Stan White and Eli Gold have stepped down from their duties as hosts of the morning talk radio show "Eli & Stan" which has aired on 97.3 FM "The Zone" since the station launched its new format back on August 30, 2011. White, who serves as the color analyst for Auburn football radio broadcasts, and Gold, who serves as the radio play-by-play man for Alabama football as well as NASCAR, cited personal reasons for their decision to end the show's run.
"Stan and Eli are extremely busy men with a lot going on in their lives," said 97.3 program manager John Olsen. "Eli has his NASCAR duties and his restaurant and Stan owns an insurance business and has his third child on the way, and I think getting up at 4:30 every morning in addition to planning a new show every day was just something they couldn't continue to commit to."
"Stan and Eli have been terrific partners for us in getting this new station launched and we definitely plan to have them both on regularly as contributors."
Future plans for the time slot are still being decided, but midday host Matt Coulter will fill in for at least the next week in the 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. time slot for the station.
Olsen said the station is encouraging listeners to offer suggestions about what kind of show they'd like to hear in the morning time slot going forward and asked that all feedback be sent to his email address at john.olsen@coxradio.com.
"We are looking for feedback from our listeners to find out what they want in a morning show and we encourage them to let us know what they think and what they'd like to hear," Olsen said.
