Can I depend on you guys to not give me a hard time when the NCAA ruling is handed down? I'll be in a vulnerable state and would appreciate it if you guys would maybe just not discuss it much.
-
I could give 2 fucks less what happens to Alabama. I will just think it's fucking hilarious that the savior was only scoring recruits by cheating his ass off....
IF it is proved to be that way...
-
Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

You and a couple of others around here will only get the usual ribbing as far as I'm concerned but there are some others that will have to crawl back under their rock to hide.

Obviously I was kidding when I started this thread but just to be on the same page, you do realize that there aren't any recruiting violations involved with the textbook case, right?

Well if that is all that comes down...I really couldn't care less...

I don't know what there is or isn't. This was more of a general statement.

Sani, I was talking about WarEagle!!!'s comment. I appreciate your kindness though, I'll go fist myself now.

Unless you consider Failure to Monitor a violation.

You don't know that.
The NCAA was pretty harsh in their PLOI. They very well could have discovered people associated with Alabama mentioning the textbook scam to recruits as a means of swaying them to sign with UA.
I've got no evidence to back that up, but it's not out of the realm of possibility.

Soooo.... they would tell potential student athletes that if they'd come to Alabama they would get free textbooks??? How would that be any different than any other school?

Key word is scam, reading comprehension.

is how I read it.

Come to bama, so you can make a little extra cash selling your books as well as all your friend's books back. Then, come the stripper parties and the blow. Well...as soon as we find another distributor. You interested?

How could they possibly sell them back to the school to make a profit? They were "checked out" under the student athlete's account. A book checked out under the student athlete's account has to come back to the store just the same, otherwise the athlete will get charged for it. Its the same concept as a library. If I were a student athlete and got a book I shouldn't have with my account, and then I gave it to a friend, and that friend didn't return it, I would be charged. If I return the book as I should, then I won't get charged and I don't get any money back, because I never paid money for it in the first place. Or, am I totally incorrect about how student athletes books are checked out? I don't see how any book given to a student athlete could possibly be returned for cash because it was free to them in the first place, correct? The whole time he was at a particular school, he would be labeled a student athlete, correct?

It is the same concept as the library...or at least it's supposed to be. I thought the allegations were that student athletes were getting their free books and instead of returning them, they were SELLING them to other people therefore turning a profit. Am I wrong on that?

I thought they were trading them straight up for cars in Gadsden.

Zero dollars and zero cents were involved in any of the book violations. They were getting books for their friends. It has been made rather clear than no money changed hands. I'm certain that most don't believe that. I probably wouldn't if the roles were reversed.

Correct. If you read the report from UA, the NCAA agreed with them that no money every changed hands between anybody. This was confirmed through questioning from the UA staff and NCAA investigators. At the time of the report, all books had either been returned or were paid for in full by any student athlete involved.
-
If all this is the case...you guys have nothing to worry about. Good luck with that!

Who then sold them and laundered the money.

You are in luck, partially anyway. Most of the guys on this board are incapable of giving ANYONE a hard time without pharmaceutical intervention...
But as for me? You can depend on me to remind you every time you show up around here that you are an inbred white trash fuckstick from the Ham. Take your pleas for sympathy and shove them up your ass along with your "feelings" - damn, boy, I done told you once this ain't no gotdamm Dr. Phil show...
Hugs!!

Friend...you don't say much, but when you do it's to the point and I salute you for it.

Well honestly, a book does hold around the same value as a car in this new and improved economy. I say it's totally fair.
-

Ever consider that the friends got the books at a fraction of the cost with the stipulation they had to be returned at the end of semester? Kinda like renting the book.
Then the player/students involved lied about receiving cash.

Just a side note. I personally don't give a flying fuck about textbook fondling or whatever the hell they did. I think student athletes deserve a little spending cabbage anyway. Scholarships are worth a shitload of money and value that can't be measured...(If they choose to take advantage of it) But, these athletes are making quasi-skwazillions for the school too. They need a little peel off to be able to go to the movies, take a date out to eat, have a beer if they so choose...Hell, selling my textbooks at the end of a semester was straight up buttah, baby. $26.32 cash money in hand. 6-pack and a dime bag...good times.
Now, if coaches or boosters or whoever are paying recruits, buying cars, givin' mama a house or remodeling her kitchen...fuck em'. You're breaking the rules. You're cheating like I did on my Chemistry final. You deserve to go down.
But textbooks? Please. It's almost embarrassing to make fun of that.
-
It's criminal that they make money off of each players likeness every year (NCAA football 2010) and they aren't compensated for it.
-

For $26.32? In the 80's? You had expensive taste for a college kid.

Oh god! Here you go again. Coach Foshee? Are you serious? Do you get tired of coming up with fucking pathetic excuses why your sorry ass coaches cant pull in a top recruits in this state? Does it hurt that bad knowing that your coaches cant compete with Bama's? Or is it the fact that you know your team is gonna get that ASS KICKED for a long time! Just like last year! 36-0 Damn it really must suck to be you! Does it really hurt that bad?? It must. :fu:

Coach Foshee is a HUGE bammer and Milliner has been signed, sealed & now verbally delivered. No excuses there, just plain facts, you fuckin' mouthbreathing, piece of trailer trash. He's been a bammer lock for months, it was solidified when he stated that he wanted another $tar. He stated that either before or after he attended ONE Camp, not only did the recruiting sites give him that extra $tar, they bumped him up to the #1 CB, eventhough he doesn't play CB.....again, this was after one camp.
-
What the hell happened to this thread???
Dude, don't blame me. I answered your pathetic plea... Your mouthbreathing sister humping kinfolks done screwed it all up... can't you keep them locked up better than that?
