Voting Hours

Voting Hours
« on: November 05, 2012, 02:52:41 PM »
7am-7pm.

Isn't that a bit squeezed for people that work?

I mean, I know that unemployed voters will have plenty of time to go vote, but for those that work long hours, how will they get to vote?

My father, for example, has to work tomorrow 7am-9pm because his company is having a visit from their corporate office later this week.  He's going to try to make it out to vote and most likely will, but I really think voting should start early.  REALLY early like 5am.

By law I'm pretty sure they have to give you enough time in the day to exercise that right.

Typically, here anyway, if you are in line by 7 PM the polls will stay open to allow all folk in line at that time to cast a ballot.

This excuse of not being able to make it to the polls doesn't wash with me and never has; if you can't make it to vote then you have the other option to vote absentee (which you should have been planning for if your work hours are a question; and that's been long before this fraudulent-riddled, silliness of "early voting" started).

There's no acceptable excuse for not voting short of a death or illness or act of God (and in Chicago even the dead vote!).  If the fucking Iraqis can dodge IEDs and get to the polls to vote (recall the purple thumbs!) then we sure as hell can.

No offense.

I have voted absentee for the past two presidential elections and love it.

It is so much easier, especially on the amendments, because I can take time and look at what the things actually mean.

Do they actually count the absentee ballots in Florida?

Maybe not.

Your antisemitism is palpable, sir.  I think there are some rules against that in this forum but I'd have to check with a moderator first...
