Title: Cam steps in it
Post by: Kaos on October 04, 2017, 08:05:04 PM
I’m not watching the NFL — even Cam — but he’s opened a can of legitimate worms. It’s all over the news.

Some lady reporter asked him about the routes Devin Funchess is running. He laughed and said it was funny for a female to be asking him about pass routes.  Then he answered the question.

Of course he’s being raped over the coals.

I understand the need to be PC but he’s just echoing what I think too.  She can’t play the game. She’s never coached. The fuck does she really know about a pass route?

I remember being in one of my first ever press interviews when Stallings was at Alabama. This big woman asked him how he felt about some situation or the other. He destroyed her.  When he was done ripping her a new vagina he told her she better not ever open her mouth to ask him anything else ever.

I thought that was over the top but the fact is (get off my lawn) I don’t like lady sports writers or broadcasters. I’ve been in plenty of locker rooms. Women don’t need to be there. I don’t want to hear them call games.  I just don’t like it.  Cam speaks for me.

Yep. And the black power salute.

Doesn't help he's been a whiney little bitch the last two years. I'm done with him. And done with the NFL.

So are some adopting the narrative of Cam as hired gun and distancing themselves from him?  Family until Superman trips on his cape, I guess.

He said a dumbfuck thing and he's going to take big hits for it.

I'm not distancing from him.  He's still family.

You can love somebody and not support what they do.   I think he's wrong on Knipperpunk, but then again he's in a bad position.  He's already criticized for not being black enough.  I've never been black so I don't know how that feels.  Whatever he says is going to be wrong.

Add to this that he doesn't seem to be having fun any more.  It looks like the whole thing weighs on him.

He's going to catch shit for "demeaning" a woman now.  I think he's right, though.  I despise women sportscasters.  Even Linda Cohn.  Although she's actually a horse so I don't know if that still applies.

You are right that you don't know how it feels to be black. Even from the waist down can be incredibly taxing.

Everyone seems to think a huge penis is all fun and games.

Just watched 5 minutes of SC and Mike & Mike and here's the narrative and exactly what just came out of Mike Greenberg's mouth.

"What Cam said, is word for word what a college coach would have said about a black quarterback 40 years ago."

Why?  Why would you even take this there?

The hyperbole of the narrative aside....

Real question....is discussing a passing route off limits for a female? If so, why? Most pundits have never been an athlete. Most people on here have never ran a passing route in a game. So why is what this lady saying in different than the rest of the peanut gallery that seems to know all? It's not a male or female thing - it's a pundit thing. There are those who have been in the shoes and those who haven't. Mike Greenberg is no more in position to critique than this lady.

Sorry but it was a dumb statement to make in this pc sensitive age we live in. It just adds to people's angst against him. The kapernick and black power stuff bothers me much more than this. He's been on a trend heading this direction for a while now so I'm not surprised really.

Worst Pats defense in years.

Just for purposes of this discussion, I pulled up some Cam stats myself.  (Please take note that this does not mean that I have dropped my boycott of the NFL.  I'm not watching any NFL games this year unless I am.)

One thing of note is that he had been sacked 12 times in the first 3 games.  Looks like he's most likely running for his life.

Although, Jarrett Stidham scoffs at his 12 sacks.  He racked up 11 in one game.   #winning

Not watching the NFL but Cam came off the MVP season getting rocked. He's almost always had sub par protection, has never had a full compliment of receivers (usually one accountable) and has Mike Shula as a fucking anchor. Okay he's always been about making plays, not about consistency. He is at his best with a running game because they want him in the pocket but where he thrives and truly the entire offense, is when he has it all and can occasionally bust some open field runs.

Cam, Jamies, etc saying they'd just grab women by the pussy would or should be the bigger story...and I'd be agreeing with Trump if he said that he found it funny, a woman asking about passing routes. Because it is funny.

