Frazier’s role in Auburn’s offense increasing

Frazier will continue to see his role in the offense grow

Kiehl Frazier took a snap from Reese Dismukes in the third quarter of Auburn’s 30-14 win over Florida Atlantic on Saturday, on a second-and-5 from the Owls’ 14.

The dual-threat quarterback faked a step toward the line, like he was going to bowl his way through the middle.

Just like Cam used to do.

He stepped back to throw instead, firing toward an Auburn receiver in the end zone.

Just like Cam used to do.

Frazier’s throw — into double coverage — fell short of Emory Blake, bringing up a third down and bringing Barrett Trotter back onto the field.

Not quite like Cam. But Frazier’s got time to learn.

“I was so nervous going in,” Frazier said. “I had two options so even though it was double-covered, I had to try to get it in there.

3 Auburn commitments and many more targets show up in ESPNU 150

Spanish Fort center Reese Dismukes

Three of Auburn’s current commitments and several of its targets are more famous today than they were yesterday. They’re official members of the new ESPN 150 rankings, which were released today for the first of many more times before Signing Day.

Auburn’s newest commitment, quarterback Kiehl Frazier (Springdale, Ark.), ranks the highest among Tiger commitments, coming in at No. 39. Among quarterbacks on the list, Frazier is ranked fourth.

Spanish Fort center Reese Dismukes (52) and Marietta guard Thomas O’Reilly (145) also represent Auburn—for now—on the list.

The vast majority of players on this list have yet to commit anywhere and a large number will probably wait until Signing Day. Auburn had a whole bunch of these players on campus this past weekend for Big Cat Weekend II, including DE Ray Drew (3), DE Xzavier Dickson (23), DL Gabe Wright (92), TE Brandon Fulse (93) and RB Mike Blakely (116).

AU FOOTBALL: Big Cat Weekend lands touted quarterback

Welcome to Auburn Mr. Frazier

The second edition of Big Cat Weekend can already be credited for reeling in one of the top recruits in the country.

Or maybe Kiehl Frazier, dual-threat quarterback out of Springdale, Ark., had his mind made up before the festivities kicked off Friday.

Either way, Frazier, the Tigers’ seventh commitment for 2011, was on the Plains this weekend and probably aiding in Auburn’s recruitment of an estimated 35 of the nation’s top prospects.

Frazier, a 6-foot-3, 215-pound athlete, is ranked No. 4 among the nation’s quarterbacks, according to Scout.com. He had offers from most of the nation’s top programs, including Notre Dame, Florida, Michigan and in-state Arkansas.

Frazier, who threw for 3,817 yards and 48 touchdowns, plays his high school ball at Shiloh Christian High. Auburn offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn was the head coach there from 1996-2000.
