This day just got shittier.

Tom has died.  Massive heart attack.

Loved this guy. He was one of my favorites. And it didn't get much cooler than him.

Edit: cbs and others have restracted the death stories. Tom is still here. Gosh I hope he makes it.

This one hurts.  Tom Petty fan.  One of the few concerts I never made and had actually looked up his tours for next year so I could mark this one off my list.

Echo all of this. Looked up his tours every year to see if he was closeby. Such a smooth rebel.

This one really got to me more than most.

Weird because some major outlets are reporting it. I saw it from cbs.

But others like his official Xm channel and tmz are not reporting it.

Yeah, this one sucks big time.  I don't mean this like it sounds, but I'm almost glad it was a heart attack and not how so many have gone recently.  Suicide and overdose are preventable for the most part.  I look at it like he lived on his own terms until something took him.

On behalf of the Tom Petty family we are devastated to announce the untimely death of our father, husband, brother, leader and friend Tom Petty.


He suffered cardiac arrest at his home in Malibu in the early hours of this morning and was taken to UCLA Medical Center but could not be revived.


He died peacefully at 8:40pm PST surrounded by family, his bandmates and friends.
