Title: Does anyone take the time to learn Auburn's name?
Post by: Birmingham on March 06, 2010, 07:38:05 PM
I'm sure some may side with Gentry and think this was intentional, which I don't think it was.  I also don't care if it was.  Recruits, players, coaches, rivals... do any of them know the name of that school over there.

Fuck Saban. That's his version of "that cow college up the road".

You bet your ass it was intentional, and I bet the mullets lost their minds cheering rabidly when he said it.

Yup, in acceptance of the ODK Sportsmanship Trophy, leave it up to little nicky to show his clASS.

Saban draws laughs by erring on Auburn name

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- So much for Alabama coach Nick Saban's attempt at praising Auburn.

Saban accepted a trophy for winning the Iron Bowl during halftime of Saturday's Alabama-Auburn basketball game. After thanking the fans at Coleman Coliseum, the football coach expressed his respect for "the University of Auburn."

The school's name is Auburn University.

That incorrect reference drew chuckles from some Tide fans followed by much louder boos for the intended sentiment for their top rival.

Alabama came from behind to beat the Tigers for the second straight time this past season, earning the Foy-ODK Trophy. The Tide went on to finish 14-0 and win the national championship.

Saban promised it was "not the end but the beginning" for his program.

Alabama coach Nick Saban holds up two fingers to acknowledge the number of consecutive victories the Crimson Tide now has in football over the Auburn Tigers, its rival. (The Birmingham News / Mark Almond)

But wait! I thought Tubs holding up 6 fingers was the absolute least classy thing a coach could possibly do???

Saban would never do such a thing if the shoe were on the other foot!

Don't worry, it didn't take him nearly that long to get cocky. It only took stringing two wins together for him to start doing the exact same fucking thing.

Let's hear our resident bammers explain why this is different. RWS, Birmingham?

Token, we don't want to hear a measured, sane, and logical response from you.

Find one time where I have ever said anything negative about CTT for holding up any fingers. I never had a problem with it. I never had a problem with him holding up 7 fingers before the '08 Iron Bowl either.

Nah man, little nicky is holding up the Peace sign, because he sees the Auburn Limo Tanks rollin' straight for his midget ass.  He knows that Auburn is coming with a lot more firepower than they had last year and that "The Family" is bringing reinforcements again this year.
