Stevens, Ziemba named to Watch Lists

Two of Auburn’s top seniors were named to Watch Lists on Monday for two of the nation’s top individual awards.

Offensive lineman Lee Ziemba was named to the Outland Trophy watch list while linebacker Craig Stevens received early recognition from those behind the Bronko

The Nagurski Trophy is presented annually to the nation’s top defensive player, while the Outland Trophy goes to the nation’s top interior lineman on offense or defense.

Stevens emerged as Auburn’s most reliable linebacker in 2009, claiming co-defensive MVP awards after finishing with 95 tackles (55 solo, 40 assists), including eight tackles for loss and 2.5 quarterback sacks. He has started 26 consecutive games dating back to the 2007 season and has 190 tackles during his career (109 solo, 81 assists), including 9.5 tackles for 40 yards in losses. He has collected at least six tackles in a game 16 times during his career.

There aren’t many stats for Ziemba because, well, he’s an offensive lineman. He has, however, started every game since arriving in 2007 for a streak of 38 consecutive starts. If he starts every game during the 2010 regular season, he will break the Auburn school record for consecutive starts, which is currently held by Will Herring with 49 straight from 2003-06.
