By the way, ESPN won't play the MNF theme song because of Hank's comments in that clip.

Fuck ESPN.    He compared Obama to Hitler?

He didn't REALLY compare them. He said for the repubs to play golf with the head dems would be like Hitler playing golf with Netantayu. The situation brings up two totally opposite positions. But anytime you mention the name Hitler in any way associated with the ONE, you might as well have called him the N word.

I guess I'll watch something else tonight too.

He didn't compare him to Hitler like the ESPN article says?

I didn't watch the original video, so I'm just flying on a whim here.

Hank released a statement:

Quote
Hank Williams, Jr. has released a statement regarding his comments on Fox & Friends on October 3:

“Some of us have strong opinions and are often misunderstood. My analogy was extreme – but it was to make a point. I was simply trying to explain how stupid it seemed to me - how ludicrous that pairing was. They’re polar opposites and it made no sense. They don’t see eye-to-eye and never will. I have always respected the office of the President.”

“Every time the media brings up the tea party it’s painted as racist and extremists – but there’s never a backlash – no outrage to those comparisons… Working class people are hurting – and it doesn’t seem like anybody cares. When both sides are high-fiving it on the ninth hole when everybody else is without a job – it makes a whole lot of us angry. Something has to change. The policies have to change.”

– Hank Williams, Jr.

ESPN is pulling Hank Williams' classic intro song from Monday night's broadcast of the game between Tampa Bay and Indianapolis after the country singer used an analogy to Adolf Hitler in discussing President Barack Obama.

In an interview Monday morning on Fox News' "Fox & Friends," Williams said of Obama's outing on the links with House Speaker John Boehner: "It'd be like Hitler playing golf with (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu."

Asked to clarify, Williams said: "They're the enemy," adding that by "they" he meant Obama and Vice President Joe Biden.

"While Hank Williams Jr. is not an ESPN employee, we recognize that he is closely linked to our company through the open to 'Monday Night Football,'" ESPN said in a statement. "We are extremely disappointed with his comments, and as a result we have decided to pull the open from tonight's telecast."

ESPN did not say whether the intro, synonymous with "Monday Night Football" since 1989, would be used again after this week's Buccaneers-Colts game.

The song "All My Rowdy Friends Are Here on Monday Night" is a remixed version of his 1984 hit "All My Rowdy Friends are Coming Over Tonight." The version won Williams four Emmy Awards in the early 1990s as the opening theme to "Monday Night Football," then on ABC.

-ASSOCIATED PRESS

http://blogs.tennessean.com/tunein/2011/10/03/hank-williams-jr-dropped-from-monday-night-football-after-fox-friends-appearance/

I have to disagree with The Rowdy Friend on this one.  The analogy missed it by ten miles.

Neither Obama nor Boehner wants to see the other exterminated.  Well, maybe they do.  But they aren't using a special police force to torture and gas people.

Maybe it was the bammer hat, but he seemed drunker than Bahr.

Sounded like trying to discuss political theory with Doyel from Sling Blade. Or YouTube sensation Cowboy. The Fox & Friends crew were facepalming, which says a lot.

Basically he started by hitting on Gretchen. Said he didn't like "nobody" of the 2012 GOP candidates. Explained this by saying "Member at golf game? At was one of the biggest political mistakes ever. At turned a lotttta people off."

"You mean when John Boenner played golf with Obama?"

"Ohhhh yeahhhh (arrogant chuckle)." Angrily shouted "they're the enemy."

"Who? Who's the enemy?"

"OBAMA!!! And Biden, are you kidden me? The Three Stooges!"

"That's only two..."

It went down hill from there.

Gretchen flat out said "You just used the name of one of the most hated man in all of the world to describe the President."

Hank chuckled and said "Well, it's true, that is true." and followed that with "Don't ask me a question cause I'm gonna give too straight of an answer."

I don't give a shit if he sings the Monday Night Football theme or not, but he definitely came across as an ignorant redneck.

Just imagine that was some Hollywood celebrity angrily shouting those things about Bush while he was the President of the United States. That he's the enemy. You don't think that would spark a little controversy?

