And, admission wasn't free....
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A national spring game record crowd of 95,722 came out to enjoy the high temperatures and watch Terrelle Pryor throw two long touchdown passes in 30 seconds, leading the Gray over the Scarlet 23-3 on Saturday at sun-drenched Ohio Stadium.
The 80-degree weather played a big role in the attendance, which topped the 92,138 Alabama drew for Nick Saban's coaching debut in 2007.
Ohio fans paid $5 per ticket, with the bulk of the money going to local charities. Many showed up in tank tops and shorts to soak up the sun on the warmest day of the year while watching Pryor strut his stuff.

Umm, y'all couldn't even fill up your stadium this year....and that's coming off of a 12-0 Regular Season record. What makes you think that more than around 80,000 will come next year, when y'all don't go 12-0 in the regular season? I guess there'll some be there that'll just want to see the new additions.

Not that I care about this since I myself have never been to a spring game at Alabama but 15,000 people were left outside the gate of Bryant Denny Stadium in 2007. The "attendance" record was simply the capacity that BDS could capably hold. There were much more people there than that.
-
I'll take 84,000 instead of 45,000 anyday! Barners are jealous, why else would you start a thread about Ohio St. attendance? Hell, the first post had "beat bammer" record in it. Red-headed stepchild is still alive and well! Fucking Pathetic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :fu:

He started the tread to catch your dumb catfish ass, you seldom disappoint with your predictability.
All I have ever heard form you "people" is how the only "thang that counts" is a MNC, now all of the sudden you nitwits are claiming recruiting "national championships" and worrying about how many rednecks watch your spring scrimmage. Hell, you idiots could fill talladega race track to watch 2 flies fuck if one of them was wearing crimson so big fucking deal. You fuckers suck like fat babies :fu:

Let's see...45,000 @ $5.00 a pop plus concessions. That'll come out to about $250,000.00 to the athletic department.
80,000 @ $00.00 = $00.00. Now, pay the security, referees etc.
Holy shit. 80,000 at a football game and your dumbasses LOST money. Would that be a national championship for mostest dumbassedness?

Ian Fitzimmons on the Round Table is clearly saddened by this. Here are his comments on the subject:
"Don't you guys have anything better to do?"
"Those scumbags actually charged for admission? That's just wrong."
"Of course the bama fans will say 'Just wait til we get that new deck'." (as if to insinuate he wasn't a "bama fan")
-
In all seriousness. Am I missing something here? Haven't we always charged a few bucks for the Spring game? I guess I assumed (Ass..u..me) that everyone did. I can't see it making any business sense whatsoever to not at least cover your costs. And you can bet your ass there are plenty of costs in having 10's of thousands of people on campus and open the stadium and for somewhat of a real game type atmosphere.
-
Yes, virtually everyone charges for their Spring Game, because as you said, it only makes sense.
-
Since everyone is concerned about how Alabama's football program is gonna keep the lights on after failing to charge for a spring game, anyone wanna throw out the numbers of how much Alabama's football program brings in annually compared to that of other schools?

% of Unemployment spent annually on Alabama Merchandise: 100%.
% of 2nd mortgages on trailers spent annually on Alabama Merchandise: 100%
% of child support spent annually on Alabama Merchandise: 90%*
*(the relative majority of rednecks do not know who their children are, due to the similarity of the gene pool)
