Title: My Band's Gig
Post by: AUChizad on May 29, 2009, 03:59:29 PM
So we settled on a band name long ago. Detox On The Rocks. Fuck you if you don't like it.

We will be playing our first official gig at Blackwell's in Birmingham this coming Friday night.

Be prepared to rock.

More band info can be found at our facebook page.

Good luck.  Hope the gig goes well.

That is a great name.  Hope that the gig goes well too.  And, like Birdman, I heckle well...maybe I'll have to get over to B'ham sometime in order to do so.

Good luck, anyway.

Congrats on the gig. There is no feeling like the one you get playing music for a crowd.

Yeah, especially when you totally fuck up about 3 songs in a row and the crowd starts giving you a bunch of shit and the owner tells you you're quite possibly the worst fucking band to EVER come through his club and then someone throws a bottle and...

wait..what?  Uumm..good luck Chad.  I'm sure everything will be just fine.

This is a likely scenario. We're only going to be able to practice twice before the gig since we got it, and we're nowhere near ready.

I can't believe you didn't go with "The Sieg Heils".  Your band's loss, fo sho'.

How did the first show go?  We're you booed off the stage, or did you take multiple chicks home for rock and roll sex after the show?

The first show hasn't happened yet. It's this Friday (in two days).

Unless you count the Memorial Day "show". There's clips of that on our facebook page.

I had to go wipe the blood out of me ears after hearing that. I hope there is no permanent damage.

Seriously, do you guys plan on only staying around B'ham or have any plans to head up this way and maybe play at one of the Huntsville clubs?

We know we're probably going to be playing around Auburn & Vandy's campus once football season starts up.

Other than that, we're down to play wherever anyone will hire us.

Hmmmm.....

Taylor, we had Tax on our exam (I believe they axed the tax). While I normally sux at teh tax, we had a professor who did nothing but drilled us for two semesters on how to nail that part on the Bar.  The questions were about this couple who had this and that, blah-blah-blah and how do you advise them?

After that session, several of us were standing around comparing answers (As you will do too) and this one guy says, "I just put down, sounds like this couple needs a tax lawyer.  Why are you asking me?"

He wasn't at the Supreme Court building for the swearing in.

haha, yeah.  I am just scared shitless right now.  I am killing the essays, but it seems like the more I focus on the essay part the more I am waivering away from the multi-state.  It is taking precious years away from my life.  I easily pull at least 12 -14 hours a day studying.   :suicide:

The multi-state was just something that I had to make sure I stuck to my routine and never waivered.  My thoughts after taking the PMBR and learning how to approach the questions was very simple.  I'd spend Monday through Thursday doing 50-100 questions in the morning, then reviewing the answers and explanations that afternoon.  On Friday, I'd do a set of questions for time.  I would switch up each day doing questions from Barbri, PMBR and one other that I can't recall the name. Ultimately, it came down to seeing the same question asked as many ways as you could ask it and being familiar enough to pick out the "Best right answer".

There was only one part on the essay that beat my ass and of all things, it was Civil Procedure.  I think they've changed the format.  I opened that test and read the questions and just went, "What the fuck is that?"  Fortunately, in looking around the room, there were about 587/600 people collectively going, "What the fuck is that?"

I think I made a 6 on Civil Procedure.

It hasn't been confirmed 100%, but it is highly likely that we will be playing at Sipsey Tavern (formerly Bailey's) in 5 Points on Saturday, August 14.

Just wanted to give the heads up now in case anyone needed time to prepare (which, of course, you would).

Regardless of if the show happens or not, here's the poster.
