It's still your generation. And Progressivism actually does work in State and local elections, but I agree it does not work on a federal level.
Progressivism does not work in a free-market, capitalist society. You can nearly guarantee equality of opportunity but you can't successfully engineer equality of outcome and still enjoy the same Freedom and Liberty that we have (such as it is with the Statists in the White House and Congress). Even the great Theodore Roosevelt himself could not make Progressivism work and it was, of course, and epic failure in his pathetic bid as a third party candidate.
Now if you favor Progressivism on a more local level you're in good company with Representatives Dennis Kucinich, Bernie Saunders, and our own John Lewis from Georgia's 5th District...left-wingnuts all. I could also throw in Cynthia McKinney too for good measure. (I'm reminded of the bar scene from Star Wars for some reason.)
And, unlike most of the self-important, entitlement minded Baby Boomer generation my generation actually learned something from the Greatest Generation about the rewards of hard work and making a living WITHOUT the need of the nanny-state, big brother government that your generation appears to need in order to wipe their own noses.
