The Weather in Central AL
« on: April 27, 2011, 02:28:17 PM »
When's this shit supposed to go down?

They let us out of work at noon.  I'm about to take the dog for a walk and maybe grill some steaks in a little while.

Oh by the way, one of my students asked a question after I announced that we'd be getting out at noon.

He said, "What time are we getting out?"
I said, "Noon."
He said (angrily), "Well, what time is that!??!"
I said, "Noon o'clock."
He said (angrily again), "Speak in numbers."
I said, "Twelve."
He said, "Okay."

And then he left to go vote for president.

I suggest you tell him about the classic western "High Noon".  You know the scene where Gary Cooper runs around screaming "When will the train get here?  My clock only goes to 12!"

You meet a man on the Oregon Trail. He tells you his name is Terry. You laugh and tell him: "That's a girl's name!" Terry shoots you. You have died of dissin' Terry.

Sometimes I miss the nasty storms that would roll through North/Central Alabama. The Wiregrass see nothing like it.

Here's hoping that an EF-5 tornado touches down in your living room.

Thanks pal. Not really the tornadoes but some good thunderstorms would be nice. Its like they dissipate right before they get here.

I can remember many a times driving home from work in Trussville and hauling ass up Hwy 75 to get home before some really nasty storms rolled in. Also watching James Spann removing his tie and rolling up his sleeves for a long night of action. He eats that shit up I think.

He was giddy about the tornado in Cullman.  I was watching the video thinking, "Well that's a lot of dead people and lives ruined," and Spann was going "WOWZA!"

I think he missed his calling as a tornado chaser.

Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall said, "Guys don't mind hitting Michael Vick in the open field, but when you see Cam, you have to think about how you're going to tackle him. He's like a big tight end coming at you."

A veteran is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America ' for an amount of 'up to and including my life.' That is Honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it.'

The tornado in Tuscaloosa is fucking nuts.

Went right over Bryant-Denny and some neighborhoods near campus.

The tornado is almost 1 mile wide.  Is that an F5?  Or is it assessed by damage?

I don't think the damage is as bad as reported.  Not surprised.  But definitely thankful.