Today, Finebaum had Holly Rowe on his show (she's going to be on the commentator team calling the aTm/bama game), she is saying how beautiful and vibrant Kyle Field is and how it's such an amazing field that she just wants to lie down and do grass angels on it...Kyle Field has been here for around 100 years.

So yeah, it's funny hearing a woman ask about pass routes of a sport she has likely never played (not counting intramurals or backyard neighborhood games). And I don't like hearing a woman call games, regardless of how deep her voice is.

Here's what bothers me about the whole thing.

Someone has decided what is 'right' and 'appropriate' and any thing that isn't within that scope demands punishment and public derision.

If Cam doesn't like women journalists or finds their questions amusing, that's his personal opinion.  At what point did holding an opinion that runs counter to the determined norm begin to require a punitive response?

Doesn't that shit all over the first amendment?

Cam scored 33.04 points on my fantasy team Sunday.  If he keeps that up I don't give a fuck if he shoots someone in broad daylight with a bumpstock assault rifle while kneeling from a high rise hotel in times square.

Yes it does. But Cam has more responsibility than most to say and do the politically correct thing. Even at the expense of his beliefs, imo. He owes it to his sponsors and team ownership.

Same with kneelers.

But I would think it an easy decision to drop these guys. Shows what I know. They could seemingly urinate on the flag and plenty would make excuses for them.

Most of the left seems more concerned with  the kneeler's right to protest than other's right to boycott the NFL and its sponsors.

Which I am doing. It's my small part. No Nike, under armour or Budweiser, etc.

Fuck their “peaceful protests”.

They can do whatever they want on their own time.  When they are on the clock — as they are at the games — their employer has the right to require certain standards of behavior.

One veteran to another, you swore an oath to the constitution. You should read it again...pay attention to the 1st Amendment. It is because of the military that the players are able to kneel. Like I said before, I'll say it again, if you want forced patriotism, move your ass to North Korea.

(This goes for everyone)
You want to get all up in arms about players peacefully protesting, while you vote in someone that doesn't like POWs, disrespects a Gold Star family, and talks through "Retreat" on a Air National Guard base saying that it's being played for him or the tv show ratings.

Employers across the county have all kinds of restrictions to free speech. It's called an employee rule book or code of conduct. Sure I can run around naked at work and talk about how great the klan is - but I wouldn't be there very long. Free speech is something misunderstood by prowler and his commie buddies like Bernie. It's there mainly against intrusion by the federal govt on a private citizen. When you are an at will employee, you play by your employers rules as long as they aren't violating labor laws. It's been this way for ages.

Ok, so you are obviously missing the entire point.  It isn't about forced patriotism, it's about having some class and showing it.  These "oppressed" players making their shit tons of money sure are "oppressed'.  Show me how these D bags have been "oppressed" and I will show you how the majority of them are just thugs with money.  If not for their ability to play a GAME better than other people, they would be doing the same thug shit that the rest of their homies are doing.  I would also say that half of them or more will be broke within 5 to 10 years after they are done playing.

Now I have said it before and I will say it again. If you want communism, then take YOUR ass to one of the many countries that live under it.  I agree they have a right to do what they are doing, no problem with that.  It's the disrespect that they have for the same country that has afforded them to play a gotdamn game for a healthy living. So enlighten us.

So many of them have protested for so many different reasons. THEY have missed the point of the original protest. Now it's just this wildcard free for all.

And if the original protest was for injustice - then what in the living hell does the anthem before a game have to do with that? I gave suggestions before. Form a coalition, hold a presser, march in mass quantity peacefully ala MLK. KNEELING during an anthem will not change a damn thing for the better. Period.

I know I have not watched a minute of it in about a month. I had no withdrawals...

Same here.  At first, I was thinking my not watching would be nothing more than my own private little protest.  Just personal satisfaction.  But then you realize that Roger Goodell started the season in solidarity with the players and lashing out at Trump for his comments.  This past week, Goodell sends a letter to all NFL teams saying stop this shit now.  You're killing the league.

