When Big Daddy decided that he wasn't going to sign with uat, he decided to call Coach midget and let him know, before he told the Old Mrs. staff, here is the conversation as told by Big Daddy...
Bobby calls Nick and Coach Saban stops him before he tells where he is going and said this, "Bobby, do not even tell me where you are going, because if you are not going to Alabama I am turning you into the NCAA. You know you have a chance to start at Alabama at right tackle as a sophomore, and nobody would turn that down unless they did something illegal."
Bobby was stunned. He said he just listened to Coach Saban rant and never said another word about it. He was offended to say the least. That is why he made such a scene at the press conference when he threw the Alabama hat on the ground and put on an Ole Miss hat.

See, this is exactly what I'm talking about. You put some total bullshit up, then you get called out, then get all defensive, then want to ask questions, and the next step will be denying that you ever believed it anyway.
Here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to create some bullshit blog, and on that blog, I will elaborate on a rumor. The rumor that I am "hearing" is that every Sunday night you suck Jumbo off while AC beats off to a picture of Gus Malzahn and you all scream "Oh Gene!!" the whole time. First of all, where did you call out Prowler, or anyone else out? Nobody here has claimed any status, or acted like they've won something. Nor, has anyone called any of it the absolute truth.
Also, you haven't offered the first alternative, proof to the otherwise, or anything else. I've always figured you called someone out by offering the truth and debunking what he was bringing. Then you punk them like they deserve. You "calling him out" is not defined by only your second grade level bullshit rants against the simple act of re-posting something he saw somewhere else.

Seriously though, I'm not actually trying to pass of what I said as a valid thought, I am simply taking a play from the AU fan playbook. I don't mind taking the 6 streak. You guys won, I know this. AU fans were the ones to quickly cite their horrible season, and lack of offensive coaching in 08, as the only reason we won. The same could be said for half of the 6 years of the most recent streak, so how do you want to play it? Those are all fine and dandy excuses for both sides, but I would say that the reason is that the team that was better won each of those meetings. There is a big difference between a reason and an excuse.

If Prowler is posting something JUST for me, then thats pretty special. However, I highly doubt he has the intelligence to do that. I'm pretty sure Prowler genuinely believes the bullshit he posts, and prides himself on being an internet "prowler" digging up all kinds of "information". Or, at least, thats what he told everybody on AUN shortly after his arrival there. This is a message board. It has no real bearing on anything, and nobody really gives a shit anyway.
I simply think in general that all of the rumor mongering, and the this person did that OMFGWTFBBQ shit takes away from being a fan. I love Alabama football just as much as the next guy, but you're not going to see me circulating rumors about AU, downing AU at every chance, etc. Fans really need to exhibit a little bit of sportsmanship as well. Permanant body markings is definitely where I draw the line as far as being a football fan. I don't like it when our fans have a million stickers all over their vehicles, dress head to toe in Alabama clothes on a daily basis, etc. I wear an Alabama shirt every once in a while. I have a t-shirt, one of those nice coaches polo shirts, and two hats. Thats plenty for me.

