I then Googled "the answer to life the universe and everything" without quotes.

I just spend an hour and a half on Encyclopedia Dramatica reading about 4chan, gaiaonline, newfag/oldfag wars, Boxxy queen of the internet, moot, Habbo hotel, and nigras. Hell, I read about more shit than just those subjects. The worst part? I was genuinely interested for a good bit of it. Then it hit me. There are some serious basement dwelling losers on this planet.

Oh, and yeah, I chortled when I first saw the google calculator, 42 thing.

It was an obvious influence on Arrested Development, which you just referenced.
