Mike Dyer Suspended for Bowl Game

Why Mike...Why?

Multiple media outlets are claiming that All-SEC RB Michael Dyer will not be participating in the Chick-fil-A Bowl game on December 31.  Nothing has been reported as to the reasons why Dyer wont be eligible.

Rumors have it everywhere from grades to failed drug tests.  In the end does it really matter why he won’t be playing. What matters is that one of the few stars on this team won’t be eligible to play.

Which leads me to ask what is going on with this team?   Where is the leadership?

Has our quest for the National Championship clouded our judgment in taking people of character? Auburn Men? I’m not saying that Dyer isn’t an Auburn man, I am simply stating with all that has happened over the past year another suspension leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

Thoughts Week 11 – Aww f@#$ It!

Lee Corso cursing on live TV somehow exemplify's Auburn's Season this year.

Lee Corso set the tone.

Auburn…

- Auburn hasn’t played this season.  I didn’t go to any games, so I can’t be sure that what I’ve seen on TV wasn’t some fancy PIXAR presentation.

- I saw Auburn play four games last year.  I know Cam Newton exists.  Whether or not he’s a cyborg is a different topic.

- Because Auburn isn’t playing this season, the Iron Bowl must not be happening next week.

College Football…

- Robert Griffin III is the best player in college football.  Baylor?  BAYLOR?  I mean, come on.  We talkin’ bout Baylor.  Baylor.

- Trent Richardson is going to win the Heisman.

- Alabama is going to have the easiest path to the BCSCG.

- LSU may or may not beat Arkansas and Georgia.

Student to face teacher when Clemson-Auburn kickoff

Gus Malzahn taught Clemson's Offensive Cordinator Chad Morris, but the Teacher always knows more than the young Grasshopper.

Gus Malzahn feels like Dabo Swinney owes him something this weekend.

It’s the least the Clemson head coach can do for Malzahn, seeing as how he served as the chief talent scout for Swinney’s new offensive coordinator, Chad Morris.

Swinney said Malzahn texted him Monday telling him that reward should amount to spotting him a touchdown this weekend.

“Before the national championship game, (Swinney) called me about four or five times during that week. We definitely talked about Chad,” Malzahn said. “(Swinney’s) a great guy.”

Morris, in his first year with the Tigers, and Malzahn — though they’ll be on opposite sidelines this weekend — have been close collaborators since 2003, when both were but high school coaches.

They’ve both done quite well for themselves since then.

Countdown to Football

51 Days

What’s changed about college football?

The following quarterbacks have hit the 2,000 yards passing/1,000 yards rushing in a season.  They are the only ones in history:

Cam Newton
Colin Kaepernick
Joe Webb
Dwight Dasher
Dan LeFevour
Vince Young
Brad Smith
Woodrow Dantzler

The more interesting fact?  Dantzler was the first to do so, and Dantzler played in the year 2001.

From 2001-2010, eight players have accumulated enough yards through the ground and the air to make this list.

Three of them (Kaepernick, Webb, Smith) did it twice.

From 1890-2000?  Zero players achieved this mark.

Obviously for a long time, seasons were shorter.  Would Cam Newton have hit the mark only playing 10 games?

Possibly not.

Nonetheless, quarterbacks are lighting up the statistics with exciting dual threat ability the likes we have never seen.
