Title: Saturday Foosball
Post by: Snaggletiger on September 23, 2017, 01:07:00 PM
The 6 pound Boston Butt is 4 hours on the Green Egg, low and slow.  One IPA in.

So, we wallowed around against Mercer last Saturday.  Tennessee fans may have that same sinking feeling.  Just scored their first TD to go up 7-0 with 4:00 minutes left in the first half.  It's UMass.  0-4 UMass.  Widely regarded as the worst team in D1.

Check that.  UMass just scored.  7-6

Flipping channels and stopped briefly to try and figure out why Texas A&M was playing Ohio State.  What the holy fruckity fruck are you doing Arkansas? Must be working though.  Up 21-10.  Somebody gone get Les Miles'd.

Chicken wings just went on the primo to smile for a few hours.  Should be ready about game time.  just opened the 3rd Miller Lite and watching NC State give it o FSU.

Hope they hang on in the 2nd half

UT hangs on to beat mighty UMass at home 17-13.

NC State takes care of FSU 28-21 in Doak Campbell

Neither Arky or A&M have ever heard of the word, "Defense".  Horrible.  And Fat Bert is wearing an old gray sweatshirt, looking like he's getting ready to swill a 12-pack and slam wings and fries.

La. Tech up on the Gamecocks 13-7 with 11:00 to go in the game..

Toledo beating The U 16-10 in the 2nd half.

TCU up by 10 on I'm 40, I'm a man.

Clemson and BC tied 7-7 in the 2nd half.

Might be some crazy shit going on.

We finally look this week how we should have looked last week.
Mizzou's defense SUCKS!

Stidham still shits the bed at the slightest inkling of pressure!

Kmart sighting!

Didn't see that at all tonight.  Only problem with JS is that he needs to get his ass on the ground sooner and don't take so much punishment.  BTW, in the last two games:

45-54  582 Yards 1 TD 1INT (Not his fault)

I can live with what Stidham is doing right now.

Don't look now but we are not as bad as most thought.  Carry on my wayward son makes a difference

It only happened a few of times in the first quarter.  (That was the only time they got pressure).
He immediately dropped his head and started crawling out. Never once looked downfield for an outlet. Same stuff he's done all season.
He is not getting any better at it.
And if you think we are going to give him time to throw like he got tonight, well, I think we all know that Ain't happening!

We played a shitty defense tonight. We won't be that lucky with any other SEC team.

If he can't keep his eyes downfield and get a few of those dumped off, we will look like we did against Clemson.
Our season truly rests on how he handles pressure.

2.7 ypc against a shitty defense.

Would a combo of Kmart and Miller have been as effective?

I'll defer to your judgment since you've been there, done that.  The average Joe fan in me sees a guy who has only thrown 9 incompletions in 2 games.  I saw a QB that was far more decisive than anytime to date.  Granted, I'd rather see him throw it away than bust his ass for a first down, but I thought he made cleaner, quicker decisions tonight.

My only real gripe tonight was the few times we went full Malzahn Tard and continued to hand the ball off up the middle incessantly.  But to their credit, they got away from that and did some pretty innovative stuff offensively.  Got Kam and Malik involved heavily in the running game.

Did we burn a redshirt on Miller?

He didn't look much like a QB.

I'm not even bitching about the lack of TD passes. LOL. I saw where somebody mentioned that. They hit SW hard with that one. I don't give a rats ass about that as long as we get down there and score.

As for his performance, don't get me wrong, you give the kid time, he will eat you alive.
And my only knock on him is the lack of performance under pressure.
I was hoping a coach would work on him keeping his head up and not panicking.(do we have a QB coach?)

He looked great tonight, unless under pressure. If he learns to keep his head up and dump a few of those off, we will break some defenses.

He throws about the best ball I have seen in a long time.

I wonder if the WRs got open because he had a lot of time to throw, or they are getting better, or if the defense was just shitty. Regardless it was damn nice to see open WRs for a change!

The best thing I saw tonight was this older gentleman, maybe mid-60s, about 4 or 5 rows in front of us. When we scored early in the 3rd, he stood up, reached into his pocket, pulled out a white handkerchief, waved it over his head, and then left.

Was happy that we spread it around much more, utilizing the backs to their strengths. That was a positive step. Realize Missou is weak right now but still it was on the road and we weren't as sloppy.

Willis looked like a bigger version of JFIII.  If he can throw it a little and hold onto the ball, he will be a good change of pace.

Not impressed with Malik Willis or Malik Miller. I wouldn't be surprised if Willis only knows maybe 3 plays. Joey Gatewood will come in as the #2 next season.

Funny thing is this morning on the radioz you would have though bammer beat Clemson.  Oh look at bamas dominance and they just show you how they can squash you.

IT'S FUCKING VANDY!

Didn't see that at all tonight.

Go back and rewatch it.  He does not look good in the face of pressure.

I'm not picking on the kid because I will say that to me was his most impressive game so far.  My hope was that he has just been rusty, and so far it seems that is the case.  He did a much better job of making decisions, looking to other options and getting rid of the ball.  But CCTAU is correct when he gets pressure he panics.

I'm also hoping that the fact that Missouri is god awful wasn't the only reason.

We did.

But we kind of had to since we went from 4 QB's down to 1.  Miller needs to get some reps if Stidham were to go down. He didn't look like a QB but he is a true freshman and they really weren't calling plays for him to pass. They were just trying to run out the clock.

I didn't watch much of it.   All I saw were poorly designed and executed QB runs.  The one play where he ran up and then lobbed a pass was very Marshall/Coatesey.  BS on the ineligible linemen downfield thing.  I don't like that call.

Well that explains it.  After they got their ass chewed out by Saban and the head of SEC officials for six straight months for not calling back that Marshall to Coates TD they are never, ever, ever letting that stand again.

I always found it aggravating that he bitched about that play being “unfair” and the rules got tweaked.

The kid didn't look that bad. He forgot to hand it off several times. I think was just excited.
If he starts reading that option correctly, he could be fun to watch.

shit, our play clock can barely do seconds, throwing a new program at it could brake it all the way.

But on the high side JJ would replace it with the first jumbo Tron time clock. :aubie:
