You always hear so much about the Colt's zone run scheme, and how it's practially all they do. (And they do make a science out of the zone run) And I've heard some say that the inside trap play won't work in the NFL because the DTs/NGs are too quick. Clearly this play was designed to trap the Saint's 3 tech, #69 Anthony Hargrove. He is light by NFL standards at 6-3/272 according to the Saints roster. However, there's so much more going on here too. Notice how Dallas Clark and and the Colt's FB run off the SAM and CB that are in the box. They didn't throw a block, yet it was just as effective. Surely the Colt's had to know they were going to get man coverage to do this, or had it as a check if they got man coverage out of this alignment, otherwise they had a middle trap called vs a 9 man front! And, of course, I have no doubt that it set up a PA pass for later. Really pretty to watch! Football simplicity! Folks this play is Football 101. No, it's not even 101. It's kindergarten football. This play is like one of the first plays you'd learn to run in Pee Wee or Pop Warner Football.

I'm very glad you explained the play so well in your post.
Because the video is gone.

Don't know why the link that worked yesterday didn't today. I fixed it though. IF you care to watch it, it should be working.
You can see it here too (It starts at the :50 mark. The first play in this highlight shows their inside zone run)
