I remember what a difference the Army went from being under Carter to Reagan.

A veteran is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America ' for an amount of 'up to and including my life.' That is Honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it.'

Quite an insightful article; appreciate you posting it.  There were several references in this article that particularly stood out to me in that the discipline problems (especially the ones cited) were not 'operational' but were moral and ethical failures (and it is very clear that the commanders meant 'moral' and NOT 'morale').  I am not an intolerant, bigoted, religious zealot nor do I think of myself as a hard-core, social conservative per se however part of me must consider that this type of failing might just be a reflection of American society at large currently but that's entirely anecdotal.

I am not gonna say your right or wrong as I have no idea what today’s Army is going through. I can tell you that when I was in the drug use and problems seemed to start clearing up when the troops starting respecting their leadership and it started with the Commander in Chief. And I think not only do our troops not respect him but a lot folks don’t (see FBI scandal).

Well, I think that the poor military leadership currently at the very top does have a huge amount of bearing on the respect (or lack thereof) that the rest of the military has for him.  The Pharaoh has done little or nothing to earn that respect.

Plus, he's successfully alienated half the electorate of the nation.  I was simply making an observation about society at large and speculating whether or not the undisciplined actions in the military are a symptom of the lack of respect for our current leadership as a whole.  I think there might be something to that.
