My mom used to collect Green Stamps at the grocery store.  We had to paste them in a book and then go to the Green Stamp store and trade them in for cool stuff.

Like I said, S&H baby!
I got lots of good stuff that broke after 3 hours from that store as a kid.

Mom would make us sit for what seemed like hours, pasting those things in the book.  We'd all look forward to the trip to the store, but we usually wound up with something stupid like a lamp or an end table.  Mom always decided to buy something we "needed".  What good is that?

I too was a Green Stamper.  I remember the trips to the store well

Green Stamper here as well.

If they didn't burn up when my parent's house did last year, my mom still had stamp books.

The stamp books would be all wavy and crimped up because we normally had a big sit down pasting session.  You had to lick or wet all the stamps to paste them in so every page would be wet and by the time you finished, the book would be all wadded up.

I always envied those rich families that had the little tray with the wet sponge.  After every session, I couldn't taste anything for a couple days.

White privilege.  The struggle is real.
