Andre Smith has cut ties with his agent, according to the bammerham News...
TUSCALOOSA -- Former Alabama left tackle Andre Smith made the decision to fire his agent Alvin Keels on Sunday night, a source close to Smith told The Birmingham News.
Smith, the Outland Trophy winner and a likely top 10 selection in the NFL, is expected to hire Ian Greengross, the source said.
Greengross, one of the five agents to originally meet with Smith before he hired Keels, is the president of Greengross Athletic Management Enterprises. He declined to comment Monday. Smith was meeting with the New England Patriots this afternoon and could not be reached for comment.
[UPDATED: Keels told me a few minutes ago that he knew of no such thing, that the report "wasn't true" and then he asked if it was just a rumor. I told him I was reporting it. He took my number, said he'd look into it and that he would get back to me.] Wha? So, Ian's going to report it, eventhough the person that this is pertaining to says that it isn't true and that he'll get back to him?
Smith's decision regarding the controversial Keels came Sunday, but the Birmingham native cannot officially retain the Chicago-based Greengross until Thursday, the end of the five-day waiting period.
Greengross represented former Arkansas star Darren McFadden last season, and the running back signed a six-year, $60-million contract on June 13 with $26 million guaranteed without missing camp.
At one point, Smith was thought to be a possible No. 1 overall draft pick before he made a series of well-publicized mistakes. There was the suspension for the Sugar Bowl for dealings with an agent, then the disastrous disappearing act at the Combine.
Smith was, it appeared, up front with NFL teams about what really led to his suspension, though his stock still plummeted. At his Pro Day, Smith strangely took his shirt off to run, while NFL teams wondered when he would take what they considered some good advice.
Finally, Smith has. Keels is out and expect Greengross to be in.

Some league observers have suspected that Jimmy Sexton, who represents Alabama coachNick Saban, eventually will emerge as Smith’s agent. Hmmmm, that's interesting
Some might see this as a good thing.....IMO, Andre should've made this decision about a couple of days after the Combine. Not, ten days before the Draft. There's a chance that there'll be some teams that will look at this situation and think that Andre is too erratic in his decision making for them to take a risk at drafting him high.

Which message board did you pick that last tid bit up off of?
JPW is represented by Sexton's firm, and you didn't even bat an eye (if you even knew). But someone who is supposed to go in the first round at some point down the road might be, and all of the sudden its "interesting"?

It's only interesting because of his illegal contact with an Agent that got him kicked off the team, it would've been too obvious if Jimmy Sexton was representing him right off the bat..... :poke:
