Dreaming
« on: February 19, 2012, 08:59:18 AM »
Had a dream about Auburn football.

Don't know who we were playing but #13 took the ball on a downhill toss, broke through the line, dodged a safety and went about 50 yards for a touchdown.

At the time AU had scored 86 points.  His TD made it 92.

This from the announcers while he was running.

"#1: That's Auburn's number three tailback.  The Tigers are doing this with their third level reserves.

#2: It's amazing what kind of depth this team has. There's very little dropoff from the starters to the third string guys.

1: That score gives Auburn 92 points on the night.  There's still plenty of time left on the clock, can they break 100?

2: I don't know, but do you think the basketball team could score this much? (laughter in the booth).

1: What's impressive is the way they're attacking the front lines.

2: When was the last time you saw Auburn just come out and overpower the other team?  Nothing fancy, no trickery. They're just lining up and running over people.  Sweeps, powers, reads.  It's been a long time since Auburn played this kind of football.

And then my dream switched to hiding from Roman soldiers in a desert.  So it probably meant nothing.

I had a dream about a wheelchair bound kid with CP aspiring to be a rockstar, and my principal assigned me the task of making it happen.

I would have preferred your dream.

My guess is you are describing the upcoming Spring Game using the old scoring system.
The Romans probably signify Bams present in any space you might want to occupy.

Try this on for size:
Was up 22 hours yesterday...finalized by a late meal out and a Milk Stout before closing my eyes.
Dreamed of an old girlfriend whose cat crawled up behind the water heater and died. (maintenance found it a week later) She called me up and wanted me see me shortly thereafter...then the dream switched to spiders.
I then awakened to thoughts of Hessians. I've never had a run-in with mercenaries but something tells me to be on the ready. I could offer more but it would only confuse the obvious connection of the events.

I have actually had a few "fortelling" dreams.  Thought you weren't superstitious.  I got a resounding "meh" when I told of my buying of Malzahn's book and being charged $19.57 back in 2009.

I once had a dream. That I was eating a peanut butter and tuna fish sandwich. And, let me tell you something it was delicious. So the next day, I decided to make that sandwich. And in real life it is disgusting.

I had a dream Nicholas Cage still made good movies.

I realized it was a dream in a dream.

Nicholas Cage has never made a good movie.

Raising Arizona.

Good in spite of Cage's performance but not because of it.

You must be H.I., McDonough.

It's the one role that Cage has nailed.

You're now lumped with Kaos in the "WTF is wrong with your tastes?" category.

Good in spite of Cage's performance but not because of it.

Disagree wholeheartedly.

That was the perfect marriage of actor and role.  In fact every role in that film was perfectly cast (except perhaps for Nathan Arizona's wife).

Cage made it work.  He was great.

I also enjoyed his work in Valley Girl.

I could tolerate him in Drive Angry and The Rock.

The rest of his work?   :puke:

He ruined Leaving Las Vegas.

Say that reminds me, how'd you get that kid so darn fast? Me and Dot went in to adopt on account a' somethin' went wrong with my semen, and they said we had to wait five years for a healthy white baby. I said, "Healthy white baby? Five years? What else you got?" Said they got two Koreans and a negra born with his heart on the outside. It's a crazy world.

Agree with all of this. I expected to hate Drive Angry, but then liked it when I actually saw it and realized it was basically a self-parody. It seemed like an over-the-top ridiculous, bad-action movie in the vein of Fast & Furious, because it was meant to be exactly that. As long as the ridiculousness is self-aware, satirical, and ironic like that movie was, I'm all for it.

These may be less popular choices, but I also enjoyed The Weather Man and Adaptation. I seem to remember liking him in Bringing Out the Dead too, but I can't really remember for sure.
