SEC play is here: Time to man up

SEC Play has Arrived

It’s here.

The “Man’s League” finally begins.

Ready or not.

And for Auburn’s youth, there are no more dress rehearsals. No more scrimmages. No more simulations.

It’s here. Conference play. The Man’s League. The SEC.

And what better (or worse, depending on how you see Saturday’s game shaking out for Auburn) way to start off league play than against a team that exemplifies what the conference is all about?

Say what you want about Mississippi State. Sure, it hasn’t been the most successful program in the history of the conference. But one thing’s for sure: the Bulldogs will hit you in the face. Multiple times. Very, very hard.

No matter the record, coach or venue, State brings it.

Saturday in Jordan-Hare won’t be any different. If anything, against Auburn — a team they almost beat at home last year in the second game of the season — the Bulldogs will pack an extra punch.

A sad state of affairs in my business

I refuse to put any “so called stories” up on this site regarding Cam Newton and these allegations.  The media is on a witch hunt and have totally crucified this kid, his family and my beloved university.  Without any shred of evidence, he has been marked as guilty.

It is a complete travesty that some of these so called reporters have said “Don’t vote Cam Newton for Heisman”  these “hacks” get off on sensationalism not journalism.  I am attaching one story that is from Phillip Marshall.  He posted this on his blog at Auburn Undercover this is the only piece of journalism that I have read this morning and respected.  War Eagle!

This is sad. And I mean really, really sad.

I have been reading the columns thrown up by writers across the country. It makes me wonder what the business that I have loved for more than four decades is coming to.

Why Auburn will beat Mississippi State

Get the Humorous New Game Shirt from Tiger Rags.

By: Kevin Strickland

A year ago Auburn and Mississippi State waged one of the ugliest football games in the history of the college sport.

Auburn prevailed 3-2 on the strength of a 35-yard Wes Byrum field goal in the second quarter.

It was Chris Todd’s first full game as the starter after sharing duties with Kodi Burns, and Todd was serviceable, hitting 15 of 26 passes for 154 yards.

Ben Tate topped the century mark, rushing for 102 yards.

But the Tigers couldn’t score. While Byrum hit the second quarter field goal, he also missed an 18-yard attempt and flubbed a 38-yarder.

Auburn was a miserable three of 16 on third down conversions. Only two drives consisted of eight plays; nine covered five or fewer.

The Tigers’ last two offensive possessions ended in fumbles.

Preview of the SEC (Part Deux)

So I am a little late on my SEC preview part II, but good things come to those who wait, so I guess you’ll just have to keep waiting.

In my SEC East preview, I said that the SEC Champion and Potential BCS Champion would come from the Eastern Division (if you didn’t read part 1 or have been in a coma for the last few weeks, it’s the Florida Gators).  However, from top to bottom, the tougher division will likely be the Western Division, where all 3 of the top teams have a legitimate shot at facing Florida in the SEC championship game.
