NEW YORK -- The Atlanta Braves announced Bobby Cox will retire as manager after the 2010 season.

The team says Cox agreed to a one-year contract extension for 2010, then will start a five-year consulting agreement to advise the team in baseball operations.

Cox managed the Braves from 1978 to 1981, switched to manage the Toronto Blue Jays from 1982 to 1985, then returned to manage Atlanta in 1990.

I go through this every year.  I'm hoping that there is finality to this decision, which I fear there will be.  When they hold his retirement ceremony at Turner Field, I will be there for the tailgate beforehand with a brown bag full of hard liquor...and will be in the stadium during with a box full of kleenex (draw your own conclusions here).

Mark my words now...you heard it here first....

Terry Pendleton will succeed him as manager.

Consulting still afterwards?  I'm down with that.  To have him and Scheururueerurholz still around is a good thing, even if they are giving their advice from the shadows.

Terry Pendleton is a shitty Batting Coach.  Just what the Braves need.   :suicide:

Hate, hate, hate.

Shitty and in 6th place.  Yeah, OK.

And he basically led the team as a player during the Braves' run in the 90's.  His leadership potential can't be questioned.

6 out of 16, in the arguably weaker National League.  He's got them at 16 out of 30 for the entire MLB.  That's not setting the world on fire, my friend.

Whatever, go knock your junk around and think about his pouty lips around your Greek cock.  Makes no difference to me.

Arguably?  It is weaker, no doubt about it.  But he's still up there.  And you can't doubt that he's an inspiring leader.

And TP is nowhere close to blowjob status....yet.

I hope he brings Sid Bream in as baserunning coach.

And Ron Gant as strength and conditioning coach.

And Otis Nixon as director of playa personnel development

And Juan Berenger at team nutrionist

And Denny Neagle as team choo-choo sound guy

I'm in wait and see mode for 2010.

But I must admit, that would be one hell of a staff to play ball for.

If Sid won't come back, maybe Lonnie Smith will.

I remain pissed at him for losing Game Seven of the Series against the Twins when he got faked out and held up instead of scoring.

I also still hate Kent Hrbeck for grabbing Gant at first base.