His reputation is built on delivering top-shelf blow. So when he found out, he fed Johns to the Tuscaloosa PD. Every once in a while, Nicky turns out a low-level dealer. It helps the PD look like they're cracking down and it buys Nick some quid-pro-quo. The reason Alabama wanted Julio so bad was because of his pipeline to South Alabama where he'd already established a territory. It opened a whole new market for Saban's cartel. Permanant body markings is definitely where I draw the line as far as being a football fan. I don't like it when our fans have a million stickers all over their vehicles, dress head to toe in Alabama clothes on a daily basis, etc. I wear an Alabama shirt every once in a while. When Saban doesn't get a recruit, he in no way acts (or looks) like a spoiled seven-year-old, deprived of his "woobie."
As few may know, yesterday was the first day of spring practice for the Ole Miss Rebels, which was open to the public. It just so happens that somehow Beast/Child 5-Star Hargrave recruit, Bobby Massie was in attendance, on the sidelines with the Rebel proletariat.
Naturally, Bobby was assaulted with fanboy questions. However, one question in particular yielded some interesting bits of tid:
He was asked to give a good Nick Saban recruiting story, and he had a pretty good one to say the least. Bobby said he called Coach Saban the night before signing day to let him know that he was going to sign with Ole Miss. Bobby did not even inform the Ole Miss staff that he was going to be a Rebel until the night before signing day, per Bobby, but he did say, "I had a pretty good idea where I was going in December."
Anyway, Bobby calls Nick and Coach Saban stops him before he tells where he is going and said this, "Bobby, do not even tell me where you are going, because if you are not going to Alabama I am turning you into the NCAA. You know you have a chance to start at Alabama at right tackle as a sophomore, and nobody would turn that down unless they did something illegal."
Bobby was stunned. He said he just listened to Coach Saban rant and never said another word about it. He was offended to say the least. That is why he made such a scene at the press conference when he threw the Alabama hat on the ground and put on an Ole Miss hat.
"A chance at starting Right Tackle as a Sophomore with the ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE"!!! Excuse me while I soil myself. How did Massie ever resist that tricky little leprechaun?
Damn it's a great time to be a college football fan in the South. Especially with Dr. Evil living and working just down I-20/59. Even though Nick closed out with one of the strongest signing days in the nation, apparently the world is not enough to satisfy the Prince of Darkness.
[Note: I've confirmed the validity of this "rumor" with the source, as it was told, by Bobby, to a dozen or so fans/media at the first spring practice.]
Update, March 3: According to Ian Rapaport, Bobby denies it...Kinda. He admits he's read the post, but he doesn't go into detail about what is true or false. He does admit talking to Saban the night before signing day (like it says above), and he does admit that he never told Saban he was going to Ole Miss (like it says above). He just says "my words got switched around," so take that for what it's worth.
Sounds to me like someone at Ole Miss asked Massie to kindly "shut up" and put this in the past. I'm thinking young Bobby just learned a valuable lesson in fan/media relations.

So tonight, I called Massie to see what really happened: "Man... what you saw on that blog wasn't even true," Massie told me.
Oh. Wait, what? But I just read it on that blog... And the blog said it checked with its source -- the OM reporter -- who corroborated it. Well, apparently, Massie disagrees. Of course, he's not the only one who noticed.
"I don't even know where that came from," said Massie, the five-star tackle. "Because I was at Ole Miss practice over this past weekend, and I was talking to somebody about my decision to come to Ole Miss. Then I come back here up to Hargrave, and I see everybody on Facebook, phone calls from everywhere, talking about that blog site. People were hitting me up on Facebook, and that (stuff) didn't even happen. I don't know where that came from."
What did he think happened? "My words got switched around," he said.
What was Saban's reaction when Massie told him he becoming a Rebel? One problem: Massie said he never told Saban.
"He never knew," Massie said. "He never knew I was signing with Ole Miss. I talked to him the day before signing day, but in his mind, I was coming to Alabama."
Massie hasn't spoken to Saban since. And as far as he's concerned, he'd like all this to end.
"It's over with," Massie said. "I signed with Ole Miss and not anybody else. So, there's nothing to talk about. I got nothing to say about him, he's got nothing to say about me. I signed with Ole Miss on signing day. That's it."
So there you go...

This isn't something you pick up from some poster on a message board. This isn't something off of just any old joe-blow fan's blog. It comes from a reporter from The Birmingham News. He is actually held liable for what he reports. He can't just post whatever he wants and pass it off as fact. Only in your fantasy land does this alternate "it happened, he just said the exact opposite of that just because" theory have legs. So, if you say there should be audio, where is it? Other than Julio Jones, we don't have all that much of a threat from the WR corps. Defense returns 9 players, but losing Rashad Johnson will sting a little. I've been pondering this for a bit after reading your post and I have come to the following conclusion: D-I college football carries a greater burden of expectation for the coaches than NFL football.
Here is why:
In D-I college ball, one loss puts you in danger of irrelevance. Two losses, until recently, meant that your goose was cooked and you'd have no prayer of sniffing the title game. Three losses and you're out.
Contrast that with the NFL:
Eight (8) losses means that you can still make the playoffs and vie for the championship. Undefeated seasons are so rare that the last team to do it still meets to pop champagne in celebration of their feat.
I'm not saying that the pro game is less cut-throat or that the NFL GMs aren't holding their coaches' feet to the fire to encourage performance, but from a sheer W/L expectations analysis the NFL is the easier of the two gigs.
