It's the arrogance that's oozing out of your cesspool. That's what's funny. You had better be glad that SPuat "lost" the records previous to '05.

Something along the lines of we didn't do nothin'?

The only thing that Alabama is appealing is the vacation of wins. They are not denying that rules were broken at all, they are simply saying that the vacation of wins penalty is not consistant with penalties given to other schools that had similar textbook violations, even those that were considered repeat offenders. They give some pretty good precedent, actually. I wasn't all that excited at the thought of them filing an appeal, but after reading that, I don't see how the NCAA doesn't give those wins back. They even cite Oklahoma who played ineligible players who were being paid by a booster's car dealership for work they did not perform. The wins were originally vacated, however, the NCAA gave the wins back when Oklahoma appealed.

So basically - we cheated, we did it, we admit it, but this non-punishment is too harsh and besides you let everyone else get away with it so we should too.
bammer logic. You guys should be on your knees honking the NCAA bobo and slobbering how grateful you are that this was ALL the punishment you got for a violation which occurred during an ongoing probationary period... dumb fucks.

It would be one thing if it was something that went all the way up to the coaches, administrators, high ranking members of the AD, involved boosters, etc. However, it was a bunch of kids simply trying to cheat the school out of some books. Now, worse happens with Ball State, Weber State, etc., and who gives a shit. But if it happens at Alabama? You guys are all up in arms. I know you want to paint it to be so much more worse than that, but thats all the NCAA found it to be as well. Unless you have some sort of better information than NCAA investigators snooping around the AD offices for months. Didn't think so. Get back in the kitchen.

Oooh. You really got me with that rapier wit... :taunt:
The point is not what happened or who did it. The point is that bammer was told "One more fuckup of any kind whatsoever and that is it, we mean it this time!!!" And then the inevitable fuck up occurs and.... crickets. And you stupid motherfuckers are appealing the crickets instead of breathing a sigh of relief.

And if the "inevitable" fuck up had to do with boosters paying players or buying them cars, coaches paying players, coaches knowing about boosters paying players, corruption, etc, the NCAA would have fucked us up in a heartbeat. In that case, a sigh of relief definitely would have been in order had we gotten the same penalty for something like that. AU fans are the ones that pumped this book thing up WAY more than it really was, and you guys pumped yourselves up to think the penalties would be horrendous. We were telling you the whole time that this was a fairly minor thing relative to how the NCAA saw it, and I think the penalties showed that as well. Don't get all pissed off at us because the penalties didn't live up to AU fans' expectations of crippling Alabama. On an NCAA scale of bad shit that can happen, this was pretty low on the charts. If you go by what what Alabama said happened, and then that the NCAA agreed with the university on its version of what happened and how, you would find it wasn't as bad of a picture as some posters on AU boards make it out to be.
-
You're right wench, we've been mad as hell about this ever since they gave us their decision. We couldn't believe how harsh it was. We didn't collectively let out a sigh of relief when we found out it was only probation and some wins. You're exactly right and you don't need to get your ass back in the kitchen at all. You don't need to make my damn dinner and make it right and I definitely am not going to show you the back of my hand if my food is cold.
The fact is the punishment, while in your eyes it may be light, isn't consistent. I don't expect you to understand. Don't expect me to care that you don't understand.

I love how you bammers keep saying...it wasn't as bad as the Auburn fans wanted it to be, like everyone with a brain thought that the NCAA was gonna drop the hammer on y'alls head because of textbooks. Geez bammers, how's that little brother syndrome working out for ya? All I'm saying is, ya better be glad that those records, you know the ones prior to '05, were lost.
Also, rws, what would you say if the NCAA says, okay we'll give you your wins back for the '06 & '07 seasons....but, we're going to take a couple scholarships away, this year and the next. I mean, some of your players are already on pins and needles worrying if they'll be one of the next players to get the Ax or be made to go on Greyshirt, Medical Redshirt, or have their scholarship taken away...even though they started last year.

Of all the things you "know", apparently you don't "know" that the NCAA cannot add on additional penalties or substitute penalties after the COI has ruled, regardless of appeal.

Absolutely hilarious that you talk to him like he is restricted to things such as facts.

Tell me something, oh so wise Alabama law graduates.
What penalties would be consistent with the infractions to which your school was found guilty? Relative to indubitably irrefutable corresponding lackadaisical hyperbole of the cognizant source of guilty parties.

It appears that you're trying to sound intelligent. Worked on me.

Probably loss of scholarships, similar to Ball State. But IMO, that would be even harsher than taking away the 21 games.

Ball State was charged with lack of institutional control, which is a more serious charge than Alabama.

So, then what penalty should Alabama receive?
Although the first time I asked had some humor, I was completely serious.
Why is Alabama appealing the ruling? Because the penalty doesn't punish the crime? What penalty would they rather have?

You have to realize that Alabama doesn't think that the vacated wins are a bad punishment in regards to fitting the "crime". They think vacated wins are a bad punishment for a crime where a punishment was already given, i.e. suspending the players. That plus the inconsistency of how they've dealt with similar, if not more severe cases, is means for an appeal.
I don't see anything wrong with this appeal, after reading the actual document I honestly think they will receive the vacated wins back.

They agree with the extension of probation and monetary fines. Thats the extent of what has been done to other school in a similar, or worse situation than Alabama. Personally, it doesn't affect me one way or another. But it did affect some kids who had stats wiped out due to all of this, and they weren't even part of it. I can understand that part of wanting to appeal. The NCAA has actually punished other schools whose textbook scandals were covered up, or otherwise involved different forms of corruption, less than Alabama was punished. Even when dealing with a school in the repeat violator window. I'm not saying that to present a poor, mistreated Alabama scenario. I've said numerous times I have no issues with taking my medicine. Just make it consistant. If you read all 29 pages, I think you would see why I think Alabama will win the appeal.
