After a brilliant fourth season that ended in the death of Rita (which still hurts) Dexter wandered a bit off the beam with his Lumen dalliance in season five.
Season six is off to a good start though.
In this season Dexter examines his religious and philosophical beliefs while eventually drawing down on the cool and understated menace of Edward James Olmos.
Last night Olmos and his protoge (Tom Hanks' bland kid) began their killing spree with a spooky Anarchy-looking stitching that produced a swirl of snakes. And Dexter took up for a girl he crushed on in high school while learning what it might have been like to be popular.
