Sorry, I think you were posting at the same time I was....I deleted mine. He was shot twice at Rivermont Apartments in Tuscaloosa, and is being treated at a local hospital. No further word on his condition.

Tough couple of months for UAT players, first one gets beat on so bad by his girlfriend that he has to fight back and another gets shot.

Initial reports were that he was shot twice, but he was only shot once in the arm. Apparently he and his girlfriend pulled up in a car, and somebody was going to rob the girl not realizing that Deaderick was in the car as well. Deaderick got out to defend her, and he got shot. At that point, the attacker fled and Deaderick went upstairs to a second floor apartment. When EMS got there, he came back down with his arm wrapped and was able to put himself on the stretcher. His injuries are considered non-life threatening.

That's what I was waiting for.

Just got word that he headbutted his way through the back of the ambulance.

Also, Saban has boldly decided to retroactively punish him for what transpired two years ago. He will be sitting out the VT game.

Thats nice that you were waiting on that to be a total piece of shit, Chizad. Way to go. I can't wait until an AU player gets hurt this season. I don't want to hear you bitch and cry when I rip on him.

Wah wah. Welcome to the X.

The AL.com comments section is flooded with comments about how outraged they are that someone would do this to an innocent young man at such an important time in his life, blah blah. I'll say it, Brandon Deaderick is a thug. Plain & simple. If he were at Auburn, he would have been off the team years ago after he headbutted his way through the back of a cop car to escape police custody. Him getting shot is no more surprising than 50 Cent getting shot.

Also, the AL.com comments are flooded with conspiracies about how Auburn is behind this. "There's no way it's coincidence that our kicker gets attacked, AND our poor innocent DE gets shot in the same offseason!".

If anything is fishy about this, it's the way Deaderick is presented as a superhero just saving the day. These Alabama players are always protecting their girlfriends, or trying to break up a fight when shit goes down.

I thought him highlighting the portion about it being "non-life threatening" implied he was glad the kid  was not hurt worse.

That being said the shit about headbutting the window out of the ambulance was pretty fucking funny.

What? Planning on shooting an Auburn player?

By the way, also on AL.com, there were bammers drawing comparisons to the girl who was brutally raped and murdered in Auburn.

WTF? He got shot in the arm, dude. He's 100% fine. They're talking about how he may actually be able to play Saturday.

I'm sorry, but I'm really sick and tired of the "unfortunate saint" stories that come out of Bama players incidents.

Maybe this one is true, but there are so many of them that I just don't believe it any longer.

Defending his girlfriend's honor?  Isn't this the same hooligan that headbutted or kicked his way out of a police car?  Thank God this modern-day Batman was there to save the day and thwart another criminal act.

Whatever.

If the Alabama boosters wouldn't buy these kids' "girlfriends" whom they live with BMW's, and just stick to buying them simpler more modest cars, these kids would be safer.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Alabama defensive lineman Brandon Deaderick was hospitalized in good condition Tuesday after being shot in the arm during an apparent robbery attempt at an off-campus apartment complex.

Brad Fisher, a spokesman for DCH Regional Medical Center, said the 6-foot-4, 306-pound defensive end from Elizabethtown, Ky., was in a regular room and likely would be released within a day.

"It's not life threatening," said Fisher. The bullet missed vital areas, he said.

Police Chief Steve Anderson told the Tuscaloosa News the player suffered a gunshot wound to the forearm. The player was in an apartment parking lot about 10 p.m. Monday when he was approached by a man wearing dark clothes, a dark ball cap and a blue bandanna over his face, the chief said.

Deaderick did not know the man, who pointed a gun and said "Give it up," Anderson said. When Deaderick refused, the assailant fired the gun, striking the player in the arm, the chief said. Police were searching for the shooter.

Deaderick started all 14 games last season as a junior. He made 36 tackles last season and was second on the team with four quarterback sacks.

Here is an update.....

Quote
TUSCALOOSA | University of Alabama defensive lineman Brandon Deaderick remained hospitalized this morning, but hospital officials expect him to be released sometime today.

But law enforcement agents are still seeking help finding the robber who shot Deaderick in a Rice Mine Road apartment complex late Monday night, a shot that pierced his forearm and ricocheted into his hip.

He was taken by ambulance to DCH Regional Medical Center, where he remained this morning in good condition, said hospital spokesman Brad Fisher.

Tuscaloosa Police Chief Steve Anderson is asking anyone with information to contact the Tuscaloosa Police Department, Crime Stoppers or the Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit.

“[The suspect] is still a big question mark,” Anderson said.

The chief did say he wanted to put to rest a rumor that was circulating earlier this morning.

The notion that detectives are skeptical of Deaderick’s story is not true, Anderson said.

“We have no reason not to believe that what happened is the absolute truth,” he said, adding that he spoke with Deaderick briefly at the hospital following the shooting and had no reason to doubt Deaderick’s story.

Deaderick told police that he and a female companion arrived in the parking lot of Rivermont Apartments about 10 p.m. when he was approached by a man wearing dark clothes, a dark ball cap and a blue bandanna over his face.

He did not know the robber, who pointed a gun and said “Give it up,” authorities have said.

When he refused, the assailant fired the gun, sending the bullet into his arm and hip.

Police searched for the shooter in the Rice Mine Road area into the night, and located one man near Cypress Inn restaurant just before midnight.

Anderson said that suspect was taken into custody on outstanding warrants from the Tuscaloosa Police Department and Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, but that he was not connected to the Deaderick shooting.

“He was just an individual who happened to be in the area,” Anderson said.

Deaderick, a 6-foot-4, 306-pound defensive end from Elizabethtown, Ky., started all 14 games last season as a junior and was Alabama’s top returning pass rusher. He made 36 total tackles last season and was second on the team with four quarterback sacks and tied for the lead in quarterback hurries with seven. He won the team’s Up-Front Award as the outstanding lineman on defense.

As a sophomore, Deaderick played in all 13 games with seven starts.
Needless to say, he won't be playing Saturday.

Saint Deaddick wasn't out fighting crime.  He's not a mild mannered reporter in his spare time and a ruthless vigalante striking a blow for justice when the sun goes down.

I'm saying I don't believe for one tiny second his bullshit "dude in dark clothes and a hat just shot the fuck out of me when I didn't give it up" story.

Damn, RWS should know this.  Criminals are generally pussies at heart.  A guy doing a random smash and grab isn't going to start blasting away the second you tell him "no"  That's ridiculous.  Absolutely ridiculous.

The Tuscaloosa PD are a bunch of doughnut eating circle jerkers anyway.  They couldn't find their own ass with a map and a flashlight.  If they believe this story, you know it's bullshit.