The lobs lambasted Bush worse than that and there was no outrage.

And just because there are a lot of educated city dwellers that might not agree, therE is also a shitload of ignorant ass rednecks that agree with every word he said. But I guess they don't count. They are too ignorant to have a valid opinion. Screw ESPN. I did not watch their station tonight because of this.

Bullshit.

Who, besides Hugo Chavez, flat-out called Bush "the enemy"? And if they did, I'm pretty sure there would be a thread in the political forum here bitching about it. And I would agree that it was over the line.

Bottom line is this is America and he can say what he wants, but that doesn't mean there are no consequences.

Guess this needs to be moved to the Political forum.

It started out as a dig at Bama for his choice of hat during this slurred tirade, but I see it's going in a different direction.

You changed it when you brought up ESPN not playing his song for his comments.

He wasn't comparing Obama to Hitler. He was comparing 2 polar opposite, unlikely sides making company with one another. Maybe he should have used Catholics and Protestants, Yankees and Southerners, Jews and Arabs.  Whenever Hitler gets invoked, its almost an automatic death sentence now. All he was doing was comparing polar opposites. His only crime here is probably using a bad example. You all know this and want to make a huge deal out of very little. Hippies.

That's a nice cop-out, and I'd agree if all he did was use Hitler as a comparison.

Gretchen Carlson made a point to clarify that he was using Hitler to describe the President, and he chuckled and said "Yeah, well, that's true," and said not to ask him a question because you'll get an honest answer.

But to me, forget about the Hitler comments, what was even worse, was the comments about how "they're the enemy. OBAMA!"

The commander-in-chief of the United States is the enemy? Ok, Ahmadinejad. That's bordering on treasony. You'd see that if we had a Republican president, which is why I brought that up.

You can claim people "lambasted Bush worse than that and there was no outrage", but that is complete bullshit. So when the Dixie Chicks said they were embarrassed to be from Texas where Bush is from, you never commented on it. It wasn't controversial at all. They weren't banned nationwide from radio stations and there were no organized CD/merchandise burnings/steamrollings?

It is VERY possible to think the President is our own worst enemy. Look around you, look at the country and the state it's in. And it's not treasonous to think that. Unless Hank is a threat to overthrow the govt, in cahoots with a country were at war with or is a spy - which you know he isn't. If Jane Fonda didn't get charged with treason for what she did in Hanoi, no one probably will for these kind of petty statements.

Like you said, it was probably in a drunkin rant. Sean Penn and Danny Glover have said far worse. People still go see their movies and they are deemed cool by liberal and the college crowd. They go visit Hugo Chavez and discuss policy. Treason??

So did Roseanne Barr this past weekend.  She said tea partiers should be reformed in camps and then beheaded if they couldn't be reformed. Nothing. Crickets. Looney rants come from all sides. Hank's is no different. You just choose to get all hot and bothered with what he said because he doesn't subscribe to your ideology. Let's be honest about it. Where's your outrage at Roseanne Barr?

BTW - I never brought up Bush. I didn't like him either. He set the GOP back 20 years.

Leftists compared Bush to Hitler almost during the entirety of Bush's presidency.  Of course there was no controversy in the MSM because they are the same type of moonbats as the Hollyweird elitists.  Perhaps I'm misreading what you're saying but I don't know how you can claim that this didn't happen...a quick search of teh Googles results in 31 million returns on the topic of "Bush compared to Hitler".

I am in agreeance with you that Hank Jr. did look drunk, but he's entitled to his own opion and he also has to suffer the consequences as you say.  I was getting tired of his MNF theme song anyway.

People who compare Bush, Republicans, or Tea Party members to Hiter should also be released from their jobs if their employer does not want to support people who make such comparisons.

But the point still stands that Ole Hank made a terrible analogy and insinuated that the Obama administration is comparable to the Third Reich.  It's ludicrous.

Obama makes bad economic decisions, so we should insinuate genocide?

And calling him the enemy?

There was so much wrong with Hank's segment, and I'm glad ESPN yanked him from their opening segment.  If anything, ESPN stated that it would not associate with people who much such fallacious analogies.