That makes me happy.

You seem to be missing the point of their protest entirely.

And which point would that be?  Is this a salad bar of protests or is there one point that the entire football league is focused on?

If they were attempting to cause awareness to a cause, then why take a knee for our anthem and then stand for another countries afterwards.  Seems to me that you would remain kneeling to bring awareness of a situation that is a problem world wide...I think it's world wide, but I don't know because Korndicks original protest has morphed into a catch all protest.

Ah c'mon.
The NFL has evolved into a shitty product in and of itself. It would be far worse without the gambling industry and the fantasy sites to help prop it up.
Half of the games are unwatchable and the Neilson ratings prove it.
Kneeling and showing disrespect for their country only adds to its demise.
Let them cut their own throats.

It's not really a world wide care for these kneelers. If you ever interact or visit any African countries, they laugh at the black folks in America. They wonder how a people could have it so good and still bitch about life.

I contend that most kneelers STILL don't have a clue why they're kneeling.

But, even if they do, I think it's a failure and the wrong place.

They are worsening the divide. I don't plan on ever watching or supporting any more nfl. Ever.

Wasn't a big supporter before, so won't miss it.

Also, actively boycotting NFL sponsors. Ford, Gatorade, Pepsi, under armour, etc. Explained to wife and kids why.

I'm not a vet but it's my flag. And I don't want anyone disrespecting it. I'm on the side of for the people who fought to protect it. I'm supporting them. Not some pansy ass, over-paid moron with an imaginary chip on their shoulder and therefore, a cause.

And before someone says I missed the point. Like K pointed out long ago, they don't even know the point. And my point is: THEY ARE KNEELING DURING THE PLEDGE!

It would be like one of my kids purposely farting during the blessing. I would slap them silly. It's disrespectful. That's the bottom line.

Fine with me if they keep it up. Hope they get fired and go bankrupt myself. Not very Christian of me, I know. Sorry.

Why would you?
All you have to do is imagine weaning yourself of DCP if not for the Pepsi sponsorship.

Unless you carry it to an auction where no one knows you, I agree.

No one is going to want that interior.

The upholstery is fine.  The fragrance might be a little off-putting to some.  I'm thinking of marketing it, though.  "Midnight Flatulence".  Has a nice ring to it.

The bigger question is why are you riding around with Wiregrass’s son?

George Jefferson had SLAVES you racist white fuckers. That’s why we got to take down all the statues of Christopher Columbine.  They gonna peacefully protest until that racial flag is tore down.

Don't forget. That third verse mentions killing all slaves...

I not understand kneel before enlightenment in my sensitive training. We must open our minds to the "reasons " for the actions and not just the act itself.

And, wear fanny pack. Then more liberal.

So get the communist cock out of your mouth and suck my American balls!!  Hallelujah, holy shit!! Where's the tylenol?
So, you have no problem with them using their stage to peacefully protest oppression and police brutality for all that are affected by it on a massive stage (millions of people watching). You know that up until 2009 NFL players usually stayed in the locker room until after pre-game activities, until the NFL paid the owners to have their players come out for the anthem to show patriotism. You seem to be among those that're focusing on the wrong thing. The message of the protest is what's important.

Yes I am aware of that, and I would rather them sit in the locker than this bullshit.  And let's just say that their real protest is over police brutality.  There are definitely some bad cops out there, but there sure as hell isn't near the amount they believe to be.  Hell if they want to protest something that is truly a world wide issue, how about terrorism.  Something that affects everyone and not just some thug getting shot by the cops when he was given ample time to obey verbal commands and instead became such a threat that the officer had to shoot.  At the end of the day, I don't have a problem with them protesting whatever they want to protest.  I just think that there are more respectful was to do it.  And how about the ones giving the black panther "salute"?  That is no different than giving a kkk "salute".  Both groups are racist hate groups that have no place in this world.
