Headline: Vols Hire Bama Aide

They didn't want him anyway.
-
It's all part of the process.

Who is Lance Thompson?
Wait, that's Mrs. Thompson's boy, ain't it?

Correct, and along with the loss of Kevin Steele, a very important cog in the recruiting machine at Bammer. They'll play it off, but they ain't happy right now.
-
I wonder what this does for defensive recruits such as Tana Patrick and a few others. I'm sure scissors is talking with all of those recruits right now, and we'll get a report later today.

Nothing. The REC is the real recruiting staff at Bammer anyway.

That's what the Bammer machine is pumpin'.

I've heard that uat might lose another coach sometime soon. Word is, some of it boils down to Coach $aban wouldn't let his coaches off on Christmas Eve....made them work until 10:45pm, and that he did that at LSU every year. Also, supposedly, one of the coach's wife said that she wouldn't care if her husband coached on the High School level, just as long as it wasn't with Coach $.
Another thing....uat's rival now has a coach that "Helped" in that recruiting ranking of #2.

Funniest thing to me is listening to the Bama spin. This is actually a great thing and shows just what a tremendous leader Saban is.
You see Coarch Saban, he always pushes his assistants to keep moving up. He's always working to get them better opportunities. This is just a prime example of that.
Now wait...
Thompson makes a lateral move to hated rival Tennessee.
Steele makes a lateral move to ACC pissbag Clemson
Remember how they crucified us for Chiz and Will leaving for Texas? Payback should be a bitch.
-
Don't forget Applewhite leaving for a demotion at Texas last season.

Those Bammies are a delusional bunch

FACTS without spin
-This sucks
-It sucks that it happened right before signing day
-It sucks that he went to a rival right before signing day
-It sucks because it's clear our rival is building a power house right before our eyes, or at least they're willing to do whatever it takes to try.
-It sucks to lose two defensive coaches in the off season
-It sucks to lose a coach that happens to be a pretty good guy, kinda guy you want around.
-Rumors about working Christmas eve and Saban working him hard has less to do with this than Tennessee doubling his salary.
FACTS with spin
-Saban is the defense, though he says he doesn't run the defense it's possible that this lead to Steele and Thompson leaving, they want to be coaches who don't want to be micro-managed. That they can do that with a pay raise is simply a bonus.
-Saban made Thompson not the other way around. Thompson preceded Saban... why wasn't he bringing in on average 3 5-stars a year then?
-So our coaches are sought after. You'd hope that the successes of those running your program aren't going unnoticed. Kind of a dubious honor. It's like being broken up with by a girl that says you're to good for her. She's right, but you still get dumped.
-How can you look at a guy in the eyes for two years while he tells you why you belong at a particular school and then continue looking him in the eyes when he tells you that he wasn't telling the truth and that you should believe him now when he tells you that you should go with him to somewhere else? I can't imagine losing a recruit, for this very reason. It happens though.
-We'll just keep bringing in the talent. When in doubt just keep bringing in the talent. When you don't know what to do just keep bringing in the talent. Keep bringing the depth, keep bringing in Top 5 classes year after year after year and eventually it will be like LSU, it doesn't matter who the hell coaches them.
That's all the spinning I can do. I'm exhausted. Hopefully there's some truth both in the 'facts' and the 'spins'. I think there is, we'll see.
But yes, this sucks.
-
Shane says it doesn't matter. Saban is a train that can't be stopped.
Pretty fair analysis Ham. Unless some of these guys back out because of the coaching defections, this class may be better overall than last years. Well maybe not better overall, but certainly more top heavy in big name kids.

We need depth. We need it in the worst kind of way. Utah exposed us to the hills for this (and in other ways).

Other ways such as coaching?

In every facet of what a coach does we were out coached.
