I don't know if any of you folk followed or even cared that our fucked up House of Representatives under the botox-enhanced watchful eyes of Pelosi barely passed the "Cap and Trade" Energy Bill this past Friday. I will be quick to point out that were it not for eight Republicans jumping ship this Bill would not have passed at all. These traitors to the Party should be remembered.
Those of you who are not aware of what "Cap and Trade" even is should probably look it up because if it passes the Senate it will cost you and your family somewhere between $400.00 and $3,000.00 plus additional dollars per year to cover energy taxes that will be passed on to you directly from your energy supplier (and if you live in the Southeast most likely your energy supplier burns coal to make energy...this bill is an onerous burden on regions like ours which uses coal for power generation more than other areas of the nation). This Bill will supposedly usher in 'jobs, jobs, jobs, jobs' to quote from Pelosi...what she didn't say is that it would be jobs for the Chi-comms and Indians because this damn travesty will be a massive burden on manufacturing in this nation so much so that they will probably migrate elsewhere for manufacturing. "Jobs, jobs, jobs, jobs" lost...in the name of a fantasy that is anthropogenic global warming.
The ONE, of course, lied again saying that there would be no taxes for those whose income is under $250K, this will be another tax burden passed through to all of us producers; and he will sign it if it passes the Senate.
I'm getting closer to going the route of "John Galt".

I've been keeping a close eye on this piece of legislation. I know that all of our politicians loved the fact that MJ and FF died this week, because the attention of the dumb masses has strayed from this 'Obomination' of a bill, and if the media circus sticks around the funerals long enough, they may be able to ram Gubment Healthcare down our throats as well.
I am with you on going "John Galt" (I'm actually reading Atlas Shrugged right now, Part II, Chapter 2 to be exact). I asked my wife last week which country she wanted to move to, because if what I've seen in the last 6 months is what I have to raise my soon-to-be daughter in, then I'd prefer not have any part of it. I'd much rather move a place where hard work is rewarded and I can actually keep the money I make and keep the government out of my life. Unfortunately, I think my options are limited.

It's great to see that someone else is keeping up with the shit going on in DC. I still can't believe that the "Cap and Tax" bill passed. That bitch Pelosi had the unmitigated gall to say "jobs, jobs, jobs, jobs" when passing that damn thing. House Minority Leader John Boehner gave the best speech I've heard in ages from any politician against it pointing out that none of them had time to even read what the fuck they were voting on! Well, with Nationalized Healthcare coming next we are all going to be fucked. And, as you wrote, the Sheeple were distracted with Michael Jackson while the the largest tax increase in U. S. history was passed. Madness.
I'm reading Mark Levin's "Liberty and Tyranny" right now but I'll be re-reading "Atlas Shrugged" again right after I finish it. Rand's book is more relevant now than it has ever been. You ought to read Levin's book too, BTW. Sani recommended it to me...phenomenal reading.
Good luck on finding another country. I'm considering Chile myself. There are some ethnic German communities there where I'd fit in with quite well; and as I recall they score higher on the International Freedom Index than the U. S. A. right now.

These Dummy-crap clowns are doing a helluva job up there. I hope this trash passes. I want to see all of these wealth envy whores and mind-numbed sheople suffer when their home energy bills go up $300+ per year... Right along with gas prices... And, car prices... And, everything else...
Maybe, the Repubes will finally get off their asses and put some real challengers together for the next several elections.

This would concern me about Australia. When talking freedom they obviously did not factor in firearms or more to the point the ability to own them.
Current Australian firearm laws
State laws govern the possession and use of firearms in Australia. These laws were largely aligned under the 1996 National Agreement on Firearms. Anyone wishing to possess or use a firearm must have a Firearms Licence and, with some exceptions, be over the age of 18. Owners must have secure storage for their firearms.
Before someone can buy a firearm, he or she must obtain a Permit To Acquire. The first permit has a mandatory 28 day delay before it is first issued. In some states (e.g. Queensland, Victoria, and New South Wales), this is waived for second and subsequent firearms of the same class. For each firearm a "Genuine Reason" must be given, relating to pest control, hunting, target shooting, or collecting. Self-defence is not accepted as a reason for issuing a licence, though it may be legal under certain circumstances to use a legally-held firearm for self-defence.
Each firearm in Australia must be registered to the owner by serial number. Some states allow an owner to store or borrow another person's registered firearm of the same category.

I fully expect to be told in my lifetime (probably in the next few years) that I have to register my firearms with someone.
Problem is there is nowhere new to go. Western hemisphere was the last place. We're boned.

Thanks, Tarheel. I actually researched what it would take to migrate to New Zealand a couple of months ago. Let's just say there is a little more to it than crawling over/under a fence. Out of all the countries on that list, I'd have to go back to my roots in Ireland. Being a Ginger that drinks, I'd fit right in.

I have a dreadful feeling that the Senate will pass it fairly fast. Jeff Sessions has been bitching about "Cap and Trade" for a over a year that I know of, but it has fallen on the deaf ears of his fellow congressmen/women two faced, lying, back stabbing, crooks.

I'm not so sure about it making it through the Senate so quickly. This bill will have to go through a Conference Committee to attempt to harmonize it with two similar bills already in the Senate. If they make changes it will start the process of voting again in the House...and that's assuming they will go along with any Committee changes.
By the same token, the Committee may also just rubber stamp the damn thing and send it on to the Senate for a vote. The way things are going that's what will happen, then another damn celebrity will die to distract the Sheeple while the Congress does their dirty work.
