Anyone own one? What's your opinion? Is it the shit or not what it's cracked up to be?

Can you pick up Freedom radio on them?
I'm in.

if you are getting a new car, depending on the model and brand, it may come standard. if you are sticking with sat. radio you will be listening to that shit anyway. so what is the point of having both? with hd fm and am you are still stuck with commercials. sat radio is transmitted digital. i think hd radio was brought out to compete with sat quality.
to me i can't tell a difference between am/fm hd or standard am/fm, but my car isn't pimping with 24" subwoofers and a gizzallion watt amp.

I been on Sirius for about a year and I love it. no commercials.

There are several channel possibilities in the ATL area, but in Bammerham, there are only 3 or 4 channels and 2 of those are Christian radio.

Yeah, there's really just two things that have me hesitant to shell out for one:
1. The lack of stations that actually broadcast in HD
2. If I don't buy it now who's to say that in a few years analog radio doesn't go the way of analog TV? Then I'm stuck with something that might as well run off of vacuum tubes.
Basically, is it worth $350?

Does the word Betamax mean anything to you?

I bought my sirius set up at Radio Shack for $35 and put it in myself.
Fuck a car company in da mouf.

So you can strap a sirius radio around bike handles with velcro?
-

no. get a good set of floor mats.
more than likely you will have a different car before they do away with analog radio.
besides if you are sticking with satellite radio, i would assume you will be listening to that over (hd) fm/am radio.
hd radio is digital broadcast which you already get with your satellite radio provider.

All right here's the deal. I'm ordering a BMW 335i. I can get HD radio for an extra $350 or Sirius for an extra $595... or both. I just don't know if I want one or the other... or both. If I can't get SEC football on Sirius then why bother? I'll just move my XM roadie to my new car and be done with it. I don't know if I want the HD radio or not. Right now I just don't think it's worth $350 to be like "look, my car has HD radio, does yours?" But, then again, if we're going towards HD then why not just get it over with now and buy it?
Decisions, decisions...

I don't think it is worth it. The first real rumblings of HD television broadcasts didn't surface until the mid 90's. it will be YEARS before analog radio goes away.

My dad bought a brand new stripped down Hynudai with straight cash. We found an HD radio on sale at Best Buy for $119 and had it installed for about $100. The only neat thing about it is that some channels broadcast an alternate commercial free channel, but not many do that. As far sound goes, I can't tell that much difference. I guess you need some high dollar speakers to tell a difference. I have an HD radio I purchased on sale at Rex for $99, to replace the radio stolen out of my wife's car a few months ago. She had a Rockford Fosgate system and speakers, so I guess I will see if there is a difference with speakers whenever I get around to getting it installed. Then again, I did buy a cheap radio, so I probably will be getting what I paid for.
