Inclusive means exclude?

Quote
“My personal feeling is we need to find a way to honor and engage in holidays that are inclusive of our student population,” Principal Scott Masini wrote in a letter to parents.

The Star-Tribune reports the letter was surfaced on a private Facebook page titled, “Supporting St. Paul Students and Teachers.”

“I have come to the difficult decision to discontinue the celebration of the dominant holidays until we can come to a better understanding of how the dominant view will suppress someone else’s view,” the principal noted.

This is such bullshit.  And a reflection of what's wrong with our current way of thinking.

And a reflection of what's wrong with our current way of thinking.

This is how 84% of IOWA's 17-29 year olds support a friggin Socialist for President. This "everyone-gets-a-rainbow bright trophy" world is going to be the end of us.

What is less "inclusive" than a holiday focused on choosing a particular person to be your "valentine."

I boycott that stupid fucking holiday on principal, but I can see the school trying not to alienate the motorheads, geeks, sluts, bloods, wastoids, dweebies, and dickheads.

I get Valentines.

But we're not going to allow celebrations of Thanksgiving?  One of the most basic concepts from the founding of this country?  And we're not going to celebrate Christmas because it's "dominant?"

If I went to live in Iran, I would not demand that the schools abolish all Muslim holidays.  It's part of living there.  I might choose not to participate, but I wouldn't expect the entire culture to change on my behalf.  If I went to live in Mexico, I'd choose to skip some of the Catholic holidays probably.  But I wouldn't assume that the schools would do the same in the name of "inclusion."

F.U.C.K inclusion.

When I was in college learning to teach we had all these classes on mainstreaming and how you couldn't separate students by ability.  All had to be included. What you end up with is nothing.  A segment of the class you can't reach because you have to move so slowly they check out.  A segment of the class you can't reach because they're not capable of following the material.  And a little slice in the middle that doesn't get much because of the distractions caused by the bored upper segment and the yowling lower group.  Everybody passes!  Everybody gets a ribbon.

I don't believe in inclusion.

Is it part of living here?

Is school an appropriate venue for holiday/religious celebration?

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.
