It's being reported that he's in the Top 2....Alongside possibly, Brian VanGorder....Atlanta Falcons DC and former UGA DC, who seemingly hates every job he takes.
Pros:
Really Good to Great Defensive Coach and Coordinator
I've heard that he's a Great Guy
More than likely knows how the "Proce$$" works and who's involved
Cons:
Decent recruiter
In his mid to late 50s
I'm wondering how much involvement he had with the uat probation, since he was there under Gene Stallings and Mike Dubose
What does everyone else think? Splash Hire?

Honestly, I think either one would be fine. Johnson seems to get some decent talent to come to SC, when it's been clear for a few years now, that under Spurrier, the offense is sputtering because of QB issues and the Defense was going to be relied upon to keep them in games, and it would only get tougher as the schedule got dragged on.
I think Johnson (if the buyout can be dealt with appropriately), would be a good one.
VanGorder - While it would be a pretty sweet hire to have him next to Chizik, I'd be really surprised to see him take, in what would be in my estimation, a demotion. He's a DC in the NFL now, and under Chizik, would be working alongside another DC basically. If they made him Asst HC (assuming Malzahn isn't going to be), then it COULD make sense, if VanGorder really wants back in the college game. Lord knows from his GA days, he can recruit.
So, when all is said and done, Johnson would be a good one, while not a splash hire. VanGorder would be an excellent hire, a surprising splash, and interesting story going into the remainder of recruiting season.
We shall see.

MSU's D carried them to a bowl in 07. Ellis left and MSU went right back to the crapper.
USC's D was pretty strong most of this year. Take out "points off turnovers" and his scoring D improves vastly. It's hard for any D to keep the other team from scoring when they're on the field most of the game and are faced with short fields. Someone may dig up stats to prove otherwise, but it sure seemed USC had major problems driving the ball and holding on to the ball. Then again, I didn't watch too many USC games.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I think EJ would be a very good hire.

Well....they only gave up 31 to Iowa.

Not hard to do when your offense can't score in a whore house. Sounds kind of familiar actually...hmm....

I'm not going to get into the reasons, but I will be disgusted if this guy ends up at Auburn. Disgusted, sick and just a little furious.
