Auburn!!!! Haha Yeah, Suck on that bammers!!!!!!!!
The U.S. Space & Rocket Center is once again the top tourist attraction in the state among those who charge admission.
The Space & Rocket Center reported 470,000 visitors last year, better than the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, the Birmingham Zoo and the USS Battleship Park in Mobile.
"This speaks directly to the perseverance and dedication of our employees," said Larry Capps, the Space & Rocket Center's CEO. "Our people strive to make certain everyone who comes here has a positive experience whether they're museum guests, in one of our camp programs or a part of one of the many night functions we do, and that makes people want to come back."
Capps expects the attendance to rise in 2010, as the Center is working to bring in several traveling exhibits normally only seen in larger cities, including "Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination," which opens to the public on June 24.
He also expects an increase in Space CampĀ® attendance, due to the fact the program will see its first graduate fly in space as Dottie Metcalf-Lindenburger's shuttle mission departs next month.
Other Huntsville attractions that made it into the top ten are the Huntsville Botanical Gardens (sixth) and Early Works Museum (ninth).
Birmingham's Botanical Gardens was the state's top free attraction, Mobile's Mardi Gras was the most attended event, Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn was the most attended sports venue, and Decatur's Point Mallard Park was the top seasonal attraction.

If anyone's interested in the official attendance records from the box offices, here ya go. Make from it what you will.
Alabama homegames
Fla. International - 92,012
North Texas - 92,012
Arkansas - 92,012
South Carolina - 92,012
Tennessee - 92,012
LSU - 92,012
UTC - 92,012
Total: 644,084
Auburn Homegames *with extra game:
Louisiana Tech - 81,143
Mississippi State - 85,269
West Virginia - 87,451
Ball State - 83,118
Kentucky - 86,217
Ole Miss - 84,756
Furman - 81,506
Alabama - 87,451
Total: 676,911
Either way I think this article is TOTALLY off in its numbers. By this estimation Jordan-Hare Stadium should have been in first place by a couple hundred thousand visitors.

WoooHooooo!!! Can you say Stadium Expansion?!?! Auburn Rules, SPuat Drools.
Btw, that *extra game* was because y'all chose to use one of your home games for the Wall Marks Kickoff Classic against VT. Looks like that bit y'all in the end....Are they going to showcase the Attendance Trophy at the local Wall Marks too? Man, I hope so.

What does the reason have to do with anything? Not sure the reason is relevant to the attendance numbers. I guess it is if you want it to.

It's been hard. I've considered suicide a few times, but was able to back down after watching highlights of the Heisman trophy winner running wild during a national championship season.
Damn that VT game really hurt.

Yeah, but were you the most attended sports venue in the state of Alabama throughout the year 2009?
That's what I thought.

Yes. 2009 includes A-day, no? That alone makes up for Auburn having an extra game, despite Auburn also having a spring game. Unless there was some other event at JHS the box office numbers in no way agree with this article. Neither JHS nor BDS box office numbers agree with this article for that matter.

I take it you skipped one game's highlights.

I take it you skipped one game's highlights.
Some games only need a single highlight.
In case you didn't know, I was talking about the one where Cody lines up on offense and the ginger kid himself rolls out for a 3rd down, lead changing and eventual game winning Roy Upchurch touchdown that caused Coach Gene Chizik to say "OH SHIT!" as soon as the ball was snapped.
Good luck thinking we skip over that highlight.

Allbarn does have a spring game and oddly enough it is called Allbarn's A-day game.

I'm aware that they do. They only had 20,000 (give or take) at A(ubarn)-day and we had 75,000 (give or take) at A(labama)-day. That comfortably covers the regular season deficit that swayed in Auburn's favor because of the extra game.
So, Alabama had more people show up at BDS in 2009 with less opportunities to show up. National Championship No. 14!

You posted this showing the attendance totals and now you want to argue against it? Bye, polar.

Nah, not on the X.

Gays in the military.
Is that the calling of the "nip"?

Does that poll include a count for the greatest number of 78' Camaros in one parking lot?

Speaking of which, when is AWK going to call the taint? Too soon?

Way too soon. Don't pre-mature taint call, it has to see it's shadow on its own. O-N-E at a TIME. :wartim:

Do you take these reading comprehension skills to community college every day?

The "every game is a sellout" lie is growing old.
I know better. Every game was not a sellout.

Presented with equally stupid posts by Prowler and a bammer, you attacked the bammer.
That's the K I used to know.

If you have a better way of getting the number of purchased tickets I'm all ears. I have box office numbers, what better numbers do you say I should follow?

Prowler, this is one of those times you're going to have to use more than your toes.

Just some useless info to contribute to the thread. Yes - its March, I'm bored.
Bama and Auburn ranked #2 and #8 respectively in 2009 Spring Game attendance.
Bama's 2009 A Day = 84,050
Auburn's 2009 A Day = 45,381 => This was actually the biggest A Day ever at AU. The previous high was 38K.
Others' Spring Games:
1. Ohio State 95,722
3. Nebraska 77,670
4. Penn State 76,500
5. Florida 65,000
6. Tennessee 51,488
7. Michigan 50,000
9. Texas 44,000
10. Georgia 42,458
11. Virginia Tech 41,000
12. Florida State 36,000
13. Mississippi State 31,606
14. Notre Dame 31,104
15. LSU 30,532
Also something interesting: Bama's A Day was FREE and was on ESPN, which makes it a very attractive draw. Other schools who also had FREE admission for Spring Games were: Penn St, Michigan, Texas, Georgia, VT, FSU and Miss St
So don't be so quick to put AU down for 45K at A Day Bham. It wasn't what Bama's was, but it was still pretty good in the big picture. Yeah thats right - Spring Game attendance smack talk. Get you some bitches.
