with their new lead singer that they tour with, Paul Rodgers, sometime the end of October.

ALSO, AC/DC is going on Tour....and they'll be in Atlanta on Dec. 16th.

Yes the rock is good on it.  It is no "Ride the Lightning" or "Master of Puppets" but there will never be  those again.

It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

It's called maturing. No man should have to live his life in a drug induced stupor just to assuage your desires. Many groups have proved that their music can be just as good without their personal lives in the gutter. St. Anger was their first attempt at this. Give them a break.

Not to mention, Lars is a listhping dick!

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

The only post-drug-addled music that I can recall being good was SRV...then he died.

Who can you cite as proof that rehabilitated musicians make quality music?

I can't vouch for the quality of this album.  Therefore, I'm not ready to say that, post-rehab, Metallica makes good music.

Aerosmith. Eagles.
Nothing these bands did after cleaning up came close to touching their early work.  Poor music when they aren't fucked up.

I'd like to hear a couple of songs before I buy. The only song I've heard ,don't know the name but, Jame's voice sucks. On a positive note ,that same song, Kirk Hammett's riffs are reminicent of some of the old stuff.
I can't tell much about the new bassis. I think it's Robert Truillo, I saw him on  a tour with ozzy and Zack Wylde. Any time you're playing Rudy Sarzo live, you're kicking ass.  He's good so hopefully it will show up on some of the other songs.

Someone mentioned ''they'll never be a Ride the lighning or Master of Puppets'' . Sad but true. Drug induced music versus the new cleaned up bands, no comparison, not even close. Some how they can't seem to regain what they lost throughout the cleaning up process. I don't know what it is, but it is a constant for pretty much every band.
