AUBURN, Ala. — Two Auburn football players have been arrested for driving under the influence in the last month, Auburn police Capt. Tom Stofer confirmed Monday.

Fullbacks John Douglas and Jason King have both been arrested and charged with a DUI in separate incidents since Dec. 5. Both are awaiting court dates in Auburn Municipal Court.

Douglas, 20, is a scholarship sophomore from Augusta, Ga. King, 21, is a walk-on junior from Newnan, Ga.

Douglas was pulled over in a blue 2002 Jeep Cherokee at 12:57 on Dec. 5 at the intersection of West Longleaf Drive and Downs Way on the south side of Auburn, according to a police report.

King was pulled over in a white 2002 Honda Accord at 1:38 a.m. Saturday morning near the intersection of South Gay Street and East Thach Avenue near downtown.

King’s court date is set for Feb. 18, Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones told the Opelika-Auburn News. Douglas’ is March 11.

Douglas played in 11 games this year but sat out the Alabama game. He battled injuries all season.

King played in 10 games this season, mostly on special teams. He made three tackles.

Both are considered candidates to get more playing time in the absence of H-back Eric Smith, who was ruled academically ineligible for the Outback Bowl.

Head coach Gene Chizik is expected to meet with reporters after practice today.
Interesting that even though these two guys are no-names, and one is a walk-on, that this has flown under the radar for 3 weeks. I remember a few years back an Alabama walk-on QB and another walk-on was arrested for I think PI and it was all over the media the next day. I wonder what else gets kept quiet? You know good and well if we were talking about two Alabama players arrests that have been kept quiet for 3 weeks, you guys would be dragging the tin foil hats out.

John Douglas?  No way.  I always thought he was an upstanding citizen especially after he snatched women's purses from underneath the stands in section 16.

Congratulations to "our" beatwriter Evan Woodberry for his diligence in ferreting out these two transgressions and making sure they were brougt to light.

Wut?

During halftimes, players who are dressed out but don't really do anything in the game are told to wait outside the locker room.  Douglas would often steal popcorn, drinks, and occasionally, grab a purse and fish around for a few dollar bills.

Of course, for Evan Woodberry who is probably searching these message boards for material, I'm making all of this up.  I'm trying to establish my e-cred.

Not Auburn's fault the media is so infatuated with Alabama that little shit Auburn does doesn't get noticed. It doesn't work both ways shit head. Auburn's "small" accomplishments get drowned out with all the noise too.

However,it doesn't matter if Saban farts at a press conference, it will get coverage non-stop. So of course, if Alabama guys would have done this, the media would be all over it...

Oh yeah, fuck Woodberry...

Whatever happend to JPW's DUI?  Did Terry S. have to pick him for carpool to practice or did he ride w/ DJ Hall?

I think Jimmy J was giving him a lift to the athletic complex.

Two guys drove drunk and got popped.  Stupid, stupid, stupid on so many levels.  Suspend em' and run em' til they puke on each other.  As far as the media coverage, I'm actually quite surprised it has just now come out. It has seemed to me that every little tidbit of negative press that could be reported on Auburn, has been front and center.

By the time spring practice begins, these 2 young men should be able to tell anyone that asks exactly how many steps are in Jordan-Hare.
